Ranked from 59 ratings. Score is adjusted from raw score by the median number of ratings per game in the jam.

In what way does your game fit the theme?
The core mechanic of the game is the ability for the player to create at any given moment a rewind point that stores location and momentum, and being able to rewind to that in certain situations.
Moreover, the way you solve the puzzles is, in a way, thinking in reverse, since you have to picture in your head the way you are going to go about the problem and rewind that possible solution, from end to start

Did you write most of the code yourself and made all the assets from scratch?
Yes, all the assets we used, from code, to sprites, to music, are made by the credited people of the team, except for fonts and sound effect, which are also credited in the description

Very great artwork, i don't know, how it is even possible to make great pixel-Art and you guys make a perfect Background. Adding to that, all the Levels are looking great and the Music is just perfect for this Game.  Great puzzle and a big variety of levels for a jam Game. But for me, the Jump felt a bit strange. It felt a little bit to fast and to short. But in conclusion a very great and interresting Jam Game. Keep making great games like that!

Developer

Thanks a lot for your feedback, plus, as the music composer of the game, I'm so happy to see those words. It means a lot for me, thank you. We'll keep working hard, good luck for the Jam!

This game is gorgeous and the puzzles are so intricate and well done for a game jam game! I'd love to see more levels for this!

Submitted(+1)

Wow! One of the most polished games I've seen in this jam! The graphics: incredible, the audio: incredible, the game design: incredible. What more could you ask for!? Congratulations to you!

Very intresting twist on the theme, it ramps up in difficulty quickly but that does not have to be a bad thing.

Submitted(+1)

Interesting concept, I really enjoyed placing lots of rewind points around the map and it felt really rewarding getting the moon to the end. One thing to note is, that it gets really difficult really fast, and at that rate it can get kinda frustrating. But overall, it fits the theme, has good music and interesting art, so: good job, keep it up!

Developer (1 edit) (+1)

The difficulty is meant to be a bit hard, but it's true that the curve can be too steep and frustrating. I think adding some more level to ease this passage letting the player familiarize better with the controls could go a long way

Submitted(+1)

Very clever concept and game design. It's clear that this idea was well thought out and it looks great as well

Submitted(+1)

Very cool game. I like the art and the music. However, I would change the trajectoy of the moon, it is a little unpredictable, and maybe have an option to not destroy a rewind position every time you fail to catch the moon.
Other than that, great game. Had very much fun with the puzzles.

Developer

The trajectory is surely one of the weakest part of the game, and it's one of the main things the updated version improves.
As for the second suggestion, it may be an option for an easier difficulty, but the way it behaves now is definitely intended: it adds to the difficulty, makes you very conscious of your moves and gives you another way to clean up some rewind points that may be hard to reach

Nice game, I like the atmosphere (background and music), It was difficult at start to undestand the dynamic of the game .

Good Job.

My game is a casual game if you wanna rate is https://misterm.itch.io/mixtape-match , Thanks

The must and background gave the game a great atmosphere! The concept and puzzles are fun, but some of the solutions felt pretty tight on timing and execution (but I could have been going about thing the wrong way). I would have appreciated it if the moon traveled faster and if the player had less gravity. A lot of my playtime was spend waiting to see if I lined up a (moon) shot right. Likewise, the gravity made some jumps harder than they needed to be. Nonetheless, puzzles were great!

Developer

The game is meat to be a bit on the harder side difficulty wise, but I think most of it it's artificial and frustrating, and it comes from the trajectory, that I'd say it's the weakest point of the game, and that is something  we already changed in an update version (see the replies below to know the reasons).
Then the fact that the moon travels slowly is just so that you can more easily catch it midair:  I did tried not to slow it at all, but it was way too hard to catch. With a working trajectory, you would  know from the start if the moon would reach it's target or not.
If you are willing to try just for the first levels of the updated version , i would love to hear your feedback, but of course you must not change your rating, since the improvements were made after the submission period and thanks to feedback like yours

Submitted(+1)

I don't know if this is the right place to post this, it being regarding the updated version and all, but the changes to the trajectory and jumping weight made things feel a lot better. I'm not sure if you adjusted gap sizes, but things felt a lot more doable. My only complaint that still remains is the difficulty curve seems a bit off. Most of the levels are doable, but "wind flows only when time does" (hard to set up with the wind's super-fast acceleration) and "not every wall is meant to stop you" (lost of daisy-chaining rewinds). In the case of the wind level, it is extra weird because "to rise, you have to fall first", which is right after it, it much easier.

