Yes, it was intentional. :D I'm glad you saw that. You can still try to make other choices though, but it may not be obvious because 1. we play in the shoes of Zel or 2. I'm not the best game writer haha xD

Regardless, thanks for playing and sharing what you thought! :)

Nice to see you again!

Yeah, I really like this asset pack. I haven't found many free pixelart packs that have this many tiles and are as versatile.

Winter was fun to make! I had more cameos with her where she'd put more pressure on the player, but couldn't make them in time. It looks like the minimum amount of cameos still conveyed the intention though. :) It's nice to hear you interpreted her as intentioned.

Same goes for the ending. It really straddles the line between clear and unclear, and I'm still trying to figure out how to translate unclear emotions like mental health to clear game instructions. The player can end up missing a lot depending on how they interpret the ending!

I totally forgot Unity had post-processing effects xD. That's such an awesome idea - thanks for the advice.

Overall, thanks for the comment and thanks for playing <3!

Thanks for playing and commenting!

I had a whole other section of the game planned, but couldn't implement it due to the jam deadline - so cuts had to be made xD. I have very little idea how to cut narrative based games though!

I'm on the fence though whether I want to continue this story through this game, or make a sequel with more expansion and a new event to focus on. I'll think about it >>

Nice catch on the bugs btw. The character not moving towards the end and the finicky movement is definitely spaghetti code working at its best xD. However, the black cloud in front of Lee is intentional. :)  It's okay if you though it was a bug - I just need to find ways to make the goals clearer!

Charming little game. All the pets are so cute, and I loved the pictures of them at the end! Cho looks so tiny <3

I also get some solid black screens, but it looks like mine happen in the cutscenes of level 3 and onward. If I hit space a couple of times, the black screen eventually fades away, but takes me to the very end of the cutscene. I assume that means that the black screen goes away at the end of the cutscene for me?

That's okay though! I was able to go back to watch them all through the level select. :)

Nice job, I had fun!

Nice game! I'm a big fan of the glow and particle effects everywhere. It makes the game look really mysterious. The flying tree ship was cool too - a neat use of the assets!

At some points, I got really mobbed by the fire and found it difficult to recover. I kept putting trees down to help, but I soon ran out of room because of all the burnt trees. :( Eventually I just ran away lol. I think having the burnt trees disappear or spawning less fire would have helped me out there.

Nice work overall. I enjoyed it! :D

Really fun game here! I'm a big fan of bullet hells, so this is really awesome xD

The polish is really well done too. All the particles and trails that flew around were messy, but I felt like it actually helped the bullet hell experience and gave it a nice touch.

Adding a timer with how long we survived would be a nice addition!

Overall, good work! I had a blast. :)

Awesome game! The difficulty curve is handled very well. I never felt the level was too hard for me to finish. Learning what each new obstacle/enemy did was really fun too. :D

With the amount of levels, a level selection would be a great addition!

Well done overall!

Lolol thanks! I'm glad you also enjoyed destroying everything! xD

I'm glad you enjoyed it! I also feel the same about destroying things in the game. xD I kept to my original delivery game though for the sake of the jam deadline. Maybe I can experiment with it more in the future? Who knows.

Oooh, I'll keep that in mind. I kept the speed low so that players could move the Octo in tiny increments for more control, but I didn't know it was too slow. Thanks!

Hey! The concept for this game is really cool. I'm a big fan of games that explore mental health issues, so I love what you're going for.

It's definitely anxiety inducing. xD What really sells it is the music, which is an awesome touch.

I found the platforming to be a bit difficult. The player moves pretty quickly and jumps pretty low, so making them move slower and jump higher may help.

Overall, nice work. Congrats on your first Godot game! I would love to see more. :)

I really enjoyed playing this game! It's hectic, but in the fun cooking game kind of way. It would become an awesome mobile game too. If you want to bump the difficulty down, then adding more places for the food to spawn would help.

Also, the music is a BOP. Nice polish there!

Awesome job, overall. Congrats on your first game jam submission :)

This is a neat little game! It was a bit difficult figuring out what I had to do. I wasn't sure if there were specific people that had to go to the hotel or if there were specific people I had to get rid of. :(

The idea of having the camera on another person is a really unique idea though! There's potential here, and I'd love to see more.

Good job, overall!

It's pretty fun! Took a little getting used to what's going on and how to play the game, but learning it all was rewarding, especially since I died pretty easily and frequently in the beginning. xD

Increasing the size of the magic projectiles or its particle trail would be a nice addition - just so that they're easier to see.

