I absolutely love the colors of the tokens and the overall palette of the level—it’s visually pleasing and well-balanced. The intro feels a bit long, but overall, this is a meticulously crafted piece of work, definitely something worth learning from!
Wow frogs be froggin'!
check out House Sitting if you haven't!
This game is really good! I love the gameplay mechanics, strategising which choice to make so it benefits the kingdom the most was really fun and challenging. I love the little details of the other factions and how each faction affects the kingdom differently. The art and dialogue are very well made, good job! I liked this game a lot, it's very polished. Well done!
Neat! I like the art style. The dialogue is cute. Should probably reduce the amount of text at the start - teach the player how to play gradually without giving them a block f text to read. enjoyed balancing the different aspects of my frog kingdom. well done.
Hey yo I like the theme and the overall aesthetic of the game feels great being a frog king yep. Gameplay wise I would have prefer it to have less events/decision in a day and have more days to be able to implement more policies so I that I can have choices for a more long term approach to determine my day to day decisions.
Hey, I honestly completely agree! There was originally scoped a concept for more ways to shake up the gameplay, (high impact events, random events at the start of a day that will change your scores, etc.) but I sadly over scoped for what I was capable of. I agree, and my primary concern is that "this isn't fun" to me, it seems monotonous and boring, and that you can likely largely click any of the options without much thought, and still probably perform relatively well. There definitely needed/needs to be an effort taken to look at the balance of the game on a macro scale, because individually, events are balanced, unique and interesting, but it all mashes up into a bit of a slog
This game has everything I like, frogs and pixels! Amazing work! 10/10
Really cute and charming game! I love the art and the writing!
The gameplay was fun too but the days were a little too long for me and I failed on the 3rd day because I kept being too nice and then my population trusted me too much (sidenote: I don't get why having too much trust causes you to lose in the story, but I get it as a gameplay element and I do think it's necessary).
But yeah overall great job I really enjoyed it :D
Hey, thanks for the feedback! I originally was going to explain it as a requirement to keep equilibrium -> Your kingdom gets too perfect? An abundance of food, wealth, and culture? Well, maybe the snakes think it's time for a hostile takeover... There was also going to be a "warning" system where you can end one day in the 90+ score, but a second day would end the run, but I found it unnecessary with how variable the loyalty score ends up over the course of a day.
I got werdly invested in the little frog kingdom. Awesome game!
a role i never knew i needed to fill! Love it, great little visuals - love the leg kicks on the throne!
Really good visuals and sounds design, gets repetitive pretty quickly tho
Thank you for the feedback! I completely understand that feeling and it's something that I was concerned about too. I originally scoped for there to be more variation in events (crises, random events that impact your decision making further), and different ways to interact/understand the scoring mechanisms, but ran out of time :O But I guess that's part of the process right?
I'm glad you enjoyed it! If you'd like some more insight into the mechanics, all events typically provide a positive or negative impact to an individual score (food, culture, etc.) If those scores were already low (i.e. 30/100) any changes to that score would provide a bigger impact to loyalty. For example, if your food score is low, and you reduce food/gain food, the loyalty swing will be that much more powerful. And the inverse is true. Food score is high and you change the score, your peoples loyalty won't care so much, that wasn't a score that was important to them. The trick to the game is trying to glean the general status of your scores in the way your loyalty shifts as you choose events, and determine how to prioritize events that way. I recognize it as being tricky, but felt that having the scores be visible would reduce the impact of the theme.
I really liked this game! The cutscenes were great, the gameplay is fun and tricky, a stellar job!
You did so much with so little!
Super well done!
