Really cool concept! I really like the crafting pace in your game. Gather and craft games are, addicting lol. I died a good few times as I was figuring it out, but I think that's expected in any game worth playing. I think my only real issue was that when you start to modify the terrain, you can't really see the depth or ledges or holes all that well.

If you end up adding other craftables or expanding on it further, be sure to give a heads up in the GWJ Discord! I'll definitely check it out! ^^

combining resource gathering / crafting and shooter, that's a really nice idea, even though the game is pretty raw, i would definently play it again in the future if you update it!

I found an infinite hp glitch: if you have crafted armor, and have enough material to craft it again, you click the craft button and gain free HP, you could click it as much as you want

Developer

Good find, thanks for pointing that out! That screenshot is pretty great, I’ve not seen that many enemies on screen at once :D

Yep, and they don't stop coming, to the point the game is running at 6 FPS  XD

Super cool concept!

I get some errors when trying to run on Ubuntu 20.04:

./mine-or-die.x86_64: /lib/x86_64-linux-gnu/libc.so.6: version `GLIBC_2.33' not found (required by ./mine-or-die.x86_64)

I'm assuming Godot was compiled on a newer Linux than mine or something like that?

I was able to get it to sort of work through Wine, but it didn't capture the mouse cursor, and so I couldn't turn around all the way, and basically just got killed by enemies from behind eventually :-)

Anyway, this is a very ambitious game for a game jam! Destructible terrain in 3D and a crafting system?! Congrats on pulling it off! :-)

Developer

Thanks for giving it a try, sorry it didn’t work on Ubuntu! The destructible terrain was made possible by https://github.com/Zylann/godot_voxel/, which meant I had to compile custom export templates. I’ll have to do some more research on doing that portably. Thanks for the feedback, and being dedicated enough to try it under wine!

Yeah, I think it was just compiled on a Linux with a newer version of glibc than is available on Ubuntu 20.04. I know for a time the official Godot Linux builds were done on a older Ubuntu (maybe 16.04?) to prevent this issue, but now I think they are done on a fairly recent version of Fedora, so there must be some other way around this problem. I do custom Godot builds for some of my games, and I use the same Docker containers as are used for the official builds, and it seems to work out.

Difficult (in a good way), and actually quite scary, underground game! :)

interesting concept and art, congratulations!

This is super cool! I do feel a bit silly about how long it took me to realize you have to hold down RMB to mine anything... ._.

I always ended up getting chased by a huge mob of enemies, and usually they got me, but after a few tries I managed to escape. Seems you have to unlock all other upgrades before you can build the teleporter?

Developer(+1)

Oops, yes, it could have been more clear that you had to hold RMB. It wasn’t intentional that you needed to unlock everything, but there might have been a bug. Thanks for playing all the way through!

Great intense game! Before I could swing my pick, stones were already being fired at me. What a nightmare!

I liked it!

Developer

Thanks for playing! I’d intended it to be intense, but I tried to build in some initial time before enemies spawned. It might have been a bit random though.

I really liked this one ! I'm a sucker for "collect and upgrade" games. The cave system is impressive and the fact that you can dig you own path is a nice touch.

I had an issue at the end tho, even when I had enough resources I couldn't build the teleporter...

Developer

Thanks for playing! Yeah, it sounds like there might have been a bug around teleporter resource costs, sorry about that! I can’t praise Zylann’s voxel tools enough: https://github.com/Zylann/godot_voxel/, that’s what made the expansive and destructible cave system possible.

Nice game :) Really like the idea of the game

Developer

Thanks for playing!

I really enjoyed this one. I'm using my laptop which doesn't handle 3d games very well, so the game started lagging really bad after a bit, but that's not on you.

Developer

It was probably on the more resource intensive side and I didn’t spend any time optimizing … thanks for giving it a try!
