What I liked:

  • throwing the cars is fun
  • arcade games!
  • Having to make the way free for an AI is very original and quite fun

What I didn't like:

  • The lack of music. it really made the game more boring
  • The People on the sidewalk sometimes clip into the buildings -> fix: make the collider of the building a bit bigger
  • Often it's hard to tell if you're hovering a car. highlighting cars when they're hovered would enhance the game.

What I liked:

  • The overly happy music
  • that the robot becomes your enemy in the end if you don't have all the keys. That makes the music fit as you knew something was wrong all the time
  • the character controller allows for good dodging which is helpful with this kind of game

What I didn't like:

  • That your key for actions is Z . As there are multiple keyboard layouts on some of them located on really awkward positions. Using non-letter keys is better.
  • the level design lost quality with every level

You are a fly who helps a smarthome system(smarthomes often include AI) to destroy a humanity by using it's features.

I hope i could make it clearer how the game relates to the theme xD

I really liked the art design of this entry but you often softlock the game which is annoying as you often have to reset... (especially in level 4)

That the duck and the AI meet in the end is wholesome xD

Even though I don't feel like I win because of skill i like putting my own creation into the arena. The music really helps here and that the game feels ultra polished with animations and everything. Best designed title screen in this jam btw

This game goes straight into my collection

What I liked:

  • the lighting
  • the simple to understand mechanics
  • the story with it's ending xD
  • the prototype texture look

What I didn't like:

  • That the game didn't save that I played through the game :(
  • In the beginning you're told how to press a button but it isn't needed until the end again so you forget it. Later there's no indicator that reminds you how to press a button.

What I liked:

  • The tilemap was really good
  • The motivation for you to restore blue's driver was pretty cool
  • The way how the story was told was quick and efficient
  • The controls felt very good
  • The text was always readable

What I didn't like:

  • The rotation of the screen made me dizzy (That's why I couldn't play the game to the end)
  • the jump sound was annoying

What I liked:

  • The art of the cutscenes/menu
  • The 3d art
  • the gameplay loop of having to buy the correct stuff based on what the "AI" tells you but also having to always have generic stuff in stock too
  • the walk cycle of the customers xD
  • That there's a "story mode"

What I didn't like:

  • the camera -> fix: make it mouse based
  • small window -> fix: fullscreen
  • not enough time to buy stuff -> fix: 20 sec more
  • bad online store layout (it isn't clear that there are more than two pages)

What I liked:

  • the controls
  • the jump (That's rare)
  • the splash screen having a blurred version of the title screen in the background
  • the art and especially the background
  • the way how you introduce new mechanics every level

What I didn't like:

  • That the "portal" that transports you into next player looks like a player. I got confused by it in the 2nd level -> fix: Use a different shape for example a sphere as "portal".
  • the lack of sound effects -> fix: Add "walk", "switch to AI" and "open door" sound effects

What I liked:

  • the 3d models and their animations (I really like 3d models in a 2D game)
  • the background
  • that you have to defend something
  • the game play loop
  • how polished the game felt

What I didn't like:

  • the controls (they were the hardest thing) -> fix: offer different controls schemes
  • that you get lost and don't know where "the drone" is -> fix: add some kind of arrow that guides you in the direction if you are too far away
  • repetitive audio -> fix: add different versions of the same sound and then randomly select of them.

What I liked:

  • The Art
  • The Atmosphere created by the sound effects
  • The simple but cool story
  • The enemy designs; The looked like something i don't want to have near me xD
  • the character controller

What I didn't like:

  • The Text being white on light background -> Fix: Add a black panel with opacity and rounded corners behind the text boxes.

  • Missing sound effects -> Fix: Add Walk and hit sound effects
  • The walk animation -> Fix: Add variations for walking up and down
(1 edit)

What i liked:

  • the particle effects
  • the animations
  • the step sound effect
  • the music
  • the bot commenting what happens

What I didn't like:

  • the bot moving sound
  • the difficulty of the AI. The AI often gets into a loop where you cannot catch the ball anymore.

