I really liked the game mechanics and the overall concept of the game. The music and atmosphere are very pleasant. However, I think it might be helpful to explain to players what exactly they are supposed to do and how to play — that’s just my personal opinion.
I often make games without clear explanations of what to do or how to play as well, so my games sometimes feel difficult to players. But I don’t see that as a drawback — rather, I see it as part of a game’s individuality. I actually enjoy challenging games, and my own games are like that too.
That’s why I really liked your game. Great job!
I like the concept of using bubble, but as other say it is little bit too hard. Maybe even slowind down the speed would help. I also think that it would be easier if stearing were left/right (one hand) and jumping/bubble (second hand). Moving by WSAD seems better for left-handed person
Funny you mention that because I'm actually left-handed, funny how that biases the controls for my game. In the future rebindable controls will be something you can expect!
😁 You don't necessarily need to add mapping as an additional option. Both keys can work simultaneously. It will be easier/faster to implement
I really loved gameplay mechanics of this game, but i think they should've been explained. I learned about holding jump to bounce higher and holding sprint to increase bubble distance only from the comment below. And still the game was really difficult, so i couldn't beat it xD. I'd suggest to lower the difficulty for first levels and teach all of the mechanics. Art and music are amazing though! Good entry
Thanks for playing! Teaching the mechanics was by far the hardest thing about making levels, and it's clear from the responses that I could've done a lot better. It's just one of those things that come with practice I suppose, so thanks for giving me some pointers! :D
And would you mind telling at what point you got stuck in the game? Just so I can figure where I went wrong
Yeah sure, i stopped playing around fourth or fifth checkpoint i think, there were two checkpoints next to each other, one of them was above the other.
Also btw some checkpoints are located right on the edge, so after falling i spawned on the checkpoint and immediately fell again bc i was still moving, not a big problem at all but i think you could place them a little further
Great work! Art and sounds created a very cool vibe. Found it very hard, made up to half inside vultures territory. Would love to try a version with controller support.
Thanks for playing! If I expand on this game or make a new one, I'll definitely be adding controller support :D
I like the visual style and the mechanics, but I found it a bit complicated xD, although well, I'm not really a platformer guy
I loved the adorable visuals and music—the world-building really drew me in!
I wanted to play more and see what came next, but I'm terrible at platformers. I couldn't clear that high cliff early on, so I had to give up.
very inventive little game! i wish i could see more levels, but like many of the commenters here, I found it difficult to get particularly far. jumping on bubbles is a very cool mechanic - i just wish the bubbles lasted longer! but i know it's meant to be a really hard platformer, like Celeste, and i appreciate that you haven't oversimplified it. (maybe an Easy Mode with longer-lastings bubbles would encourage the less skilful of us to go further...)
the graphics look great and the levels that i saw were very well designed. well done!
Thanks for trying out my game! I've read the comments as well and I would agree. If it's one thing I've learned for my future games, it's that I gotta make the difficulty curve more gentle
I am not a platformer player and the beginning was too difficult for me. Tried to make the first jump on the big ledge for a few minutes and then eventually had to give up. But the art and polish looks great!
Fun and super hard! Finished level 1 and got a bit into the jello level. Gives me Animal Well vibes.
The "hidden" mechanics are great: holding jump for longer bubble bounce, holding sprint for bubble spit distance. Expands what you can do with a simple mechanic.
I would have loved a persistent save mechanic. I wanted to come back to it later but couldn't cloes the tab without losing progress. But maybe that's part of an intentional arcade-style choice. And I fumbled some inputs with the keyboard layout. Probably a skill issue though.
Cute characters, clean pixel art, and the checkpoint system is appreciated.
I'm happy you liked it! Funny you mention Animal Well because I've gotten that comparison a couple times but I've never actually played it LOL. And saving was one of those things I would've loved too had it not been for time. Will definitely be a top priority if I continue work on the game (same thing for rebindable keys!) :D
Also at what point did you get stuck in the jello level? Just so I can adjust the difficulty in the future
Fun little game. I like the Idea.
Took a while to get the hang of it, I would suggest to lower the difficulty at the beginning and make a small level to introduce the mechanics with a small tutorial.
Thanks for playing my game!! I agree I could've done more to explain the mechanics of the game. I tried doing what Celeste did with minimal on-screen instructions and let the player figure out mechanics organically. But I definitely could've reinforced mechanics better by peppering in smaller, easier platforming sections in my levels. I'll keep this in mind for my future games :D
A little too difficult for me! But it was fun. The aesthetic was great.
Thanks for trying out my game!! If I could ask, where was the point you got stuck? Just so I make my levels better in the future :D
I really enjoyed playing through this, it was fairly difficult for me so I appreciated the fact that respawning was very quick, I think that works well for games like this such as Celeste where you are expected to die hundreds of times. I think right now respawning might be too fast since its instant, maybe a quick death and respawn animation ~0.5s could help to smooth it out.
Thanks a lot for playing!! I agree dying is pretty abrupt - the game could've benefited from more polishing. It'll be good to know for next game at least :P
I like the game! I managed to finish it, but I never saw any blue bugs, maybe I need to take a special route for that? I’d also suggest slowing down the fall when you’re inside the jello, and maybe tweaking the respawn point placement a bit :D
Nice work overall, congrats!
Thanks for giving my game a try!! I agree with your suggestions - if I ever decide to expand on the game, I'll for sure spend more time refining the mechanics. And as for the blue bugs, I can at least promise you they're not hidden behind any invisible walls LOL.
What a cool game. Had multiple moments of "oh I cant do this", then broke through. Got as far as I could into the jello level. Good work! Love the graphics.
Thanks for trying out my game! If I could ask, at what point in the jello level did you get stuck? Just so I can make my levels better for the future
So it was the checkpoint right before this shallow jello, in a trench with spikes below it, and a sunglasses bird patrolling back and forth in it. Then there was a platform covered in spikes in between another jello with multiple birds, I think. and just juggling all the things broke my brain lol
Yeah I was worried about Level 2 being a bit overwhelming LOL. Thanks for letting me know :D
I liked this one a lot. I found the platforming challenging but very fair, the only thing I would change is make it so that if you try to shoot a bubble while one is already active, instead of having to wait a cooldown, make it so that the existing bubble explodes to allow the new one to spawn, that way you still only allow players one bubble and the time between misfired bubbles is diminished.
I love the artstyle, it's very cute and polished. The music and sound effects were also very nice. You made a really good game, be proud!! :D
Thank youuu, I'm really happy you like it!!! That's a great solution to the cooldown problem, if I ever decide to expand on this game that'll probably be the first thing I implement LOL.
