A very cool take on a tower defense game! Very creative concept and cool art. The music also fits the theme. Overall a really cool game, good job!

I like how you constantly need to be on your toes--it is possible to create some strong arrangements, but to prevent enemies from reaching the base, you'll need to move towers on the fly. Throwing the dice towers is fun, though it feels a bit imprecise and unruly. Maybe controlling the dice throw direction and distance/speed with the mouse cursor would help with that if you wanted to expand the project. Overall, though, I really liked it!

Developer

We definitely were tempted to change the dice throw, but when we started experimenting with diagonal throws and bank shots off the wall/enemies, it was just too fun to get rid of and added a nice sense of mastery to the "unruly" throw. Did you ever try those tricks while playing and did it make any difference for you?

I got the hang of the trickshots eventually, and they certainly make it easy to place a tower in a specific location that is far away from you. Though it does make slightly moving towers or trying to reroll them while keeping them in the same spot more difficult. Being able to push the dice maybe would make small adjustments to existing towers easier while still requiring mastery of the bank shots to place them otherwise. Overall the dice throw is still very fun, though!

Very fun and engaging! Not really a fan of tower defense games but this is a good one. Great job on this entry!

A nice, creative idea, fells quite polished too! :)

Its a bit hard though, the enemies have too much health (in my case most of them just ran through  everything the towers shot at them) and the mechanic to loose money when you collide with an enemy just makes it even harder (i guess the stun time you get is already punishment enough, as you loose time in repositioning your towers)

If you want to continue on the idea you could make different kind of dice (maybe even customizable between levels) for example, make the player choose what kind of tower is on wich side, so you can have more then 6 tower types in your game but only use the 6 per level (maybe you could a different dices too like a D4)

I love the ideas and thinking you had while playing our game and we'll definitely consider these things if we do release an update. Thank you for your detailed comment!

Got to wave 37 and still counting lol (Writing this review while playing the game in the background).

This game is great! The concept is good and the presentation is enough for the game to be enjoyable.

One thing that i don't understand is why control the cursor with the keyboard and not with mouse? One control scheme that i can think of using a mouse is, clicking to pickup a dice, and than click and drag to catapult the dice. Unless of course if controlling the cursor using keyboard is intended. I would love to hear the reasoning behind this control scheme.

This game also needs to ramp up the difficulty. Not by increasing the amount of enemies, but by increasing the density when they come in. By the time i'm writing this, the game is still going on because the enemies can't get past through my defense.

A button to immediately begin the next wave is also nice to have. Or maybe detect when all enemies from the current wave have all been defeated to begin the next wave.

This was a breath of fresh air. No puzzling, the die roll was relevant but I didn't have to worry about it too much. I thought the difficulty curve was a little too high, but I'm also bad at these sort of things. I applaud your creativity, the random towers create interesting scenarios and the roll part is implemented too with that bounce effect. To be honest, I found that bounce effect the most interesting thing that you added to the game. It felt a little harsh sure, but it added a level of active engagement to the tower defense game, and with a little tweaking could make yours a step above the rest. Good job!

This game was really creative and chaotic, and felt pretty polished. I particularly liked that the dice could be used in different creative ways. The controls were a bit difficult for me, and I would get frustrated if the cursor got stuck on something or hit some enemies. Still, I had fun!

I had a lot of fun playing this game, it is one of my favorites so far!  Nice usage of the themes, the flexibility of the dice as a tower or just as something to throw at the enemies is great!

Please add: (1) more levels, (2) fullscreen option and (3) support for other keyboard mappings (e.g. allow the arrow keys as directional keys and use the physical WASD [but this is an issue for user of Dvorak/Colemak/Workman/... keyboard mappings).

The concept of throwing dice to place them while having the choice to pick it up and throw it again for a different tower is really cool! A fresh take on the usual tower defence genre requiring some skill in positioning your tower.

This a very creative and cool concept. I really like the art and I love tower defense games! It's a bit hard but I like it that way. Great entry!

A very creative take on the theme, making the player throw the dice to both place as towers and roll for their type at the same time is really clever. The sounds are very juicy and elevate the fun factor, but the art can use work and polish. As for gameplay, right now it's too hard at the very beginning and the shop loses a lot of health, but with each additional die it gets easier and easier exponentially, leaving the player with nothing better to do than just watching the number of waves go up. Adding some additional depth, like making the towers have limited ammo so the player have to reroll them during the waves, making the different enemies impervious to different types of damage so the player have to adjust on the fly, would make it more engaging. Still, it's definitely a unique entry and was fun to play for a little while.

I really appreciate the criticisms and ideas for the game as somebody who played it a lot. I had the same thoughts about how the dice should be forced to change or adjust in future waves and we'll definitely look into that depth in a future update if we go that route. As far as a game jam build, we made a priority of leaning into an easier difficulty and generally allowing the player to make decent progress at the start. Thank you so much for the detailed comment!

What a blast! I love that you can stun the enemies by throwing the dice at them, and that they hurt your cursor on contact. It felt much more engaging than most TD games due to the need to constantly throw the dice around. Thanks for the fun game!

This game was really really great actually! I very much so enjoyed it! overall it was just really good! the way the player had to move the mouse around was really interesting and unique which is something I haven't seen before! The only thing I wanted of the game was more, more levels, enemy's and of course coins. def one of the better games ive played awesome job you guys really made a great game!

Pretty cool concept! Tough as nails, though. I enjoyed throwing the dice around and seeing all the different sides.

Very good, polished and dynamic. I like it.

Really good, enjoyable to throw the dice across the map and sometimes have it bounce off an enemy, it doesn't do very good at explaining what the different dice do. (or at least I can't seem to figure it out) it presents a good challenge and is very well made. It is also kind of difficult, but is still really fun!

Amazing game! Great idea, great art, great music, good balance between running with the dice and leaving them in place, felt really good to play!

best TD I've seen so far. very well done, the art is very beautiful, the only thing I would change is the contrast of the coin on the map. It was very difficult to see and I ended up running out of money to buy more dice on the first try. After I saw it, I was able to pick it up and I was able to play effectively. other than that, very good job!

If you have time, could you please test my game? I would really appreciate honest feedback.

Very different take on the tower defense game, but I like it! I definitely had to get the hang of moving the cursor with WASD and then "throwing" towers across the map, but it presented an interesting challenge. Nicely done!
