Very nice game, the writing is great. It would have been neat if the NPCs returned with the results of the quest, or if there was some more feedback on your choices. Seemed mostly like a dialogue heavy game, so a few more mechanics could really enhance the experience. Great aesthetic too!

Developer

Thank you! By far the most suggested thing, so definitely on our list for things to work on!

Made me nostalgic for a type of game I never actually played! Would definitely be nice to get some more feedback on the choices, it wasn't clear if there was any benefit to being rude or nice to me.

Developer

Haha thanks for the feedback, glad you enjoyed!

The dialogue is actually quite engaging. I actually laughed out loud when the NPC called his sister a harlot lol. Great game!

Developer(+1)

Hahaha glad you enjoyed, our writers were great! Thanks!

Cute game! I thought the dialogue was funny and enjoyed the concept :)

I wish there was more feedback on how your choices would affect your outcome at the end, it kinda felt a bit aimless with what options I was picking.

Otherwise, good job!

Developer

Thanks! Definitely our focus if we do further work!

An interesting idea, but it seemed like I was just making random choices the whole time. None of the choices ever really seemed to be more suitable than another based on the earlier conversations, they all seemed of equal value. It did make me laugh when I sent someone to fetch my pants though lol

Developer

Thanks for the feedback, yes getting some sort of response system to hint at you when you've picked a better option would be one of the first things we'd look at patching in.

I love how you can be rude to the players and they don't even seem phased by it, but the best part is that they'll still do your quest. Also, I love how you can tell them to go to a sketchy part of town and deliver a sketchy package, and they'll still do the quest lol. I also like that you can tell them to do something with no reward and they'll still do it! This game has a lot of good stuff going for it like the art, music, dialogue, and the various amounts of outcomes for the game. I definitely enjoyed playing, great game!

Developer(+1)

Thanks! Glad you had fun. Something we're thinking of implementing in the future is different dialogue for the players where they do refuse quests or only grudgingly accept.

Funny to see another take on our similar base idea! The text was very deep and with many options I was surprised! I think what the game needs now is a good player feedback to know what options was good and which one was wrong (just like for my team's game). Otherwise the presentation was nice and fitting, great job!

Developer(+1)

Thank you, we greatly enjoyed yours as well!

I don't normally like text based games, but this one really drew me in.

Developer(+1)

Thanks for playing, glad you enjoyed it!

Love the idea and the execution, but never really got over the first few conversations because I felt a little bit weird for some reason.

Still, a pretty good-looking game IMO.

The visual presentation was great! This reminded me of another NPC style game I played earlier that you might be interested in. https://itch.io/jam/gmtk-2023/rate/2150674

Developer

Thanks! We'll have to check that one out as well!

I like the idea and execution. Who doesn't want to become an NPC with a pet rat who lost his pants down the river. The writing is well done, with the art and music being consistent with the whole setting.

The main issue I have is that there is no way of knowing how well I've done. Many of the choices would be memorable for me, so it's hard to tell if I should go for a funny or helpful one. Having the player come back, being able to gain feedback by viewing from some kind of forum, or simply just having a number go up or down would be useful.

Great job on the game and hope to see you in the sequel!

Developer(+1)

Thank you! Our writers did a wonderful job!

Yes, that's definitely the most consistent feedback - we're definitely thinking of doing more work, so that will probably be our top priority!

I had a blast playing your game. Love the humor and the writting. If I had to say something negative, maybe the font is a bit too hard to read. Great job!

Developer(+1)

So glad you enjoyed it!

Nice game! NPC life is a tough one. Loved the humor and the witty dialogues.

The little details when you click in the exclamation and the lantern are great!

Developer

Thank you! Haha, glad someone noticed!

Submitted(+2)

Loved the art style and writing. The font is kinda hard to read though,

Developer

Thanks for the feedback! Definitely a common issue, we'll probably patch a better font in at a later date!

Nice game! If you're planning to polish the game in the future, would love to see the NPC being able to change their look according to the current dialogue, and maybe having different dialogue options based and player characters' level/class.

Developer

Thanks! Yes, given more time, we absolutely would have loved to have done that - and possibly will in future! Doing different options based on level/class is a neat idea too!

Super fun game with a concept that could get so many great additions later down the line.

Really fun to play. Keep it up!

Developer

Thank you! We would certainly love to do that!

I get the humor of this game, it's very meta with trying to avoid things that annoy the Player Character. I'd suggest if your team keeps going with this idea, that the game could go for a longer period, and PCs would return looking for their loot. If you'd promised a sword to two people as the ultimate prize, but can only give it to one... Oh boy, the PC that got forgotten certainly won't be forgetting how annoying that sidequest was anytime soon..!

It'd become a game of balancing your inventory and promises, even doing trades with some adventurers to acquire things that you've promised but not obtained yet.

As it stands, nice music, nice presentation. Great effort for a jam game!

Developer

Thanks! Glad it was fun!
That's a really good idea, like it a lot - we may do future work so that would be something we could try and do!

Submitted(+2)

I found myself looking forward to the next person's outfit. lol. Every game should have an NPC like the NPC in this game. It would be so much fun. Great job!

Developer

Thank you! Glad you enjoyed!

I hope you guys continue to work on this, the concept is amazing

Great concept, great game! I do wish I got some feedback as I played as to how well I'm doing so I could either keep using the same strategy or adjust how I make choices (though maybe there is some if you do poorly; apparently I did very well). Maybe have a progress report in the middle that tells the player to either "Keep up the good work" or "Get their act together?"

Developer (1 edit)

Thanks! Yeah that's been the most consistent feedback so far. We've already had a few ideas on how to do this if we were to patch anything in at a later date :)
