Had a lot of fun playing this game! That may have been because I have a soft spot for gambling but I think the thing that suckered me in the most was seeing the upgrades and seeing how high they could go. This was my high score in the end!

Developer

Thank you for playing and really happy to hear that you liked it :)
If I were to further improve this game, would definitely add a lot more to make the end game a lot longer and more varied.

Thank you again for the kind words, really makes me feel rewarded.

Simple game yet fun to play! Really fits the concept of the roll of the dice!. Also could you check out my game too? if you dont mind

Developer (1 edit)

Thank you for playing ! Have just taken a look at your game and I was definitely impressed. Would be looking forward to you developing it further :D

Quite simple but realy fun game! I got excited about upgrading bombs and planks and then I died xd

Developer

The RNG definitely needs more work (but wouldn't be able to completely remove it). Thank you for playing and liking it !, means a lot to me :D

I found it very fun, very satisfying! Congrats for the submission!

This game is fun,but needs polishing.Good job!

by the way could you play and rate my game?

Developer

Thank you for the feedback, will check it out !

Underpromises and overdelivers. It's weird that you eventually just run out of items.

Developer

Thank you for playing ! I originally planned to at least have enough items so that the whole board would have level 3 items.  But I ran out of image art to use and only have half the game built on the end of Day 1. Opted to finish the rest of the game first so I can be sure that I would have a game to submit. Never had the chance to come up with more images since I never expected that there would be so so much bugs and errors to fix near the end of Day 2 :P

Again, glad to hear you enjoyed it !

Honestly this is a pretty fun game even though it only evolves clicking. The art is good and the gameplay experience wasn't bad at all. Nice game, overall <3

Developer

Thank you for the feedback! Really tried to make it as simple as possible, but added enough things to do ,to avoid be too boring.
(I really liked the simplicity of your game also, simple rules, but lots of depth, will be very happy to play your game again if you plan to further expand it).

Again, thank you for the kind words : )

This took me by surprise a little bit - I enjoyed it much more than I initially thought I would. The description page made it sound very RNG dependent, but the wise addition of choosing items each battle to the slots added an interesting strategic depth. Kudos. I might come back to this one later and see how high I can get the level (I hear the record so far was 75).

The art and music assets you used were also well picked as well to give an interesting and congruent feel.

In your comment you mentioned not being able to finish your plans for this game. I wouldn't worry too much, this game is very polished and enjoyable for a solo dev in a 48 hour period!

PS: Thanks for reviewing my game.

Developer

Thank you for playing ! I'm really happy to hear that you enjoyed it.
Yeah, most of the variation got lost due to not having time, but glad to hear that it still retained some strategy.
I learned so much during those 48 hours and will definitely do this again next year !

Again, thank you for the kind words :)

Very fun you made a great game in two days.nice job.

Its pretty fun to play.

It took me some minutes to really figure it, but when it clicked, I got hooked.
Pretty fun core loop!

Developer

Thank you for checking the game out ! glad to hear that you enjoyed the game :)

I got to level 22!  Really well designed!  This feels like a mobile or browser game already, which is insane for coming out of a 48 hour game jam.

I really liked how you collected items over time and the slot roller would fill up over time.  The upgrades were also a great design choice since it helps you keep up with the enemy progression while working well with the RNG (which I've noticed is hard to design progression around).

Nice job!

Developer(+1)

Glad to hear that you liked it ! Yeah, was aiming for a balance between trying to fill up the slots, while also trying to avoid the bloat of small items (by trying to combine them). If I had a bit more time, would've balanced it a bit better and added more variety. But got to work with what time was given :P

Thank you again for the kind words !

Very good submission. Spinning the wheel and choosing upgrades is very satisfying.

I like the how the slow rolling mechanic developed, made a simple game quite addictive. I reached 70! (Is that a high score? :D )

Developer (1 edit)

Thank you for playing ! I believe bobertsson (dev of "Dice Control") have mentioned earlier in the comments on reaching level 75. My personal best while play-testing was 71 I believe. Definitely makes me happy to hear that there are players like you who are willing to play long enough to reach these high levels.

Thank you again and glad that you liked it !

Pretty addicting game with a great amount of polish. Good job!

