Sleight of paw got me :D It's always good to see another game with a similar gameplay and interpretation of the theme, see what's similar and what's different. I'll be honest, yours feels overall more polished, you had time to implement upgrades as well. Are you generating the mice randomly or do you have set pictures?

Loved the whole hand-drawn UI, especially the map. Reminded me of Mewgenics in the best sense.

There are some smaller typos in the text, nothing major, just a recommendation to double-check them.

I'm not sure I understood how the chance to fail the missions works. I'm talking about when the police arrives, not the individual mice getting caught. Is the bar in the top left a chance of failure that is checked on each interaction?

Also, poor Devlin, he was by far my best guy, but he spent more time in jail than on missions.

Congratulations to the game, it's really impressive that you could do this all by yourself!

Great game, I did only ever use two mice until they could do every mission without attracting attention

Great game! The sounds were really satisfying and slowly leveling them up was nice. Glad they came back after their prison time specially if you grow attached to them. Also really cute art style :)

Good job!

I'm da king of Cheesecago!

Nice job, for me the best part was the writing and how the whole premise was very coherent - you really nailed that. Solid design decisions throughout, e.g. sending mice to jail instead of permanently removing them, made it feel not too punishing.

To nitpick on a couple of things:

Being able to fail a mission at any point feels pretty bad - rebalancing it so instead you're trying to keep the bar from filling up would maybe feel better?

Other than that, it would be nice to have a little more juice and satisfying interactions, because in the end it's a game where you click through menus which you have to do over and over again. Just stuff like e.g. picking up and dragging mice into the roster, or some more sound effects for different events (alarms going off, safe getting smashed, intimitating squeaking, etc...) things like that would have made the whole experience wayy more engaging IMO.

You delivered a great game, once again!

The game loop is fun, it’s easy to see the mice stats thanks to tooltips, you have a nice variety of events, overall it’s a very polished game.

Great submission, good job!

Really polished game! Navigation trough the menus was specially satisfying. Art and sounds also amazing. Most feedback is regarding to balance and having a lose condition but still, great loop and really fun game overall!

I love the theming and you did a really good job putting this together in a short time. I wish there was a way to upgrade stats or have missions give a weighted chance to which stats level. I wasn't lucky enough on quietness boosts so the final mission had 100% chance for every obstacle but I was constantly getting caught. A smaller improvement would be the ability to skip the day without doing a mission. At the end, I had more than enough cheese so I was simply doing filler missions while waiting for my mice to get out of jail.  Yours is the best game I played so far; you did a really good job.

How on earth did you pull this off alone in 8 days?? Amazing stuff, only thing I could say if I wanted to really be nitpicky (and I don't want to , game is fine) is some inconsistencies on the UI, as a digital artist I like line weights to be consistent :D

Very polished game! Everything had unique art, the UI works all the time beautifully, there's a fun variety of encounters, rats, and solutions. Really good job! One thing that I missed is that, to me, using a single mouse was always better after I got the backpack upgrade. And I could always grind the easy missions. I might have gotten lucky escaping all the time, but I wish there were a clearer incentive to using more mice.

But super fun game, I beat it in 49 days.

Such a fun and polished game! Really felt good to level up my rats and smash through the missions. I felt like certain attributes disrupted the attention meter more than others but I am not sure if that was clearly explained, and isn't mentioned when you hover over the different stats, it would be good to know that. Art is super charming and the rat faces remind me a lot of the Mewgenics cat faces haha. Overall a great entry and was super fun to play to the end!

The art feels super polished and clean, and managing a cheesy criminal gang is such a fun concept with strong Ratatouille vibes; the chunky sound effects and jazzy atmosphere make even the menus satisfying. The tutorial runs a bit long and could use more character-building dialogue for the rats, but the charm, expressions, and overall gameplay loop are fantastic despite the harsh jail time mechanic.
Edit: I also like the crow animation at the start its really well done!

That is a great game! Congrats on what you’ve done in this time.

The only point I have is that sometimes you’re caught right after a successful task which can be a bit frustrating.

Wow, it's really similar to other game I tried on this game jam :D
I love the option for upgrades. Game feels polished and it's super impressive that so much was done with time size of 1!

I love how polished and clean the art is. As well as the concept of having to  manage your criminal group of cheese criminals was so good! Had ratatouille vibes in a good way. Even named the unnamed mice Remy! I also liked how fat the sound effects sounded in a good way. Really made even navigating the menu satisfying. Aswell as the suspicious Jazz. I do think the tutorial was a bit too long as I think some of the information they were saying was obvious. I wish there was more dialog developing the different rats personalities as I think they have a lot of charm. The art also helped with this and there various faces. I think the jail time for your best mice was pretty brutal but other then that fantastic loop! Also would love to hear your thoughts on our entry if you have time but keep up the good work!

We have such similar games!! What I liked more about your game is
- The theme with rats and cheese, its super cute
- Comprehensive and great looking UI
- Upgrades!
Super fun to see your take on this approach! Well done! :D

A very fun game to play and a lot of options one can choose to realize some great heists! Good job putting in so much content in one game on such a short time. I really like it!

Developer

Thank you for kind words! :-)

Very impressive amount of content in the timeframe! I would have loved to see different kinds of jobs have higher specific stat challenges, like a stealth heist, a brawler heist, so I have more incentive to take different mice. Other than that though, it was great! Thanks for making and sharing it :)

Developer

Thank you for the feedback!

I like the idea of specific-attribute-driven missions.

Big Mewgenics vibes in the best way possible. Perfect theme usage too, love the mafia vibes.

This is such an UI based game, so I appreciate the visual style and coherence you managed to convey still.

Developer(+1)

Thank you! Mewgenics vibes are very flattering (I guess I can't hide 100+ hours spent in that game :-D).

Nice work, impressive amount of work within the timeframe.

I enjoyed creating a super mouse who ended up doing the entire big heist on his own and was so quiet he didn't generate any noise.

Nice use of the theme, the music really did a great job of setting the mood.

Developer

Thank you.

Training a supermouse seems to be popular strategy around here. :-)

As ar as for music, credit goes to Umplix, I just borrowed it for a game.

Very cool and elaborated gameplay for the time limit! Congrats!

The art and tone of the texts are very polished! I liked that the stats affected the mouse visual aspect (at least I felt like it affected haha).

Developer(+1)

Thank you!

Here is a secret - mice looks is actually randomly generated and not tied to their attributes. But I love that they were generated in a fitting way in your playthrough. :-)