Questions:

  • I think the game doesn't really fit the theme to 100% as you play against the AI and don't have to play after it's rules or something

What I liked:

  • The simplistic pixel art; A bit Atari like
  • Pygame!!
  • The ambience. Good choice of music and sounds effects

What I didn't like:

  • The tutorial. Text walls are really not good and are more confusing than helping
  • the bottom UI was took too much of the limited vertical space

It is impressive that you've done all of this in this short amount of time without an game engine as most of the game feels good (The entity movement with scrolling background, Movement, etc) but maybe you should plan in more time for making a good tutorial as it's key for people understanding your game.

btw to my knowledge a few weird anti virus programs flag pygame as a virus.

I really like how you worked with colours. I also liked how advanced and polished your menu/pause menu system was. I would have colored the gems in a specific colour to make them stand out to. At first I thought they were a background element.

This game stands out in multiple ways. The art, the voiced robot, the 2 endings. I also really liked that you could finish the robot last second even if it's just out of the screen.

I couldn't reach the end but i liked what i saw of the game. While looking a unrealistic the enemy designs were creepy. The backgrounds could have been a bit more detailed. I really like the concept of helping a blind person. I've encountered one bug were i you continue to bark on the game over screen the shots are queued into the next try which results in you not being able to move for a few seconds.

I really liked how the text appears in the ground and the font is fitting. The color scheme was cool. I really liked the particles and the realization of the AI in the end was true. If I had to critique something it would be the button design. It's the default button and it does not fit the game like at all. But that's it. One of the best submissions in this jam. Saved it to my collection xD

I really liked the game's art and sound design. It created this atmosphere. Also in the combination with the voice in the beginning. Maybe adding more lore would enhance this kind of game by a lot. (btw subtitles would be cool) The only part of the game that looks not good is the flashlight of the robot. I also like how you are most of the time passive within the game and you only have to support the human (in this case controlled by an AI xD) to open you the way to new cameras. A last critique is that the control explanation in the beginning disappears automatically.

Visually i really liked your game. The flat colors and simple 3d models gave this game a unique look that stood out for me between the other games. The backgrounds were also cool. I would have toned down the brightness but that's personal preference. Also liked the text layout of the game. The Game Over Screen looked cool with the big score (text could've used drop shadows to be more readable).

The audio reminded my a bit of minecraft. The puzzles while pretty easy were not boring. I also really liked that not every char has to be directly standing on the door the progress as the AI moves a it self. I would maybe add a visual indicator over you current player as it's sometimes hard to identify which one it is. Also I would add variation to the walk sound

I really liked that you had to first clean all of the dirt. The bugs are unfortunate but that's what happens in jams. Maybe I would improve the puzzles as some of them (not all) felt a bit similar and I would interpolate and speed up the movement of the vacuum cleaner to make the game feel less restricted.

(I know that this post looks weird because of the video)

I had this weird thing were the mouse was just incorrect. (video)

Screen: 3440x1440, Browser: Mozilla Firefox 103.0.2 (64-Bit)

I really liked the art and the very fitting itch page around it. Maybe some kind of scoring system would add to the game a bit of a motivation for playing it again. Also i would love to see a search for the adjectives.

i mean laser is light...

I really liked the idea but i didn't understand why i would choose which of the options on the selection screen.

I really liked the gameplay idea with the cards placing them to control the robot was fun. Having to charge the robot at the right time also added a new gameplay element which gave the game much more variety. I really like the 2d art in the game (the title screen; the cards) and I think the game would have looked a lot more unique in 2d with the same art style as the title screen. The music wasn't outstandingly fitting but not annoying or unfitting which is pretty good for a game jam game. I also suggest making the game faster and giving more info on the cards as some cards can be used multiple times other don't and some cards can be placed during gameplay. This is information the player needs easy access to. To make the game feel faster i would decrease distances between the main level objects.

(1 edit)

that was disturbing... I really liked the 1/2-bit art (black, white, red). I also liked all of these minigames contained within the game and all the multiple endings (got 2 different ones). I also like the hand of the player xD

I really liked the art and there was a cute story too. I don't remember very much about the music so it was probably not bad but also not very outstanding. "Programming" the move patterns was pretty fun. Maybe indicate that you can change the pattern after you've set it. That would be helpful.

