Your cheat mechanic is awesome, so well implemented and perfect unique take on the theme! Very nice, and I hope to see it developed even further, thank you for sharing your work on it in the jam!

And if you haven't had a chance to check out my game Foxy Boom Boxy, I would appreciate any feedback, thanks!

Gotta say, the reboot system page is very well made, but after the first time it needs a quick skip button for sure. Otherwise, great job! I can see it using interesting cheat mechanics other than noclip, like a debug tool to open a devmode and alter the level layout. Were graphics and sounds made by you? Very cool if that's the case :)

Developer

The skip button after the first encounter of the reboot scene is a great suggestion! I never thought of that. Anyways, thanks for your feedback! Glad you like it.

The idea is really original. Good old skool platformer with nice pixel graphics and addictive chiptune. I really have no complaints. Even the reboot sequence is not too long for me. One of my favorites so far.

Developer

Thank you so much! Glad you like it!

Very cool with  being in mid air with the hacks. The levels are pretty big with no checkpoints, but it's good looking and fun.

Thanks for your feedback! Glad you like it!

Really original take on the theme. Loved it! As others mentioned don't remove the rebooting screen, just make it shorter. Because I died, and cheated. A lot.

Btw, very juicy. What are the credits for visual art and music may I ask?

Developer

Thanks for your feedback! Glad you like it! Unfortunately, I forgot where do I get the assets. But obviously all of them are free to use. And some of them was made by myself.

I did a playthrough of your game.

Wow! Thanks for the effort of playing, recording, and uploading my game! You've played it well! That's how I imagine the players will play my game.

That's a solid game! I agree with most people that game loop when player cheats is too long, but still it is a fun to extend existing mechanics!

Developer

Thanks for your feedback! Glad you like it!

I really enjoyed your game! The idea is simple but very original, the only thing I would advise you is to reduce the shutdown screen.

Dang ! thats a smart idea to get cheat in the game to finish it ! :D

i was able to beat level 1 2 and 3 ! and got stuck on 4 its a lil hard for me <.>

would be cool if you can add a restart level button somewhere or if the player fall down :3

overall, Amazing game !

Developer(+1)

Hi! you can restart the game by pressing "R" it's stated in the description and in level 1. Anyways, thanks for your feedback!

Amazing Game - Loved the Mechanics. I found this game to be super interesting because it explores ways to play that have never existed. I've never heard of a game where you HAVE to cheat. It's honestly so clever. I was a big fan of the music and the art. Nothing seemed out of place (art-wise) and this was really fun. I would add a transition with a shape painter through the extension to add a fluidity through different changes in scene. It's really easy to implement. Also on the Death Screen I would add Advance Bloom from the Effects to give it that glowy neon-like feel. Great Job on the game however.

If your free please check out my game Angry Magnet. If you wouldn't mind I'm looking for valuable and critical feedback and a rating. https://itch.io/jam/gdevelop-game-jam-4/rate/2213787

Thanks for your suggestion and feedback! I'll take note of it. Glad you like it!

Awesome game, and nice bright presentation. It's a bit punishing when you run out of time while cheating in terms of how much you have to wait to go again, but this is a great concept and execution. Good job!
I'd appreciate it if you can also check out and rate my entry as well :)

What I liked the most: Pixelart of the scenery and the sound.

What I least liked: long time to reset after cheat detection and constant right hand switching between JK keys and mouse interaction.

I found a bug when taking a hit from the cannonball and triggering the glitch at the same time causing paralysis in an attack loop that led to the character's death.

Developer(+1)

I agree the detection and reboot scene was quite long. I intended to make the player feel that getting caught really happens and the device will really shuts down. To make the player feel the consequence of getting caught. Anyways, thanks for your feedback!

I like the idea of being able to cheat in a game, so when it's necessary to complete the level, it's even better !

I really like the shutdown animation when you cheat for too long...

Developer

Thanks for your feedback, glad you like it!

very nice graphics

Thanks!

I love the idea, but I think I got confused the first few times with the cheat mode. I thought cheat mode was 'loading' when the bar was moving to the right. Then I thought the game reloaded 'with cheat mode on' so I died again when I let the cheat bar load all the way. Finally got the hang of it, but I felt the time you could use cheats was SO ridiculously short (when the whole point of the game is to use cheat mode you really got to make that the star of the show!)
Top marks for visuals and audio!

Developer

The timer of cheat is short because I don't want the player to just use the cheat to pass through all the obstacles of the level. I want it short to make the player strategize  on using the cheat and not just spam it. Anyways, thanks for your feedback!

This was a fun one.

I like how the bats in the later levels telegraphed the path forward; it's a neat level design detail.

Given the tight deadline on cheating, an option to turn cheat from "toggle" to "hold" could be convenient; it was a little unintuitive timing both presses of the cheat button.

Great job!

Developer

Thanks for your feedback! It means a lot to me.

Cool mechanic and some very clever level design and use cases for the cheat. The art looks great with a lot of consistency. All in all really enjoyable, maybe I would have like if the reboot took a little bit less time, and this is hard to say because maybe I am just bad at the game but I would have preferred it a little bit easier for a jam game, but that is the only criticism I got, other than that it is a very polished experience

Developer

Yes. The detection and reboot scene is quite long. But I made it that way to feel the consequence of getting caught. Like your device really shuts off. Anyways, thanks for your feedback. I appreciate it a lot!