Overall, awesome job! Your engine works really well! :)

Hey! An update:

For those who don't know, my first upload of the game had a broken WebGL player.

I've now uploaded a WebGL version that is no longer broken though! :D For those who have already voted, you are free to change your vote or keep it as is. I'm simply glad that it's playable now, so I don't mind if you want to take off any stars because my first submission was broken. I've included Windows executable as well. I prefer you play the web version because that version is closest to my submission before the deadline.

Thanks, all! :)

Lolol, honestly as long as you were able to play it, I don't mind loosing some stars. xD  Glad you enjoyed it.

Thanks for posting a temporary fix by the way! I hope it helps others trying to play.

Hey! Please read the game description <3

This is an awesome take on the theme! Really lovin' the retro vibe too. The neon colors look great. :D

I was a bit confused with how to play at first, but I didn't read the description lol! The level design helped me learn the rules and mechanics though. Because the first ones are fairly short, I could easily just restart and apply what I learned. This is a really awesome approach!

Great job overall. Congrats on your first game jam! :)

Awesome take on the theme! The small, red skeletons gave me a real spook when I first saw them rushing towards me xD

Audio would be an awesome addition when the rating period is over.  If the red skeletons already got my blood pumping, then audio would make it even more exciting.

Also, I noticed some of your green skeletons get stuck on the walls when they ran into them. Some of them were able to get themselves out but others remained stuck!

Overall, congrats on your first full game! I had a lot of fun :)

Really cool game! The implementation of the mechanics feel really smooth. I also loved the art! The tiles look really well done and they look awesome all together.

One thing to make it even better is just a slightly bigger resolution. That will really be able to help players see when the moving tiles reach the player :)

This is a cool concept! I got really surprised when I saw all the spikes appear - I didn't expect that to happen!

I also couldn't find my way back xD The platforming controls are really smooth though. If you space the platforms a bit more, then it'll make it even more satisfying and smooth! Great job overall!

The levels got real tough real fast! I got stuck on some of those fire enemies but with a couple of tries I got through.

Besides that, I thought the idea of making different sized platforms with the mechanics to be really... cool 😎❄️

Awesome job!

I have to agree with some people that this is a really well polished game. I'm impressed with how many levels you created. Even the tutorial levels were comprehensive and fun!

Awesome job! :D

Really tricky at first, but I got the hang of it after dying a lot xD The concept is really clever, too!

Good job, and congrats on completing your first game!

Love this! The idea is super clever and I like the art the most. It's cute and artistic <3

No problem! I'm keeping track of the bugs/errors in the game's description so I can offer temporary fixes until voting ends. If there's anything in particular you find that's not on the list, let me know. Thanks for checking me out though!! :D

A short but sweet game! I would love to see where this game goes from here. There's a lot of potential here, and I thought it was cool to see how different objects get affected by the rewind/advance mechanic. Great job :)

Hilarious game! I loved the little voices and how crazy it can get.

When I was still getting my 8-boat across the finish line, my 9-boat got whisked away by a tornado and made it across the finish line right before my 8-boat. A sad but such a funny moment. :'D

Great job everyone! <3

A beautiful bittersweet story. :) Platforming and mechanics were a bit tricky, but I overall enjoyed it.

Awesome game! Each level was really clever. I thought it was really fun seeing all the trains barely miss each other when I found the final solution. xD

Really love this! Everything is so cute and it just makes me feel good to play! The little dance the caterpillar is lovely :D

Oooh, thanks for letting me know that the screen was too big! I wanna fix all the bugs/errors once voting is over. Let me know if you find anything else :D

This is such a clever idea!! I never got passed the third level 😂 Awesome job, Julia!

Very cute and charming game!! I love your art style!

Keep up the good work!

Love, love, love this art and message. I didn't think I'd learn so much!! I'm going through a rough time in life right now, but I wanted to let you know that this made me feel better!

Keep up the good work! :)

Hi all! I'm April, another fellow indie game developer, who's actually just starting out! I didn't even know this thread was here!

I'm currently an undergrad studying Computer Science at my university. My hobbies include creating art and dancing. Of course, I can't understate my fascination for video games. I think the medium itself is very unique since, unlike videos and articles, video games are totally interactive. And that's just!!! So cool!!! There's a lot of ways indie devs can play around with the relationship between the player and the game.

Enough about my philosophy though! I hope we can be friends! Check out my first game over here.

Hi, thanks so much for playing my game! I took your advice actually and added some sounds to my game!

Also, I took a peek at your channel and I love all the games you play! I hope you also keep up the good work! Thanks again for supporting me.

Woah, I absolutely missed that! Thanks for telling me!