Developer

Ahaha, I don't know what to say: the two wind-based levels you mentioned are inverted in the game jam version, but after showing the game to some friends, they all told me that the first was more difficult, so I decided to invert them in the updated version. Difficulty in a puzzle game can be subjective, so I think I'll leave them as they are in the last version.
As for the difficulty curve in general, I admit it can be pretty rough, but it is sorta of intended. Maybe I could add some more levels to ease up the transition a bit, but I generally satisfied about the tough gameplay.

Anyhow, I'm really grateful for the time you took just to give me your feedback again. Thank you, I really mean it

Interesting puzzle game. Had some trouble with figuring some of it out. I like the particle effects on the background and the blackhole object.  Didn't realize I could hold down the mouse button longer to get a trail until later. Music is good. Nice job.

Developer

Thank you very much

You've created a very nice puzzle game! You've even done a final boss! The maps were well designed, though it was at first hard to getting used to the walls you could go through. It may be a stylistic choice since it looks nice when the moon lights it, but perhaps there could be some sort of curvature to indicate where to go.

Very well done overall!

Developer

I really appreciate your feedback, but I think i didn't get something: the "fake walls" are present in only 2 levels. Do you refer to them (the first in particular) when you say  "perhaps there could be some sort of curvature to indicate where to go" ,  so to make it easier to distinguish fake from real walls?

Submitted(+1)

Sorry if my wording was confusing. Yeah, the walls on levels 5 and 10. If you'll continue this project and use the feature in later levels as well, a slight dent in them to make it easier to distinguish where you could go through. For example, something like this (excuse my quick photoshop):

Developer(+1)

It is surely an option, but i like the way you can't really distinguish them until you throw the moon or, even easier, check the trajectory or the light. Anyhow, thank for the time you dedicated to this post

One of the best puzzles games in this gamejam. If you expand on the boss you could make a completely new game. Great job!

Developer

Thanks a lot, I'm glad you liked it

Submitted(+1)

Very very nice game, had a lot of fun playing it! The idea of rewinding back your position is really nice and is very satisfying to catch the moon while it is flying. The graphic patterns formed while you aim are pretty beautiful as well. It is a very polished work.

Really liked the game, hope you keep working on it, nice job!

Developer(+1)

Thank you so much, we'll try your game later as well

Submitted(+2)

That one looks like a completed game instead of a jam entry. I loved the throwing route sketches created while aiming.

Rewind theme is perfectly used. A great combination of casual and puzzle game genres.

I dig in the music, I tried to make one by pressing random buttons, but here we have a real puzzle game music :)

Cool game, it definitely worth to give it a try.

Good use of paralax and loved the rotating skyline! Great job. Was fun too.

Could you please play and rate my game too?

Void46, did you have a chance to come back and play it? I was hoping to hear your opinion on my game and hopefully get a rating too.

Thank you for the precise and constructive feedback. I agree on all of these, and some, like the aim helper lines, which honestly i find awful,  have already been fixed in the updated version of the game, but it will have to wait until the jam ends

Submitted(+1)

Really cool atmosphere and sprite art! the throwing mechanic is pretty unique too! awesome job! keep it up! Please check out my game if you haven't :D

Developer

Thank you for your feedback, I'll try your game as soon as I can

Submitted(+1)

I got stuck on the level where you could jump through walls; that wasn't really for me. I thought that the line indicator showed the gaps; so when I had it trace through to the middle, I thought I could shoot there, but it would still fail. Other than that, I liked the levels before that.

Developer (1 edit) (+1)

I guess that level is particularly tough because the trajectory shown isn't well made. You can skip the levels with k, if you want to see the others. And i'll release an updated version as soon as the jam ends

Submitted(+1)

I love the atmosphere and music, plus the puzzles are cool, but it is hard to aim the ball. Nice game though!

Developer

Thank you. And yep, the "trajectory part" is one of the weakest of this game. It will be improved in the future

Submitted(+1)

Well done on the visuals and music! That’s what made the game for me :D Also clever game design led to clever puzzles xD Good job. Hope you try mine too Since we both made puzzle games :D https://itch.io/jam/brackeys-4/rate/722968