I got frustrated in level 2 where the open got pushed by the trying to push the through it. As I didn't expect it i was standing there were the door got pushed to and died. If this is intentional: This is very confusing.

I really liked the idea with the bots you have to talk to to gain more information but i had problems phrasing my questions in a way the bot would answer in the way i expected. I often just got something completely random as answer, for example "Goodbye" and "Good luck!". Else I really like the crime report design but i think at least mouse support for navigation the whole game besides typing would have felt a lot more natural. What I liked is that the messages of other people are colored blue.

I really like the game. It's art is very well made. I really like the simple """"3d"""" on the play field. And the music fits this kind of game. Also I'll have to say that this is one of the few game jam games i played so far that did not use the standard button design of the game engine they were using.

I just sometimes had problems with the game not accepting my inputs. For example i couldn't pause or couldn't slap. I had to go out of fullscreen and back into it. Maybe this a rare issue as i couldn't replicate it after reloading the page but i at least wanted to mention it. [Firefox 103.0.2 (64-Bit) on Manjaro Linux] (I just wanted to say: That doesn't impact my rating of the game)

These frozen spinach cubes that you warm in the microwave.

I really really like this game and it's story. Also that you thought of this small polish like a pause menu and button to skip to the end of a dialog line. The art was also great. I loved the art style. I'm sad that I currently don't have the to finish it. My only two problems are that

  1. The items are thrown to far
  2. once you push a sheep it can't stop moving slowly in the direction you pushed it in

This is a specific case but on 21:9 displays if you enter fullscreen mode there are later parts of the menu visible.

https://docs.unity3d.com/ScriptReference/Screen-width.html

i have no idea of unity but i guess you could position it using this Screen.width variable

Else the game was a bit confusing and tbh i have no idea what i did. it just somehow worked but visually it was very cool. An interactive tutorial - which is out-of-scope for a game jam - could be added after the voting period to make the game easier to understand.

(lol forgot saving my vote; now i've voted xD)

I really liked the title :) The gameplay was also pretty fun but sometimes it was hard to say when the snake turns but i guess that's the difficulty. being prepared for every situation. So there are 2 thing i would fix: the snakes don't having a turn graphic and the title screen. The title screen is blurry and spammed with the "Press R to Start" text.

My highscore: 1715 xD

maybe a score counter would be great so you can track how good you were

vērý ĉrêãtïvè rëvîèw

While not as "on Topic" as other games it's still fun. The music really fits the art very well. (I'm fan of this art style) I also like that the AI voices are just google translate. I also liked that there's a story mode and that the color scheme changes after playing for a while. I just have one single a question: Why is the microwave placing green blocks onto the road? xD

I really liked how the topic was interpreted in this submission. The only thing that would improve this game would be to highlight something if you hover it and it is clickable in this context.

I have one major critique: The mouse cursor is hidden so if you then try to click something you don't know where your cursor is which makes the game a lot more frustrating than it needs to be.

I really liked the art. It was simple and it was always clear who's my friend and who will kill me. I also think that the story you tell with this game is cool. Your mechanic with the robot which you have to give tasks to is great and fits the topic very well.

I really like the art with all these 2d lights. Only the bullet particles looked a bit out of place as they were the only non-square thing. The concept was also fun and simple.

I really liked the game visually. Most 3d games just look generic as it is harder to do your own style in 3d. The 3d also benefited the game as you could see a bit of the other sides of the die. Many other games had the problem where you don't know which side the number you're looking for is on. The neon look really fit the game well. The game play of matching your enemies was quite unique as i did not see this within the over 90 games I've played. What I have to say that in my opinion there where so particle effects missing for the enemies disappearing. Also I would recommend not compressing as rar because you need 7zip or WinRar for that. Maybe also try supplying builds for other platforms if you have the time to. A Webbuild would be great but I don't know if Unreal lets you do that.
