This game is frickin gorgeous. Like wow, the art is just all so polished. The detail is simply mind blowing. I'm at a bit of a loss for words... Truly, you could sell the game based off that intro cutscene alone, the music, sounds and art are all perfect.
The gameplay wasn't quite as perfect, but still very nice. It took me a while to figure out what was killing the skeleton, I assumed it was particular tiles that killed you. I spose I'm just not used to fall damage in a 2D platformer, but I figured it out eventually. There was also a level in the mage section, which was just walking back and forth flicking levers, which was a bit slow (tho there is a shortcut). The final boss wasn't quite as grand as I'd have expected and their attacks were a bit bland. If you were in the wrong place at the wrong time during the fight, you were simply doomed.
That said, the game is still outstanding, and my brain is still recovering from the incredible experience that I just played. I really hope that you make this into a full game. I hole-heartedly believe that you guys can make this into something incredible. Whatever happens, I can't wait to see more of your work!
Thanks for your deep review, and it makes us really happy that our games, even made in a week, can have a positive impact on the players. It means a lot for us!
We wanted to add something that could explain the skeleton mechanic at the beginning, a character or so, but due to time boundaries we didn't implement this. But still, we will take them into the consideration :)))))
And of course
You recieved a candy from Mage Dog !

Wow this is an amazing game. I absolutely like the art direction and the music was really good for the first level. Gameplay was really fun too. The only thing I would worry about is the fact that it's possible to softlock yourself as a skeleton depending on where you die. Also the boss fight was a bit annoying because it takes a long time and if you die at the end you get to spend quite a bit of time doing it over. But other than that, I loved it. I think the general art theme and the story was my favorite part. If this game ever gets developed into a full release I definitely want to play it!
That was an amazing game experience! When the skeleton part came I got super excited and ended up completing the game. Cannot believe this was made by a 15 year old and 17 year old. You both have amazing futures ahead :^)
Really polished, and love the art, can't believe this was made in a week. Well done!
This is a very solid platformer with really good controls and a great story. I love the characters and the art, the music is great and sound fx are pleasant. Great work overall!
perhaps a reload button when you screw up a level would be better! love the pixel art! Amazing Game well done
I'm impressed by the visual style, bet it took a while. Overall, sound, graphics and gameplay was great.
Amazing game really like the art style and your take on the theme. Wasn't able to play through the whole thing though due ton browser issues, but I did like the game.
Lovely little game! Well done. The text in the beginning was a bit too small for my old eyes to see.
Such a beautiful game, I hope y'all expand on this. By far the prettiest game I've seen in this Jam!
Really loved the game! I especially loved the cut scene from the beginning it really sets the mood of the game. I also loved the game play!
Awesome game! I hope you will make the continuation for the game! One moment, in my opinion, it would be better to make skeletons die on button press, because I've failed few times levels, which were pretty easy, but I was jumping from big height and dying, and the body of dead skeleton didn't let me to finish the level.
This game really stunned me. the graphics were astonishing and the level design was perfect! the sounds were pretty good and the music! man what a tune!
the game played with a couple of platforming concepts that although seen before, were greatly implemented into the games levels. when the characters changed and i died as the skeleton for the first time i was shook. the concept of changing the gameplay elements by changing characters is such a genius i cant even comprehend! i can see where this game is headed and i cant wait to play a longer version with more concepts and more lovely characters
a big bravo to the one behind the graphics. as a pixel artist myself i always appreciate a pixel art game. the color pallets were great and the change of the third color (purple for the mage and red for the skeleton) was a really neat detail. i also appreciate that you didnt use a pure white for the background
the music was perfect and i cant find the right words to write about it. it was true perfection for the purposes of the game
the story was a bit unclear. im not talking about the plot im talking about the Mage Dog (yes thats what im calling it) who was he? (or she) why was the skeleton knight so beaten up demonic but all cool in the pictures?are you paving the path for the full game? maybe you are and i love it
the sound design was pretty great but the death sound was a bit eary. maybe reduce the volume a little. other than that all of the sounds were really awesome
overall this game is a gamejam gem and i would love to see the full game
my score for this game 9.7 / 10
Hey,
I'm the guy who was making a visual and animation stuff for this project and I'm jubilant that you love our game
Concerning a level design and changing between realities was the core game mechanic, we also wanted to add a reality with the animals where you could become a fish to swim or mouse to get to some point and the reality with the astronauts where you could have some kind of a jet with wich you could fly on a bizarre planet. But due to a small period given for the development, we only created two realities ((
As an artist, I appreciate your interest in the visual stuff I made for this project. The main idea was to set a story's mood from the beginning with some fancy images, I used a limited palette btw really helps a lot, and it was easy to become overwhelmed with the unlimited palette when you have not much time for the development
In this work, I gave myself the freedom and had a lot of time to figure out a mood of the scene, but when it comes to limited terms this thing paletteprompts.com comes in handy.
We will consider an option for further development of this game ;)
Again thanks for your deep review
Forgot to mention about the Mage Dog
This is the thing that is not noticeable from the first glance, but this dog appears in the third scene in the mage world and he's making some kind of magical substance that he packs in some kind of the capsules? There are seen throughout the game and on the right from the dog when we see him for the first time. Then during the final scene in the magic world when we see a black hole we can see the same place where the dog was in the third scene. Everything there seems to be fine except the thing that the dog disappeared. Then we encounter that dog during the final scene when he sees us and disappears. The thing was that that dog helped us to return to MC home, he opened these two black holes in the magic world and the skeleton world.
Nice huh?
