goods puzzles and the core mechanic is really well implemented. I really want to play more.

Thanks for the comment! While I don't have a clear idea about what kind of games I want to make, I want to expand the game's universe. Perhaps Roland will go on another adventure, or his master's familiar, Kory the kobold will go on an adventure like Roland. I dunno if it'll be a puzzle-platformer like this one, though.
nice simple puzzle game i think you should expend on it after the jam .pleas rate my game and give feedbackhttps://ben1t0buko.itch.io/lost-treasure1
This is great, especially after learning this is your first jam! You've got a solid core for a more advanced game in the future!
This game was super fun! I really love the puzzles and the lines of dialogue are charming. A small quality-of-life change would be to have the skip dialogue and the next dialogue button be the same, as alternating between space and enter was a bit annoying. However, I do understand that it prevents players from accidentally skipping text, so maybe having them being customizable in a menu would be the best solution. That's out of scope for a game jam game, but maybe in the future! Overall, the puzzles were very fun and I liked all of the mechanics!
Great game! I loved the athmosphere, good use of lighting :)
First of all, thank you for featuring my game in one of your videos!
Second of all, WTF is this talent?!
When I first saw the theme, I immediately thought of the on/off switch from Mario Maker, but it quickly fell through because I don't think I can execute the vision well. And you are executed it beautifully.
Like you've said, the game play is inspired by Mario, though I think this game is closer to Mario Galaxy. Because only one brown lamp can be lit at a time, the "ON" part of the theme comes with its own pros and cons, and not "If I'm good enough, I can ON all the time". I have to carefully plan out my routes to progress.
I've heard you said you afraid the environment is too dark, but this combined with the light ball really encourages exploration. Because I can freely move in any given set piece(not between set pieces, which is what I think the barriers are for) as a light ball, I can get as much info as I want while keeping the claustrophobic atmosphere mostly intact. I went out of my way getting all the collectables because I know where they are and what to do to get them.
The story, while bleak, is hopeful and effectively explains the lore behind the mechanics.
Finally, say hi to Kory for me :), 10/10
Thanks for the comment and the detailed explanation on why you loved my game! I enjoyed playing your game, and I'm glad that you've enjoyed playing my game, too. Maybe someday, I will make a game featuring Kory as the main protagonist. I dunno what game it'll be on top of my head at the moment, but I'm hoping when I start working on it, it'll be a great game.
Great game. The feels, the gameplay, and the mechanic fits well!
Really creative take on the theme, and I love that the script says ladders are for losers xD althought some platforms end up acting as them. And after you fall in a pit you hear the water splash SFX, which was a bit odd, but other than that the game is absoulutelly awesome
amazing game even the story the only thing i would change is make the character look more like wizard probably and fix some bugs because i somehow managed to break the game and now its impossible
could you also check out my game rating is greatly appreciated :) https://itch.io/jam/gdevelop-game-jam-4/rate/2216257
Thanks for the comment! I'm not an artist, so obviously the character looks like a generic human. :P
Also, I didn't expect a glitch right there. Did you play the itch.io version or the gd.games version? Because the latter is the better version of the game and doesn't have any noticeable glitches, except for sound effects lagging at the beginning when you first play it or the animation acting all weird at times due to lag (this also happened in another game I made with GDevelop a month ago). I made a walkthrough video of the gd.game version of the game as well if you want to take a look at it. It's in the comments section below.
Love the sense of humor :) game needs to be fasten up a bit but it's a solid attempt, and the jam theme is definitely on point with this. Nice audio too, even if my thousands of hours on TF2 spoiled me with the broken bone noise :D
prety good but it lags and there is too much text p.s pls play my game https://coolcodedude.itch.io/a-light-in-the-dark ratings are greatly appreciated
There is too much text and the delay with skipping text is not fun. The gameplay itself is fun, but the dialogue and how it's set up is really holding it back with how it fully stops gameplay. I wish there was a Dialogue skip button with how much it came on screen in the first area alone.
I like the idea, but it feels like this litting of the torches along with jumping fast kind of makes it an intense puzzle platformer, which mixes both fast and slow gameplay mechanics
Thanks for the comment! My goal was for the player to get a feeling about how the game is in the first couple of levels, then turn up the difficulty in the final two levels to show what the game has to offer. However, it looks like I went too far with raising the difficulty, since other people in the comments section have mentioned how difficult the game gets in the final two levels. So I had to post a walkthrough video to show how to beat the game.
So much dialogue it felt a bit annoying, but the gameplay was very intereseting. A great use of the jam theme I must say! Loved the sound effects, some had a bit of a delay (i.e.:dying to spirits)
Also I think that some graphics style don't match. But the game idea is pretty good!
Thanks for the comment! This is the first time I've submitted a game for a Jam, so I decided to make a platformer (which is my favorite game genre) with some dialogue and lore mixed into it for players who are interested in them. I have to remind myself that not everyone is interested in a game that has a lot of dialogue, though.