Developer

Thank you for playing ! really liked your bomberman-esque game also :D

That was seriously cool. Perfect use of the criteria. This could be a really successful phone game practically AS IS. I'm sure you got a bunch of other ideas for it if you were to develop it further... but I'd suggest hiring a composer for the music. Not just saying that because I'm a composer and I'd love to do that job for ya (I did the music and sfx for that ""Golf Cart Golf"" game and ""CathoBot"" in this Jam)... but more specifically... I know that the repetitive track would be the only thing holding me back from playing this again and again. solid game loop. super simple to learn what's going on. music is great, don't get me wrong... but I could see it being the FIRST thing to get annoying.

Developer(+1)

Hi Broson ! Really liked your music in "Golf Cart Golf", it made the game so relaxing, even if the "Dice Golf Ball" is frustrating to control :P
(will check out CathoBot in a few moment).

Also thank you for the feedback, the music was really just a last minute feature I added. In the future, if I do try to make this a fully fleshed out game, will definitely make sure not to neglect the sound design and music. Will also remember you and might even try to ask for your expert advice (and if I can maybe a commission?).

Thank you for the kind words, it's always nice to see your work appreciated :D

If you'd like we can talk about that on discord or something. I try not to put my payment agreements in comments because it varies from team to team. My discord is Bronsolo#4491 if you'd like to entertain the idea. But I'll tell you you'll find my rates more than agreeable.

Developer (1 edit) (+1)

Thank you! will definitely keep this in mind, unfortunately I do not have discord at the moment. I mainly created this Itch.io account just for the GMTK game jam. I currently am just trying to focus on learning game dev as much as I can at the moment. And trying to keep my self grounded and doing my best to improve everyday.

If I do go ahead and tried to make this a fully functioning game, will be sure to remember to ask for your help, as I am as far from a composer or sound designer as one can be. Thank you again :)

I'm totally on board with that mindset.
It took me 10 years to make a career in music; so much I had to learn.
Lately I've found that sometimes there's more value in having teammates instead of "clients."

A fun and addictive game. Love the choice of music and art and the concept is quite unique and nice. You decided to choose the randomness side of the theme rather than the actual dice itself which I thought was really creative. It's a shame that you didn't have enough time to add extra stuff because I would of loved if each item has a unique effect which makes your choice have more value but I completely understand that you only had two days to make it. You done such an amazing job with the little amount of time you were given. Good luck on the jam!

Developer(+1)

Thank you for the encouragement and kind words ! Yup, it's always fun in thinking of ideas and letting your imagination run wild. But it's always important to be grounded and remember the 50 hours limit. Have definitely learned a lot from this jam, and will definitely use them on my future projects.

Good luck also and thank you again for the kind words.

Great game! Feels like an actual simple game, not a game jam one. I like the aspect of randomness affecting the gameplay. I got to level 09.

Developer

Thank you for the kind words and glad the you like it!  Also happy to hear that it doesn't feel like a jam game, really did gave my all on those 2 days (which in turn have fried my brain :P), always fun to take on a challenge.

Submitted(+1)

Deceptively addictive and fun gameplay, and it certainly fits the randomness theme well! Very polished, the art, music, and feel is just right! As reported by Jaco, at a later stage, I encountered only claw (tooth), then no more upgrades after that... uncertainly whether I've the max level on everything, or it bugged out? I got till level 68 and died, else I would've been here slot machining it all night! Does it go on indefinitely? haha! Well done on a superbly fun game! :D

Developer(+1)

Hi Wei, thank you for playing and enjoying the game. I can confirm that I definitely doubled the number of "tooth" items in the code. It was just a single index number so it was very easy to miss :P

As of now the items are limited to 33 items, therefore if you survive that far and got them all, there will no longer be any item choices and the only move would be to spin indefinitely trying to see on how long you will survive.

I will try to continue developing this small game, (and if I do) will be sure to add a lot more in terms of end game.
Thank you again for the kind words, they mean a lot to me !

Submitted(+1)

Surprisingly fun for such a simple concept. I think you really managed to distill an interesting core here. Also, music was great.

When I got towards the end, I ended up with a bunch of the claw things that wouldn't upgrade, which made me become weaker over time, which was a bit strange. I'm assuming this is a bug rather than a feature?

Anyway, nice work!

Developer

Thank you for playing ! Yes, it was a very weird bug that did not appear during my (somewhat limited) play testing. Have only encountered it once after the submission deadline and I believe you were the first one to mention it also.

I am also not sure how it happened but I am guessing that I have doubled the addition of the 'claw (tooth)' in the item pool, which in turn caused the game to not detect the correct amount of items in the board.

Although I am happy that this seems to be the only bug report (so far :P), thank you again for the kind words !
