Very mind-bending controls but once I understood, I had a great time. The game is both challenging and calm/relaxing. One picky thing is the multiple layers of tiles and colors made it had to see what the environment was made up of. All around great job!

This. This is AWESOME. That feeling when you fly by a building and accidentally one of your tentacles lightly touches the building and destroys it. I was like "whoops, let's pretend it was like that from the start" XD
Also I like how you can hold all four buttons 1234 and move all the tentacles together.

The only suggestion I got is - maybe change size of most of the tiles from 16x16 to 14x14, that would make the tiles fit together much better.

That was really neat.

The octopus was fairly easy to control and felt responsive. Some kind of indicator on the arms would have been nice but other than that, it was fun.

If you are looking for an other weird physics game, check out mine. Its about controlling a worm monster.

This is an awesome idea! To be honest, destroying things with the tentacles looks pretty fun and it was hard to resist! Great job

Developer

Lolol thanks! I'm glad you also enjoyed destroying everything! xD

I really like the idea of a qwop or octodad style game for this jam. I also really like the use of the art assets. Playing it I found myself wanting the destruction threshold to be higher, because it was more fun knocking things over than trying to squeeze through gaps, but overall well done!

I'm glad you enjoyed it! I also feel the same about destroying things in the game. xD I kept to my original delivery game though for the sake of the jam deadline. Maybe I can experiment with it more in the future? Who knows.

Hey! An update:

For those who don't know, my first upload of the game had a broken WebGL player.

I've now uploaded a WebGL version that is no longer broken though! :D For those who have already voted, you are free to change your vote or keep it as is. I'm simply glad that it's playable now, so I don't mind if you want to take off any stars because my first submission was broken. I've included Windows executable as well. I prefer you play the web version because that version is closest to my submission before the deadline.

Thanks, all! :)

I wasn't sure if I would be able to play it in WebGL, but managed to play through it a bit. I really like the idea and think it has potential, but it could be a bit more smooth and perhaps give the movement a bit more speed, cause it felt a bit slow at times.

Developer

Oooh, I'll keep that in mind. I kept the speed low so that players could move the Octo in tiny increments for more control, but I didn't know it was too slow. Thanks!

HOW I PLAYED IT: Download the project from github and played it in the Unity editor, navigate between the levels by loading each scene separately.

I really loved this game. Really creative use of the assets. The octopus is really fun to control; it was exciting being such an unwieldy space monster trying to do a delivery job.

The navigation between scenes is out of order, but otherwise the polish is good.

Great game!

I'm not sure on how the grading should apply in this case; but I'm only going to knock a single star off on polish for the fact that I had to run it in editor.

Developer

Lolol, honestly as long as you were able to play it, I don't mind loosing some stars. xD  Glad you enjoyed it.

Thanks for posting a temporary fix by the way! I hope it helps others trying to play.

Shame about the bugged start button. From the way the octopus plays and the game in the screenshots it looks fun and used the sprites well.

Very interesting idea, would have loved to play more :-)
