Nice game, I especially like how you slowly discover the real use of the rift gun, one of the most organic and best tutorials in this game jam.

The movement is a little wonky, I recommend messing with the Physics2D settings and set the collision detection from "discrete" to "continuous", and also make sure all physics code is in the FixedUpdate() method. Because it seems the player is moving too fast for the platforms to catch properly.

Also, there is great pixel graphics, sfx and music, it was well crafted. Idea is also quite interesting and  is somewhat related to the theme.

Good work on the game!

Definitely a neat concept, I like the added black and white effects as well. I found it very hard to navigate the levels, I didn't really know where to go. It felt a little weird to me that your character faced your mouse and not the direction you're walking in, and some of the layers on the animations behaved strangely (during the walk animation, you appeared over some background elements, but in your idle animation, you were behind those same elements). Nonetheless, I still enjoyed. Nice work!

Great little game! Loved the graphics, and the rift mechanic was super cool! I found the level a bit confusing at first but got the hang of it. Really love the look and feel with the grey of the rift and the sound slowing when you enter it, super immersive. Also the way you layered the assets, the tutorial at the beginning, the music - everything just makes it feel really polished. Well done :)

Good job!

had a lot of fun playing this, loved the attention to detail like music slowing down in the time field. Did get lost and ended up falling through the map though. other than that, very good entry!

Yo’ Templar here,

  • When it comes to game design, the mechanic of finding hidden areas in the map using the flip gun is fun, but needs more polish.
  • There’s nothing much for fun aside from the previous mentioned mechanic.
  • Graphics are good, the animations are fluid, but feels the map feels a bit overcrowded with stuff, mostly because of the background.

A few thing to point out are:

  • The collisions of the platform are weird.
  • The lack of an indicator for the rift gun charges is annoying, or too obscure and couldn’t find it.
  • There’s no clear sense of direction, if you discover a hidden path, follow it, and ends in just a deadend, go back, rinse and repeat.

Thank you for the super amazing feedback, I absolutely agree with you. Ill be changing a lot of things with the sense of direction of the map and definetly add an indicator for how many rifts you have left. As well as more polish to the feeling and balance of levels. Thank you again for the in depth feedback, I still have much to learn :) .

Wow, really nice. I found some glitches, but overall it is a really good game

The idea of breaking parts of the level to a previously state is very original!

Wow this is really polished. Love these animations, they look so fluid!

I wish the jump was a bit higher, but aside from that it a really good game!! Nice sounds too

I was just about to comment that this clearly isn't your first rodeo, until I saw in the description that this was indeed your first game jam. All the way more impressive. Looks, sounds and feels like a "proper", released game in every aspect.

Thank You for the kind words! This was my first jam and only my second released game.  I've always wanted to do a jam and damn it stressful but fun. Although there are a good many bugs I'm more shocked I managed to even make this within the time XD.

  • Changing audio made me go YES.
  • Graphics are really cute.
  • Jumping feels heavy. If you wanted to be heavy bo problemos.
  • 5 star from theme, graphics, audio and inovation.

At the overall really nice game.

Good mechanics, I would have liked the up arrow or W to jump, good game.

Very nice graphics and great idea!

The art is really impressive!
Like others have mentioned the jump felt really low, but still a nice game!

Nice. Jump should be higher and the rift gun should have been right click.

Ey the game is fantastic. The art is really good, and music suits so well. Only thing I would suggest is to control the display layer of the renderer so the character doesn't flash when passing sprites. All looked very good overall.

This is well done and cool a rewind mechanic. Sound fx are good too. Wasn't 100% liking the short jump and having to get close to punch enemies. That would be my only feedback. Nice job.

Really nice idea for making an area rewind to the past. The only thing I would say is that maybe lessen the platform when going vertically, down or up, it got tedious for me. But still, this game is very well polished, the animations, pixel art and audio are amazingly done
