Interesting way of doing movement.  It made you have to think every time you move, but I think I prefer this control scheme to a lot of the other games like this that mapped up/down/left/right to an isometric setting (I constantly get which direction is which mixed up in those).

Really nice puzzle game! Nice execution and nice graphics! Good job!

Interesting spin on puzzles. The movement choice/restriction has to be my favorite mechanic out of all the games I played in the jam. You've also accounted for people who don't already know the sides of dice, allowing space for figuring it out as the game is being played for levels that rely on memorization. Great job.

Nice and tricky puzzle game. Movement is slow but great aesthetic.

Very nice visuals and great music choice! A little slow, but still fun!

Sorry about the slowness, had the 'brilliant' idea of making animations framerate based, and didn't think ahead enough to account for WebGL's 'magic' :P

But I'm glad you like it regardless ^^ Thanks for playing :)

So many similar games where you roll the die on the floor, square by square, but seeing this unique take on how you control it was like a breath of fresh air, so it was fun to roll this die for a while. The level design is also well executed and guide the player in solving the puzzles.

P.S. It was funny how making my own entry prepared me for unusual controls in yours.

I really good ideér. the movment is a bit slow.

The levels was simple but challaging, The menu and the opening looks good. but the controls slows the game down, and make it annoying to play.

but it was a good and fun ideer.

Very nice visuals and really tricky too!

Solid puzzle game! The movement felt a bit slow and floaty for me and could use some more juice. Other then that the puzzles got surprisingly in depth and well designed, more so then I expected. Good job!

Developer

Thanks for playing and your feedback!

I am very happy to say that I just found out about an issue with framerate being suboptimal in non-Chrome browsers, and I added a note about it to my play page to let any new players know!

Thank you so much about letting me know, and I’m sorry I didn’t find out on time for your playthrough!

For a 48-hour jam, this game is impressive. Had to stop because of lag, though nice work!

Developer

Thanks! I'm sorry about the performance issues.
I'll know better than to make framerate-based animations starting next game, though!

Okay! Thanks for the response :)

Really good aesthetic and loved the control scheme- In most of these games I normally feel like I'm moving randomly to hope that the right side comes up but this one forced me to think a little bit before making moves and I really liked it!

Developer

I'm really glad to hear that <3
I tried quite hard on level design and making gameplay progression feel natural.

Thanks for playing!

Despite all these games I still can't move the die easily haha. Otherwise great intro and good game!

Developer

Thank you!

Pro-tip: Any two opposite sides of the dice sum-up to 7.
Hope that makes it a little easier from now on haha :D

The game looks interesting! Sadly, input doesn't seem to work for me, pressing 6 on my keyboard in level 1 does nothing.

The typing to move in direction is an intresting mechanic, that took some practice but after that, the game works really well and was fun. Also I love the main menu, very cool!

Submitted(+1)

Typing the number to move in that direction took some getting used to (and even still it's a little cumbersome for long straightaways) but is very interesting.  The tiles falling into place to make the levels is just so much fun to watch.  I feel like the keys and locks don't really add all that much to the design; it seems like (unless I am missing something, which is totally possible) it basically lets you combine shorter levels together to make longer ones, which is a good idea but when one mistake can force you to have to redo a level, I'm less of a fan.  Great work overall.

Developer(+1)

I was hoping to familiarize the player with the dice when dealing with long straightways,
-- but I guess there were some side effects to that though, haha :'D

You're right about the keys & locks. There is a single mechanic that could make them worth their while, but I couldn't find a place for it, lol.
It would be basically if you somehow unlocked a tile that would allow you to rotate your dice as needed, in order to reach the next step.

Thanks for the feedback, and thanks for playing!

First off, the presentation is top notch and I love the creativity.  The game play was really fun with the numbers and math.  I still don't grok how to roll a dice, but by the end of this jam I surely will!

The movement by typing the side number is interesting although it takes me very long to move like I want to xD

Developer (1 edit)

Haha yeah that's the whole game xD
I hope the level-based progression helped making this a bit easier :)

Thanks for playing!

oh god my laptop hates this game wtf. I only saw the intro unfortunately:( Very cool intro how did you manage to make something this amaizing for a jam :O

Developer

Aw, I'm sorry to hear about the performance issues... I didn't really think about performance for <60fps laptops + monitors :'(
-- making animations framerate dependent instead of real-time dependent probably wasn't the best idea.

Glad you like the intro :D Funny story actually.. Core game was finished in the first day, then I had to choose between implementing a new game mode & level selection & high scores, etc vs spending the whole day on a main menu.. I think it's clear what won xD

It syncs better with the music in desktop version, but I made it be much quicker on WebGL so people wouldn't waste so much time on the main menu :p I took this video though for remembering it ^^

watching this intro is a standalone expierience lol

Cool concept! Well done :)

Really cool game! I loved that you actually put effort into animations (like the levels building up etc.) was a really cool touch! Also I liked that you slowly added challenges that made the whole thing more complex with each level as you got used to controlling the game. I had a really fun time with it, my only wish would have been that the die turns a bit faster once you press the button, but otherwise you did a great job!

Developer(+1)

I had the 'fun' idea of making animations framerate dependent, so probably slow movement has a lot to do with that :P
I was originally planning to add an options menu, where you could tweak the movement speed (and game speed overall), but while starting on that I got the other 'fun' idea of spending the rest of the development time to make a nice looking main menu.

Thanks a lot for playing and for the feedback ^^
Next time I'll definitely prioritize polishing the QOL as far as I can take it before jumping on the 'fun' stuff haha :D
