I think you’ve got plenty of feedback from others, so the best I can say is nice work! And top tunes too!

Really fun! I found the game challenging and surprising in the best way possible! Great presentation, you definitely nailed it on the look and feel of the game. Visual and sounds effects were on point.

I don't think the fights were unfair necessarily, but they could be a little more forgiving with the amount of MP/HP recovered. Another opportunity would be the attack meter/hitbox thing .. I think if the most damage was in the middle as opposed to the end, it would be nicer for the player to not miss so easily.

One other critique would be to allow the player to roll the die if they want, so that way they don't have to wait. Another option would be to tie it to the number of paces taken as opposed to a strict time, so that way the player can also be idle.

Great submission overall, and keep it up! Props to the team :)

I really liked the music(a lot). The art was also ok. But the game quitting after a game over is a bit annoying. Having the choice between the doors is also good. The fights were also cool. (Even though I'm not good at hitting enemies xD) But the player hitbox could have been smaller as it's sometimes hard to get through gaps.

I really enjoyed playing through the game! The concept is original and could definitely be expanded into a full release. In future versions of the game, you could add more floors where different dice control your movement and abilities (the d8 for floor 2 and so on). The music is great, and the RPG mechanics are well-implemented. I also liked that the player had control over the randomness - there was always a door to go through, and the fights didn't seem unfair. There are some bugs in the final build, but overall the game is amazing!

The game looks and sounds great. The combat is enjoyable and the dungeon crawling is satisfying.

Very cool game! Especially that soundtrack was killer. It reminded me a lot of the stone tower theme from zelda. Skipping through all the text every time was a bit annoying though, especially since I died a lot. I liked the idea of doors, but remembering the right door and having the number changed last second, was a bit annoying as well. Maybe you could have the number just influence the destination, but enable the player to enter nontheless? Or maybe there is a dice in the dungeon that reshuffles the rooms when you roll it. I don't know. Still an amazing piece of work for only 48 hours.

Oooo an RPG.  This is first JRPG i've played of the jam.  So it was nice to see one show up.  So I mean me being a big JRPG nerd makes this an easy fit.  All that stuff was a lot of fun.  It was very hard though and I did not manage to beat it.   Cool creative game.

The presentation was really good! the thing that bothered me most was how fast you died and how the game closed entirely when you did. other than that though I really enjoyed it! I thought the idea was really creative and cool! overall just a great game!

Developer

Sorry about the game closing - that was my quick solution as we couldn't get the title screen done in time :)

Pretty cool!  I like the riff on the motif for the battle music theme vs the exploration theme.

I am unfortunately too impatient to wait 30 seconds multiple times for die rolls in order to open the appropriate doors, so after collecting 2 of the powerups (which felt very rewarding!) I unfortunately succumbed to the inevitable onslaught of enemies.  With some additional control over the doors or a way to simply speed up the rolls I'd want to play this through to the end!

Thanks a lot! I'll keep this in mind for the post-ratings build. This build does have a bug preventing access to the second floor, so after getting the key on the first you can't go too much further.

Great game! It's a little bit difficult fore me but definitelyfun to play. I think this game turns out really well as a traditional rpg. Art and music are good. I really like the simplicity. Character designs are very cute and interesting. The mechanic of unlocking doors with specific value is interesting and keeps me walking around into battles. I feel that the attack of enemy is little bit too high and I usually die when I face the third enemy. The stink in the level is a interesting design, it makes me be careful when moving in the level, but the collider of some box could be smaller to be less strict. The UI of battle and textbox is very traditional and polished, like it! All in all, this is a great game jam rpg and worth to play.

Glad you liked it :)

The concept is really amazing! As a pixel artist, the presentation is outstanding... Some bugs, but for a jam game, still really enjoyable. Incredible work!

Great art and sound!! Its very impressive you made a full RPG in the jam time limit. My biggest problem is the spikes, it feels like they make things harder then they need to be and just annoyed me more then anything, but that might just be me. Good job!

Submitted(+2)

Fantastic presentation, and I'm impressed you managed to whip up RPG + turn-based-combat systems within the time limit! The variety in levels, abilities and all brought about by the dice rolls adds a lot of unique flavour too - a solid concept.

But I'm beefing with the spikes - the tight spaces in the overworld make navigation a little awkward in some spots already, but the spikes make it weirdly anxiety-inducing!

Developer(+1)

Thanks! We’re working on a post-jam update which will shrink hitboxes, hopefully making some gaps easier to squeeze through.

Really nice game! The dice to choose where you go in the map is nice to add variety each run I do. Music is also great. I had to pause in the first room for awhile to bop to the music. When hitting spikes in the overworld the hurt animation tends to be a bit short to the point where I didnt realize they were hurting me at first. Something that could counter that is add a little bit of knockback and extend the flashing time to however long the players invulnerable for

Developer

Glad you enjoyed! Thanks for the suggestion. I don’t think anyone’s brought that up yet!

Great RPG.
I loved the pixed art and the music, they were simple yet effective and nice.
I really liked this entry.

Very nice game, pretty complete mechanics so far.  I liked the separate battle screen, although it took me a while to really make some damage and defeat a foe.  Music fits the general appeareance well.  Some gaps in the level are a bit tight to get through easily.
