I didn’t really get the mechanics :(

Check out Wanderfish, a game a friend and I made

I finally got around on playing the demo! Can’t wait for the full release!

This was written in TypeScript with React for the frontend.

You can check out the source code on GitHub: https://github.com/Cyklan/PNGeverything

Hi, just checking in!

Are you still looking for a teammate?

In my day job I’m a software engineer and I picked up making games around a year ago. I’m envisioning a pixel art game in a 1-bit artstyle (except for when the theme has something to do with color :D). If you’re interested you can reach out on Discord: Cyklan#0001

I for one want to try a new engine for the jam! My previous games have all been made with MonoGame, but at my job I usually only write TypeScript, so I will check out Excalibur, an engine written in TypeScript that renders to the HTML5 canvas.

What will you use?

No worries about the harshness, we appreciate the honesty

Thanks for the video! I’m just curious - When you were rating the game in the “Innovation” category, you said “I’ve never seen a game like it”, yet you only gave three stars. What was the reason for that?

Now to be clear, I don’t want to be ungrateful. Three stars is more that one star, but the wording confused me a bit. If you could elaborate on that it would be great.

Also, thanks to the video I learned a few things that could be improved on the game. Thanks so much!

It would be great if you could check out our game, System Irrelevant. It’s a game about your dream job, sorting documents while being distracted by coworkers over the phone.

The game is fully voiced, so playing with audio is encouraged.

There was a time not too far in the past where I used light theme for everything (except Visual Studio. That’s blasphemy). Discord was light, VSCode was light, Eclipse was light, IntelliJ, Windows, you name it.

But I’ve switched back to dark themes and opted vor dark-ish themes for my IDEs.

You don’t really convert other images to png, but rather any file type like e.g. .exe, .xlsx, or basically just any file.

It’s not really meant to be used at all, as the functionality is basically useless. You can theoretically convert jpgs and gifs to png, but it will directly read the bytes. There won’t be an actual conversion.

I’ll check it out later today and send you another comment. Alternatively, you can friend my on Discord: @Cyklan#0001

Not only didnt we use unitys ui system, we didn’t use unity at all :D

We used MonoGame, a wrapper around Microsofts XNA, which is a fancy opengl wrapper with QoL resource loading and managing.

We linked the source code on the game page if you’re interested.

My friend and I made a game called System irrelevant. It’s about sorting documents into 3 (4 if you count the trash as an organizer) different organizers. Make sure you don’t get fired :D

Oh and writing the dialogue as well as actually recording it… might’ve been 6-8 hours LMAO

Thanks for checking it out!

When we started we didn’t really like the feel of any of the C# game engines (Unity, Godot, Stride) so we thought “just heck it” and picked MonoGame. It’s definitely a bit more of a challenge, as except for drawing stuff and playing audio you have to do everything from scratch, but in the end we know where exactly to look when something breaks.

It would be great if you would check out my game, System Irrelevant, a game about frantically sorting documents.

Here’s a few things that I already know and don’t need feedback on:

  • Closing the document doesn’t work with left click, only right click and the keyboard -> thats not intuitive
  • there’s no direct indicator for the trash can -> draw a trash can

anything else is greatly appreciated!

Not gonna lie, I don’t really get what’s happening in the game. It’s all very cluttered and I don’t really know what I’m actually doing as the tutorial seems to be broken?

I mean yeah, it’s chaotic but in the worst way possible. Also I couldn’t completely turn down the music, even though the slider was all the way down.

I had the main story line written out by tuesday with most of the dialogue done by wednesday. Then I had a friend come over to record betty, sent a message to the guy who made the music that he could record vlad, recruited another friend to do two of the misc. voice lines, Noctus Rex spoke Mike and I did all the other voices. All in all, writing dialogue and recording it all took about 5-8 hours

My friend and I made System Irrelevant, a fully voiced game about frantically sorting documents into the right organizer.

Did you have any success with creating a linux build?

The framework we were using doesn’t allow for web games to be made.

We don’t have a linux build, but if you want to go through the hassle of building it yourself, the source code is available on github. You should be able to build it with .net core 3.1. Just make sure to load all the nuget packages
