How does your game fit the theme?
To charge up your hero, and to paint more parts of the world, you have to craft paint bombs from the plants and animals of that world. The colors they give, will change their world - everything is linked, everything is JOINED TOGETHER.

The art is stunning, the music is so elegant and chill, and the joined together concept is really unique! I really enjoyed how the landscaped changed as you scoot along. Nice job!

Developer

Thank you so much :-)

Such a gorgeous game and am in love with the concept! Simple gameplay for now but can defo see the potential this game could have! Amazing work!

Very beautiful game, especially children will love it. Quite a finished product.

Submitted(+1)

This game looks really beautiful! And the way you realized the painting in (how did you do that in unity?

Though I also could not figure out the crafting (the middle button had no text for me).

Submitted(+1)

Not my kind of game but its presented amazingly and most certainly deserves a high rating on that alone!

Submitted(+1)

A very nice looking game, well done. I couldn't really work out the crafting but I had a nice time just spamming the space bar and watching the colour spread out.

Submitted(+1)

Reminds me of Splatoon!  You really need a cooldown timer and the bombs though!

Developer (1 edit) (+1)

Didn't know Splatoon. Had a look now - you are absolutely right. They were pushing the "paint the world" idea even further - into a team-based multiplayer online battle game. Wow!

Submitted(+1)

Your game is    far more chill!

Submitted(+1)

It looks beautiful, but I don't understand the crafting. I could just spam the bombs, and things got colored...

Minor suggestion: have a mouseclick also throw bombs. The mouse is already being used, and I think it would feel more natural.

Amazing art, relaxing gameplay! The idea itself is very original, and it would be lovely to see it expanded upon. As of right now though, it is like a coloring book in video game form, and makes for a soothing past time :)

This is a really good-looking game with a neat concept. I look forward to seeing it developed more after the jam, because the core idea is really strong. With the current build, I don't think I had to use crafting at all, and never ran out of ammo. But it was very soothing just colouring in the world.

Developer

Thanks for your feedback, yes the crafting didn't work so had to put infinite ammo. I am glad you liked it and will definitely try to identify the soothing parts of the game and take it from there.

Visually it's very nice! I feel it probably should have used left mouse click instead of space as I was reaching my hands a bit. You've made a good start with something here!

Developer(+1)

thanks, would definitely look into the controls.

Submitted(+1)

I really enjoyed the colors of the game! They looked wonderful and made the final, painted work a very pleasant sight to see

Submitted(+1)

Beautiful little game. Could not really figure out the crafting, but I didn't really need to. Walking around and coloring everything was fun!

Submitted(+1)

Looks amazing! And it was very satisfying to walk around and color everything in.

I read some of the comments and I really feel you when it comes to having too many ideas and not quite making it with implementing all of it, the same happened for me and the crafting mechanic is not completely implemented in our game either. But I like that you still put the crafting menu in there, it makes me interested in coming back later to hopefully see it all working as you intended. Keep up the great work!

Developer(+1)

Thank you, glad you liked it. Yeah - ideas vs. time - the neverending challenge. I think, now that the Jam is over, we all have a slightly better understanding of what we can achieve in 48 hours. It is a general rule: You need a ton of experience to get to the tippy top - and for that, you have to start somewhere. With that in mind, I am really proud of what we achieved.

Submitted(+1)

It sure was a good learning opportunity for me too. Yes, I do think you should be very proud of this game! :)

Developer(+1)

Hi, rymdlingen. I saw your game played by mark yesterday on his stream and I was thinking "Dude this is what happened to us as well". Your game looked cool, hope you continue with the idea.

Hi bom! It was a lot of fun that he played our game. His reaction to the art and our take on the theme, with the description of the potions, was heartwarming. And we laughed a lot when he talked about the programmer not putting the effort in, I sure did put the effort in! haha
I'm just lacking experience and haven't been learning programming for very long. Overall all of this has been a great experience and I have learnt a lot and I will definitely try to finish the rest, I just need to find the time :)

Are you going to continue to work on your game?

Developer (1 edit) (+1)

I would very much like to finish the game, given that I manage to find the time myself.

Submitted(+1)

The hand-drawn watercolor style is fantastic

Developer (1 edit)

Thank you :-) Really appreciate.

so beautiful game - wonderful visuals and lovely music! the mechanics of colouring is done very nicely - great job! (though somehow for me he was shooting only to left hemisphere? maybe he should shoot in the direction of movement?)

Developer(+1)

Thank you Ana. Your kind comment means a lot to me. The color bombs fly in the direction of your mouse cursor. Anyway, I am so happy you like our game!

Submitted

oh, that's stupid that i didn't realize that, sorry:)

Developer(+1)

No problem. Enjoy and take care!

Submitted(+1)

This is a very pretty game. It was relaxing to go around and just color everything up. Beautiful!

Submitted(+1)

Well that was an absolutely crazy coloring mechanic, way cooler than what I managed to do and it really goes with with the hand drawn art style and it's pretty cool.  The concept sounds really cool as well though I was sorta confused about it in the game since the crafting didn't seem to come into play?

From what I could tell though it looked like you were going to combine the plants and "fruits"(?) that got picked up when you shot paint near them to craft more but I couldn't quite figure out how and from what I can tell there's a near infinite amount by default?

That looks to be caused by some issues you had tho based on the comments.  Would be great to see the game with all the issues ironed out tho post jam!!  That painting mechanic is still just too cool.

Developer

thank you, really appreciate the feedback. Yeah the mechanic took a lot of tinkering with the sprite mask tool, will try to optimize it to delete its animator components once the animation is finished.

nice game and beautiful art.

Submitted(+1)

Nice art and music. Definitely needs some exploration in the system design and this game could be something really fun and cool as some form of story driven game!
