I had a lot of fun playing this game! I really liked the added touch of the leaderboards because it made you want to keep playing to make it to the board. The art and music, as per usual, were amazing and the overall game played very smoothly. Awesome job guys ❤️

Developer

Thanks, Danny! Yeah, I was pleasantly surprised at how easy Silent Wolf is to get up and running. And it hardly need be said at this point that D4yz's pixel art is excellent (but I'll keep saying it anyway). It was really fun to work with Josh, too; his music and sound design do wonders for bringing the whole thing to life. Makes you wonder what they need me for. :P

I really love the way you handled the tunnels and the hideouts, making it so they do provide a safe space but not a space just to zone out. The music and sound effects are definitely stellar. Though I feel like the arrests can be a little bit arbitrary sometimes, is it because I lost a piece of evidence?

Also there's a bug where you can go underground, get caught and it soft locks the game?

Developer(+1)

Yes - you can get caught if you run out of time, or if the police destroy too much evidence. You're not the first one to spot that bug - it'll be fixed in the post-jam update.

Thanks for playing!

Really nice take on pacman, loved the graphic style.

I started without reading the instructions and was a total fail haha

Not sure if I encountered a weird bug, but keep getting jailed in the safe house, even when the heat was not 100%. Or sometimes I would just get "captured" when I'm in the underground, it just restarts the level and I lost a live.

Developer

Hey thanks for playing! I'm not 100% sure that's a bug. I was having that happen too while playtesting and then I realized I was losing all my evidence at those moments. Not sure if that's what was happening to you, but could def be that. Really appreciate the feedback and that you took the time to play our game! ^^

Wow the art direction here is amazing! Love the music and how everything comes together too. When I selected how to play, there was no way to go back so I had to refresh the page and saw the intro like three times haha
Enjoy the red, blue, and black colour scheme

Developer(+1)

Ack... I should've put a prompt on there to tell you. It was the ESC button!

Anyway, thanks for playing!

Submitted(+1)

IMHO you should win! Nice combination of pacman mechanics!

Developer(+1)

Lol well thanks for the endorsement. There seems to be a lot of really good entries this month though!

Pacman was definitely a pretty big influence on the initial planning. Josh and John had sort of hashed out the idea as soon as the theme dropped and I was busy with work. Then I pop into our jam team Discord and they're like, "So this is the game!" lol. Wasn't a style I've really worked on before so I figured why not! Really happy with how it turned out.

Thanks for playing Endritdev! ^^

Developer(+1)

Delighted you think so! But I'm not taking anything for granted; there have been some excellent entries this month - as there always are - and it's usually the game with the best take on the theme that wins. Win or not, I think all three of us are pretty happy with how this one's gone.

Thanks for playing!

So good! It looked great, sounded great, and the gameplay had a number of interesting concepts without feeling overwhelming. I wish I had more time to read the dispatches and newsreels, they seemed entertaining.

Developer (1 edit)

Balance is always tough when it comes to how much you need to focus on simultaneously in a game. Really happy that you didn't feel it was overwhelming.

Really appreciate that you took the time to play our game. Thank you! ^^

Developer

It's certainly a bit tricky to read the news ticker at the bottom in the heat of the moment. Maybe if we'd had another week, we could've put in a GTA-esque radio with occasional headlines. Something to think about! Thanks for playing.

Submitted(+1)

Very polished ! From the menus to the freaking reflection in the sewers, the game just looks amazing . Hats off! Moreover the music and sounds are super cool, very fitting .

Oh and the news headlines at the bottom are a nice touch.

(I also did not get onto the leaderboard cause I kinda suck 😭)

Developer

Hahah, nooooo! You don't suck! It's a pretty tough game in the later levels, and it would help if we didn't put a bunch of our own runs on the leaderboard lol.  I'll talk to John and see if having it extended is doable.

Thank you for playing our game! ^^

Developer

People seem to like the reflections! They're actually pretty simple; a second sprite is placed underneath the first, with a much lower Z-index, and a shader to make it wibbley-wobbley. And yes, the game is a bit brutal. As much as I think we scoped better this time than we usually do, rebalancing the game wasn't quite on the cards.

Thanks for playing!

Developer

Thanks for your kind words on the sounds! And don't worry, I can never manage to get on the leaderboard now that other people are playing the game 😅

Submitted(+1)

a great game, it doesn't feel like it was made in 10 days! it's also pretty challenging

Developer(+1)

I could possibly be considered biased lol, but honestly that's what I love about GWJ. It feels like the perfect amount of time to create something.

Thanks for playing our game! And for participating in Godot Wild Jam! ^^

Developer(+1)

That's 'cause it wasn't. It was made in nine days! :P

We have D4yz's art to thank for the game feeling that way; he put in an enormous amount of effort, as he always does. I feel bad whenever he tells me that he fell asleep at his desk...!

Submitted(+1)

The work speaks for itself, truly magnificent and wonderful! Everythings goes along well! Love it!

Developer(+1)

That is incredibly kind of you to say! Thank you! We're definitely proud of what we managed to put together this Jam.

Submitted(+1)

Wow so much detail in this one and so well put together. Amazing job team! I managed 50,000+ after a few attempts but not quite enough to make the leader board (more entries pls?). :(

The only trouble I really had was seeing exactly where I was after coming out of the underground -- but players would probably get used to it I suppose.

Overall really great! :)

Developer

Thanks! ^^

Regarding the sewer entrances, I 100% get what you mean. And it even crossed my mind to have the entrances stand out more. I think it slipped my mind. When uploads open back up after voting, I'll def modify that sprite a bit to help it pop more. Appreciate the feedback!

Developer

One thing I might do is change the leaderboard so that each person can only have one score on there; if you beat your old highscore, it gets replaced. That would free things up a bit.

My original plan was to give you a sneak peak of what was outside the sewers just before you came up. I gave up on the idea when I discovered that viewports are hard. :P

Thanks for playing!

I was watching the screenshots for this one on Discord, and couldn't wait to play it! I wasn't disappointed. Looks great, sounds great... it's great :-)

Developer

Thanks a ton for playing our game! Was a lot of fun to work on. Super proud of the whole team. ^^

Solid visuals and audio, It was a pleasant surprise when I saw my reflection in the water of the sewers

Developer

You can thank John for that reflection. He's great with shaders. And Josh our sound guy really did an incredible job also. Thanks for playing!

Developer

I think John's pretty pleased that so many people are appreciating the reflections! We're glad you enjoyed it
