Hello, my name is Francisco Espindola. I'm a game development student.

I'm currently doing a college project on the game development process, and I would like to know more about it in your game.

I would like to discuss topics such as challenges faced during development, creative process and lessons learned along the way.

I am available to schedule the interview at your convenience, whether by video call or email. If you are willing to share your experience and knowledge, I would be very grateful.

Thank you

Hi Francisco—we'll be in touch. :)

Great job all around! The game fits the theme and wild cards great in a real creative way! Music, visuals, gameplay, this game got it all and excels! Puzzles were well crafted and the climb in complexity is well-paced. Lots of great smoothness in transitions, opening, camera turn, etc. that's easy to pass over but it adds a lot to giving the game a feeling of quality. Bravo!

Developer

Fantastic feedback—thanks for checking out the game before the deadline today!

Fantastic art, music, and design. Smooth difficulty progression. Overall an impressive and enjoyable game! It would have been great to have some sort of indication that some changes you make are temporary. I think including camera controls in the HUD could be a helpful touch. And I agree with other comments that a pause function could be nice and could reduce the number of retries.

Developer

Very kind words and definitely agree re: the temporary block movement and the HUD camera controls and a pause button

Game was obviously very polished and the UI was amazing... no idea how you guys had the time to put that all together in the short time frame.

The graphics, music, and sound were great too.

I just wish your game was a little longer felt like a bit of a waste not having more levels, that being said the levels did have were good and built up the challenge and introduced new elements as you went so probably just complaining because I wanted more...

Great submission! Thanks

Developer(+1)

Lovely to hear that feedback! Happy you were left wanting more!

Submitted(+2)

Extremely well polished, very professional! I had a lot of fun with this, and it's surprisingly challenging, especially the last level. The victory screen looked really great too :)

Developer(+1)

thanks for the lovely feedback!

Submitted(+2)

Really nice puzzle mechanic, love the color palette you use, and the little guys models.

The gameplay is simple and solid.

Excelent game!

Developer

Appreciate the kind comments. :)

Submitted(+2)

I really like the puzzle mechanic, its easy to understand but has potential for cool puzzles :)
Generally a very well polished game!

As others already said, my main wishes for improvements were a pause menu (at best one that lets you still look around) and smooth camera controls that make it easier to understand the level layout

Developer(+1)

we have requests for a fast forward button and for a pause button now! Both have their place I think!

Submitted(+2)

Great fun! Maybe the timered platforms could use some indication for their status change. Otherwise 5/5!

Developer(+1)

Ah, cool idea for a little bit of gameflow improvement! Glad you enjoyed. :)

Submitted(+3)

It was truly a pleasure to play this game: an excellent idea and very well executed.

For quick and simple improvements, I would add a pause button to the game. Also, it took me a while to realize what the line at the top of the screen represented since I always have my focus on the character. I would make it so that when the character reaches the gateway to heaven, a cloud appears above them, and they rise up to it to disappear. Additionally, I would bring the camera closer to the level to improve visibility on smaller screens.

Best of luck with it!

Developer

Thanks for the refinement suggestions and for playing our entry! Our developer is indeed taking another pass at the game, so constructive feedback like this is very much appreciated. :)

I love Lemmings. This brought me memories!

Developer (1 edit)

Lemmings was indeed a big inspiration; lovely to hear it took you back to simpler times!

I enjoyed this game!! I had a few eureka-moments while playing, which is a great feeling when playing a puzzler. I think the level design is quite clever, and nicely done doing a puzzle game with distinct and satisfying solutions.

I only got a little bit derailed by the fact that I didnt understand that you could rotate the camera for a little while (I probably missed the instruction somewhere). Well done with a cool ending, the game fits the theme and the wildcards!

Overall I think all pieces fit very nicely together, art, music and gameplay!

Well done!!!!

Developer(+1)

Thanks! I probably should have made all the controls clickable instead of mixing mouse and keyboard. Might have made it easier to "discover" camera rotation

Developer

Happy to know our balance came off well, and the puzzle design of our super-talented dev was as much fun to others as it was to us.

Indeed noticing the similarities of our two games too in terms of level quantity / length and dedication to style + polish. A pleasure to be in such good company. :)

Nice one, very well done, and fun to play, I really loved it, god music, and challenging levels, that’s really a nice work.

Great to hear it was to your liking—thanks for checking it out!

Developer

Ecstatic you enjoyed. :)

Gameplay Controls and Accessibility I had no issues. The game itself plays pretty smooth and the difficulty increases just right. Also nice variety on mechanics you got there!

@Pete great job as developer on this and also doing the 3d graphics! I mean yes there could be more details to the models and environment but this basic graphics works really fine and doing development for all these must have been lots of effort!

Music and sounds are really good. I love the music vibe.

The menu was some times a bit too slow, could be faster, but the design is top notch.

Maybe for the stacking levels some transparent objects if stuff is overlapping when hovering with the mouse over them. (even with rotating WASD, would be cool to see more from the level) But don’t see anything further.

Was a lot fun to play and Good job to all of you. Great Submission!

Developer (1 edit)

Great tips and potential refinements in addition to the kind comments; thanks Xandruher, and congrats on Escape Velocity and Overthrow as well!

Submitted(+3)

This was a nice puzzler. Immediately struck by the attention to detail in intro screen/menu. Fun was had there! :D

I think the progression of difficulty was nice, had some trouble with the 3 lane map at first, but figured it out and felt smart after a while (cornerstone of any puzzler, making the player feel smart :D)

The last level, after quite a few attempts, I remembered "damn, wasd move the camera?!" and I immediately saw the solution.

Nice ending, some real reward after playing.

Very nicely done everyone. Sounded great too, and funny with the tickeling of the wizards!

Developer(+1)

Lovely words—thank you. :)

Your submission was a blast as well!

Great quality from the beginning. Great quality on UI, music and sound effects in the menu and game. Even a custom cursor! Nice!

Nice, clean graphics. Although some anti-aliasing would be nice. Not sure if that's issue with Godot? At least I had problems with anti-aliasing for Line2Ds.

Perspective is confusing in the later levels, but Ii  guess that's the point and that's why you can rotate the camera, too me a bit to realize :D

Small bug - if you spam "start" before animation ends, the game hangs with no clickable buttons and music playing.

Great entry!

Developer (1 edit) (+1)

Appreciate the encouraging feedback (and noting the input bug)! Line2Ds (particularly curving and animating them) were a tough one to get looking okay, haha. Thanks for checking the game out and giving us our first comment. :)

Submitted(+1)

I would experiment with adding a slight blur to the entire screen (behind UI layer) and see if it helps. ;)

Developer(+2)

Godot 4’s compatibility renderer has limited support for post processing effects so I didn’t even look into AA. Now the jam is over I might make a high fidelity remake
