Great choice of palette.  That, the art, fluid animation, the sound and music come together to form a nice atmospheric feeling.  I found myself stuck in a few places and was unable to get past a certain point, but I'm thankful for the checkpoint system and quick restart features.  Great work, gang!

Nice game! :) I like the mechanics and movement, also sounds are good. I got stuck in some places (some bugs), but other than that I enjoyed it :) Keep up the good work!

Developer (1 edit)

Glad you enjoyed it! We've been informed

about some bugs already, we will be making a remake . With a lot of  improvements , i hope you will be forward to it!

Cool game! I enjoyed the music and sound effects, swinging around felt really good and I enjoyed the puzzles you were able to create with it. My personal favorite it the pit where you have to land in the middle to re-grapple onto the end.

If you wanted to improve, I suggest making the timer text bigger, it took me a while to notice and looked super small on my laptop. I also had a problem with getting sucked into walls when grappling and having no way out accept to reset.

Overall, a fun experience and an interesting game! Check out mine if you get a chance!

Thank you for your kind words and feedback. If you check out the game page, we have a post jam fix, and we know it isn’t perfect, but after the jam, we are moving the game to Godot and we will bug fix out phasing before adding officially. Hope you will stick around for that.

Submitted

Sure thing! Ping me when you have an updated version and I'll try it out!

Great music and sounds, I liked the feeling of the character when moving and jumping, I felt a little bit weird about the jump wall mechanic.

Developer(+1)

The wall jump is a little unintuitive, as it is a bug, but we plan to polish and bug fix out phasing and wall jumping before adding them officially in a Godot Remake.

Submitted(+1)

the art style is BOOPTIFUL and the game is pretty ez to play! keep up the good work!!!!

Developer(+1)

Thanks, but I can’t take credit for the art, and I would point you to the artist’s itch page, but they are the second submitter and they have no other work. Also thanks for the kind words about gameplay :D

Submitted(+1)

Nice and easy to play. Well done!

Submitted(+1)

Really fun game! Makes for some challenging puzzles. I did have to restart the game a few times because I got caught inside the terrain a few times. Also, I'm not sure if there is a wall jump feature or if I would bug out a second jump off a wall sometimes. Really solid concept. Just need to iron out some collision work and it'll be great! Great work! Keep it up!

Developer(+1)

There is a wall jump, but it is also a bug :D we are going to expand polish and bugfix the game in future updates, which I hope you'll stick around for

Submitted(+2)

The music is great, and the wall phasing "feature" makes for some unique situations, i got to the end but it would be nice if there was an in game tutorial, since at first i dont know how to restart so i just restarted the application, and a thing to explain the wall jumping feature in detail, would like to see this concept expanded, overall a nice game.

Developer

Yeah,  we wanted to add a tutorial, but there wasn't time during the jam. We plan to update and expand, hope you stick around for that

Understandable jams are all about time after all, will be interested for sure

I like the wall grappling and movement, it's pretty fun to mess around with. The wall phasing part isn't very intuitive though, sometimes I can phase through walls no problem and other times I get stuck in them. One more suggestion I have would be to increase the camera bounding box - basically, let the player move x distance from the center before the camera starts to move. It would make it a lot easier to click the yellow blocks while moving that way. Good job on your game!

Developer (1 edit)

Thanks for your tip about the camera, and here is a basic fix that should stop you getting stuck in walls, and make the inconsistencies of the physics easier to deal with, sorry about the audio, i didn't know my mic was on.

Submitted(+1)

The wall jumping was hard to figure out how to do. It would be nice to have either a tutorial part or something to teach the controls since was a little bit hard to figure out what everything did. But the game-play was fun, the art was great and the music was amazing. Great Job!!

Developer

Thanks for the feedback. We were going to add a tutorial, but unfortunately time constraints prevented us from doing that.

Submitted

Hey,

The controls feels a little bit hard but some getting used to it puts you in a momentum, Really simple game and I like it.

Cheers!!!

Developer

Thanks for the feedback. We were going to add a tutorial, but we couldn't in time for the jam. The whole point of the movement is to be cool too speedrun, and give the player smooth momentum, good to know it worked :D

Submitted(+1)

The wall jump felt a little difficult to do but still, the gameplay was fun. Using the hook took a little time to get used to. But the art and music kept me going. It's a fun game! I hope you keep making it even better. Thanks for the game!

Please consider playing and rating my game too. I would really appreciate it! Thanks!!

Submitted(+1)

A fun little game!

I got stuck in the walls a few times but I love how the game plays. The player movement and animation are smooth and once you get used to the hook it's a lot of fun ! :)

Congrats on the game!

Developer

Thanks for the nice feedback, the comment below you and the game page have the post jam version fix. not the final fix, as we are taking the project further in godot post jam as well, but that won't be Jam Edition, we will probably rebrand this JAM EDITION afterwards.

Submitted(+1)

I enjoy this game to be honest. It has really lovely idea with the hook? It makes it feel like a Spider-Man game in 2D. Like these old games for old consoles. I’ve encountered the same bug as everyone else with the wall but I know you will fix it after. Everyone has some sort of bugs to fix :) keep going with the game it’s cool!

Developer (1 edit)

We are aware of this, and we have come up with a basic, servicable fix, but we cannot update during the jam, but we will continue to work and improve this system in a Godot remake. Here is the fix we have.

Submitted(+1)

Loved the art

interesting spiderman simulator. going through walls = feature? thats kinda unexpected. but you do tend to get stuck on the swinging blocks that you hook onto.

I liked the music and the sprites! Sometimes you got stuck in the wall, but I´m sure you can fix it after the jam ends! Good job :)

Nice little game! I liked the idea, and it felt good to play a lot of the time, but sometimes the grapple felt like it made me fall really quick. Other than that, good game! super fun!

Developer(+1)

Yeah, the grapple physics are a main point of updates, and we will be doing a lot of tweaking.

Submitted

Awesome! That's good to hear.

Submitted

Really Cool concept!
