Liked a lot this game! It respects the theme of the jam in a fun way and it’s easy to pick up after a bit and knowing what to do. Music is fine and you put audio feedback to the player, which I liked. Visuals are the least favourite part because they feel so minimalistic and I don’t know why there are giant green ghosts as enemies on space. The menu feels nice and I felt a little throwback to the past which again, I liked. Keep it up, you did a really good job with this entry! :)

I like their is game made in python for this jam, unfortunately I couldn't resize it to see the entire screen, so had very little idea of what was happening.

Oh, dang. I should've taken different screen resolutions into consideration. Sorry about that. It's just that the last time I submitted a game to a game jam, the window looked normal sized on my screen, but was really small on other peoples' screens, so I tried to go super big with this one.

What I liked:

  • The simplistic pixel art; A bit Atari like
  • Pygame!!
  • The ambience. Good choice of music and sounds effects

What I didn't like:

  • The tutorial. Text walls are really not good and are more confusing than helping
  • the bottom UI was took too much of the limited vertical space

It is impressive that you've done all of this in this short amount of time without an game engine as most of the game feels good (The entity movement with scrolling background, Movement, etc) but maybe you should plan in more time for making a good tutorial as it's key for people understanding your game.

btw to my knowledge a few weird anti virus programs flag pygame as a virus.

This could be needed an WebGl import project to the web page for easier playthrough.

I actually love how there's a risk/reward on choosing to adjust more on the gun or the navigation.

Lovely game!

little confusing initally but once you get into the swing of things it can be quite fun! good job!

I liked the art but the tutorial is an ugly wall of text.
I was very confused while playing.

Nice game!

Developer

I didn't have time to make a way to convey the information naturally! So I had to opt with the ugly wall of text!

I managed to get to the portal and escape!
This game could use some mouse aiming instead using the arrow keys.
I liked the ambience and those green smiling aliens were creepy and cool.

Developer

Hm, haven't considered using mouse controls. Could be a good idea.

Cool concept, but sounds and visuals could be better. It matters that I had fun. :)

Very cool concept, took me a minute to understand how to play but once I did it was fun.

  • The module switching mechanic is very cool, it's cool and intuitive to switch modules to better suit your current situation.
  • I heard you didn't have much time for balancing so I wont complain about it being easy.

Overall  pretty fun and enjoyable, well done!

✔ Create concept.

✔ Initially I was a bit confused with the text at the beginning, but the gameplay felt quite intuitive once I started playing

X Was a bit too easy, I got to the end first try with more than half my health.

Developer

Thanks for the feedback! Yeah, admittedly it's actually is quite easy. I didn't want to make it too hard and didn't have much time for balancing either. 😅

Really nice !

Nice game! :)

Micromanagement of systems is fun, though gets a bit easy after you figure out the "meta" strategy and speed right into the goal.

Lovely retro graphics and audio!

Good Game! I like the choice of music, and overall the “simulator” aspect of the game. Sounds effect is nice and I do think the idea could go far, although the controls are really complicated and not easy to understand ^^’ The enemies came in wave, witch does give you time to re-adjust your gun, but make the game feels a bit repetitive ^^’ GG!

Try whitelisting the .exe file on your antivirus. I had to deal with this every time I exported it to .exe 😓
