Nice graphic style :)

Developer

Thanks!

That was an amazing amount of graphics work to pack into the jam period! I was a little confused at first how the Q/E buttons were supposed to work. Overall I think it shows a lot of promise.

Developer

Thank you! We plan to update a game to some full length cool RPG :3

Well, I guess this couldn't have been made since Jam start date. But anyway, astonishing to see an X-Com - like thingy made by Indies, in addition in GMS !!!

Developer

All we got at the start of the jam were assets and the main character, so we were working a lot and there were 2 of us.  Don't work so hard as we were working for that jam. Sleeping is important!
X-Com is a top series Thank you for mention this game and our game in one sentence. It's indeed heartwarming!

Pretty game!I liked the visual part the most, the controls are simple! It is passed in one breath ^_^

Developer

Thanks a lot!

PLEASE upload a zip file if possible. Microsoft Edge just flat out refuses to download .exes. It looks BEAUTIFUL, but the zip file would be best since it avoids requiring administrator's access to install.

I understand that you are new to programming. This, even more so, means you SHOULD use the zip file at all costs to minimize possibly harming a person's computer unintentionally. The zip file does not require admin access to play.

However, despite not being able to play it, I would say GREAT JOB making a game! Programming is not an easy thing to just haphazardly pick up, and GAME programming, even more so.

How long have you guys been making art?! Just from the screenshots; it's beautiful! Did you guys make EVERYTHING from scratch during the few weeks?! O_o It's awesome that your art is cohesive for a team effort!

Teams definitely have their own challenges!

Developer

Hello~
Added .zip file for you. It packs my art in it no idea why but okay. Thanks for the tip!
Yes, We made all the art and animation from the scratch. Before the jam, we had only ideas and references to how the city should look but all the work was done in 2 weeks while the jam was running. Thanks for your kind words, hope now you will be able to try the prototype!

Thank you so much for uploading the zip file.!

HOLEY MOLEY I feel like your game is greatness in the making! (At least from my own perspective.) You said you don't really have programmers on your team, but you guys did GREAT!

Yes, it is buggy to the ends of the earth BUT, let me just say you have accomplished quite amazing things and paid attention to many details that create a great game. I have a background in C-programming, and just started GM (and gamemaking in general) in the last month or so. Even I haven't learned to do so many of the things you've implemented.

The Twitter link, the loading screen, the tutorial section, different sounds, and background music (did you make the music too?), several different enemies, several types of attacks, idle animations, dash animations. Once you polish everything, MOST of it will be great per my personal opinion (which you are free to ignore, because it is your game after all :) ). The only thing that makes it really hard for me to want to play this game, even if everything were perfectly polished, would be the control scheme.

Is there a different type of control scheme that you envisioned? I'm actually playing on a laptop and I understand that makes it harder just for me, but I think that having movement and action select on wasdqe is pretty difficult if your game gets more intense skill-swapping requirements. (I only have 4 fingers and a thumb. ;) ) It feels like you are going sort of like a Diablo-esque kind of play style.  Or maybe you plan on adding controller support and swapping skills with the bumper buttons?

Anyway, if this if your first ever game, I think you did a wonderful job!

Developer

I'm very touched and thank you from the bottom of my heart for the kind words. (✿ ♥‿♥)

It's not like we got zero knowledge in programming. I'm an artist who got none, but my game designer has some because he needed to create prototypes. Not a great programming experience but at least something.
No, we didn't create music. We choose royalty-free music and sounds. I can give you links to the cool sites where you can upload a lot of it and use it for jams!
Oh my, we never thought about controls (¤﹏¤). At least not while making a game for the jam. Actually, the game got virtual joystick control support. We didn't implement it yet because the idea never crossed our minds. We should definitely add the feature later! Thanks again!

It's not our first game but our first JAM game. We made a simple point and click and visual novel before but nothing gameplay heavy and never with two weeks deadlines.  I'm really glad we made it in time even with bugs and errors it's still a win.
Thanks for the kind words, your support inspires us to work further and make this prototype into a full-length game with a lot of interesting stuff to do!

This game's art is fantastic!
The controls didn't seem to work too well, unfortunately, so I haven't played it for too long.
Would love to see where this goes, though!

Developer

Thanks for the feedback. We made some fixes to the controls already so the post-jam version should be more enjoyable. (◕‿◕✿)

Developer

Hello~ We updated a game to a newer post-jam version. Collision and training fixed. Overall shooting experience improved. Further improvements incoming!

Great Visuals and atmosphere! Hoping to see more about this game ♥️

Thank you so much! (●´ω`●)

Hot damn, this feels so much like an early supergiant games prototype! The number of art assets must be staggering and sometimes seeing the flickering of the lights in the windows of the houses is just *chefs kiss*

Unfortunately, the gameplay is still really rough, but wow, what an ambitious project!

Developer

Wow, supergiant is a company we admire, these guys are someone who inspires us to work. I'm amazed from the bottom of my heart to see them and us in one sentence. Thank you!

The visuals are really nice!! I can tell you put a lot of work into the scenery, and it looks fantastic!! Well done!!

Developer(+1)

Thanks!

Please, please continue working on this one! I loved it so much and want more!

Developer

Thanks for the kind words. After such a comment team feels inspired and ready to work on a game!

Submitted(+1)

I think the game deserves celebrating just for the ambition alone. I would love to see the game be fleshed out after the jam ^ _ ^

Developer(+1)

Thank you! Yep, that was a plan to update the prototype to alpha and further. (。♥‿♥。)

Thanks! I absolutely agree, this prototype being too huge and we weren't able to complete a lot of features leaving it unpolished. But I'd love to transfer this game to alpha and update it constantly.

Firstly: most people (including me) don't like it when a jam game has to be installed. Just share it as a zip.

The artwork was stunning, but unfortunately there's a lot more to good visuals than just artwork. For starters, there's graphic design and game juice, which your game lacked a lot of: particle effects, screenshake, additional VFX like smoke or clouds, shaders, and then nice-looking and sleek menus, transitions, proper win screens, etc.

As for fun, I have to say that the gameplay was lackluster; running around and just shooting normally seemed to do the trick just fine.  There's a great video on how to double the fun of a game in no time.

I just saw that this was your first game. Try not to be discouraged, but learn from your mistakes. I almost always only point out the flaws not because the game is necessarily bad, just because you don't really learn much from your successes.

That was pretty fun! A bit shaky here and there, but great job for your first jam game! I would say for the next one maybe try to keep the scope a bit smaller and really polish it up (we only ended up doing one level and a boss for example, which of course isn't very much).  3d or even iso can be really hard in gms2!

Developer(+1)

Yep, it seems jams require a unique approach, thank you for the feedback! I hope you had fun blowing all the monsters.

Developer

Sorry! yep there are bugs because one of us is an artist and the second dev is an amateur GMS user. We will fix this after the jam

Submitted(+1)

The art is great, the enemy animations are fluid and nice.

But i am really not a fan of the gameplay :( I beat the game, and barely had any challenge, it kinda lacks impact, solid movement and better enemy variety.

Definetely has promise as far as art goes!

Developer

Thanks for the opinion! Yes we will add more enemy and polish gameplay in a future development!

Looks like a claim for a good game. Beautiful, driving, recklessly. I'm waiting full version.

Developer

Thanks! :3

Yay I won! This was really fun, 5 stars! Btw that brown critter with the tongue really gives me the creeps, haha. Also, this game has the best visuals I've seen so far :) Great job!

Developer(+1)

Thanks, dude! Glad you won! I played your Neon beacon and it was fun, hope you get some more love from the community.

Thank you :)
