I really liked the aesthetics of the game. Unfortunately, I could not find the flashlight, even after restarting the game and playing up to that point again.

Who is the architect of this house, listen, I just want to talk. Ok bad joke, I just found it highly disturbing to that one room had no lamp or light switch, but that's not even the most disturbing thing... the toilet burger is. Ok ok, the actual feedback:

Very fun game I think. I personally didn't encounter like that many bugs? Like one was just being a smart ass and locking everything up before needed, so I just needed to re-do the locks to progress with the objective, but I'd call that barely a bug. I enjoyed the ambiance and atmosphere, the added detail of having that static-rasp on voice acting was also fit the low-poly aesthetics very well too. Nothing much to add, nice game, solid package for me, good work!

Developer(+1)

hey! Thanks for checking it out I appreciate the feedback, had a few people say it was really buggy but I’ve played it so many times and couldn’t recreate the issues. I’m glad you had a smooth experience and I’m glad you found the toilet burger! I thought it’d be funny to hide some last second when I was out of time. I think making the audio crunchy to match the “psx” vibes it one of my favorite parts so thanks for saying something about it. Thanks again for playing I’ll check your game out if I haven’t already!

Submitted(+1)

Like others said, some of the objective items would have been easier to find with a quick highlight shader. Also introducing the flashlight earlier could be better maybe? It took me some time to find them and some of the objectives are buggy. Anyway the atmosphere and the global silence makes the game pretty stressful, i was kinda hooked at the end, especially when you have to go outside as you can't see anything. The assets are also really cool!

Developer(+1)

thanks! Ran out of time so I had to rush a lot of things! But I’m glad you still enjoyed the game! Thank you from you playing!

Very well put together game and very comfy house layout to, especially the living room, felt like the Livingroom of an uncles house you never visit. I really liked the way you handle being able to do multiple actions on one object with the scroll wheel, that's something I haven't seen before and really takes the hassle out of remembering a bunch of keys controls. The bit crushing on the voice lines and other sound effects was really nice as well, I'm always a sucker for good bit crushed audio. speaking of voice lines, the voice actress did a very good job at sounding like a casual/care free person as well. Good work on this gem of a Jam game!

Developer(+1)

Thank you! The voice actress hates hearing her own voice in the game she’ll be happy to hear that you liked the voice acting! Also thank you about the about everything else too! The interaction system is a bit clunky not as polished as I wanted it. Also  a bit weird to get used to but I love the interaction system. Thanks again for checking it out. I’m pretty sure I played yours too so I appreciate you checking mine out too. Anyways I’m repeating my self I think so good luck on the voting!

Submitted(+1)

I really liked this one. I was locking every door behind me trying to predict what would happen. One suggestion would be to have grab be the default option instead of use. I kept accidentally dialing the phone and toggling the flashlight instead of picking them up. Other than that, really solid work!

Developer

Thanks the interaction system takes time to get used to for sure! Thanks for checking it out, I'm glad you enjoyed it! 💖

Submitted(+1)

Nice game! i got messed up by the weirdo since i couldnt get inside fast enough but had fun anyways! Also cat pictures are always bonuspoints! <3

Developer

Yeah! Cat pics for the win haha. Thanks for checking it out I appreciate it! Glad you enjoyed it, Thanks again 💖

Submitted(+1)

This is one of the best submission I’ve played so far! Great pacing and storytelling. Also some tense moments, like when you’re forced to drop the flashlight in order to pick-up the gas canister. Loved the intractability, something sorely missing from my submission I realize.

Somehow managed to get myself soft-locked in the generator shed by the bad guy on my first play through 😂

Developer(+1)

ope! Sorry about the soft lock! And I know lots of my stuff wasn’t 100% polished especially the objective system. So I’m sorry about that! But I’m glad that you enjoyed the game I had to cut it extremely short because I ran out of time 😅 so I’m glad you enjoyed it either way thanks for the kind words! Also I’ll check your game out too! Thanks again ❤️

I really loved the look of this game. I know you said you overscoped (And I'm sure there's a lot you planned to add) but with that in mind, you managed to pull off a cohesive look. Even when people can't finish in time I hope they submit as it's nice to see prototyping in general but you got further! That includes the environment props, the color balance, lighting. Glad your gf could help you out as I'm a firm believer of voice acting elevating any game. I can see this as a finished product, hope you see it through and thanks for sharing <3

Developer

Thanks! I'm glad you enjoyed the game! I put a lot of effort into it so and I'm mostly happy with how it turned out so thanks for the kind words! <3 I plan on getting back to it and making it more complete at some point. I am just taking a break and playing a ton of submission to the jam, yours is next! Thanks again for checking mine out 👻💖

Submitted(+1)

Awsome work! I'm was surprised to see the system with the mouse wheel to switch the action, it worked well on my side. I like the aesthetic of the game, especially the fact that you can see your player. I had some trouble understanding some objectives, especially finding the broken satellite dish. But awsome work, if you polish it, i would really like to see how it looks

Developer(+1)

thanks! I’m glad you enjoyed it I ran out of time quicker than I thought I would so I had to rush some things including the objective system so a lot of the objectives were rushed. I wanted a waypoint of some sort for the satellite but had to cut it.. thanks for playing! And thanks for the feedback I’ll check your game out if I haven’t already! Thanks again!

Submitted(+1)

The game design of this game is above average. There are plenty of bugs, but I liked the atmosphere throughout. You're very talented. Well done.

Developer

Thanks! I know there are bugs 😅 had to rush to make sure it was playable and I could submit it for the jam.. thanks for checking it out! I’ll check your game out if I haven’t already.

Submitted(+2)

I got lost trying to find the satellite too and had to look through the comments to realize it was next to the bush haha. The ending made laugh. We all over scope. You still managed to submit and keep me entertained for a bit. Would love to see you finish this out. Great work!

Developer

Thanks for playing my submission! Yeah I was going to have like an icon tracking the location of the satellite or something like that but just ran out of time. I definitely think I’ll update it or something after the judging period is over. I need a tiny break before I get back into it and fix the mess of code I left behind. Thanks again for playing! Good luck in the judging.

Submitted(+1)

Some parts are bit buggy but I enjoyed the spooky atmosphere very much :)

Developer

Thanks! I overscoped haha. thank you for playing

A really good game, one of the best games i've played in this jam. The game design is not bad. I would liked to get more out of the story. At first, i didn't see the burglar too, but when i did, i got a little scared.

Developer

Woah thanks! Not sure mine is the best but I appreciate it! I had a lot more I had planned and I Ran out of time 😅 The man at the end and most of the objectives were rushed so that I could have some sort of ending to the game 🥲 I didn't end up having as much time as I thought I would, Had some things come up during the jam. So yeah a lot of things got shortened or cut, that's why is feels a bit empty! Thanks for playing my game! 💖

This is a really cool game!

I can relate to the overscoping thing!

Some of the colliders very really offset especially the gas canister, I tought I solftlocked myself cause I picked it up and dropped it in the livingroom and I had to look at it at a very akward angle to pick it up again!

The lock your doors quest only worked when I unlocked and locked my front door again after I locked it at the beggining of the game, as previously mentioned that mechanic really added some spooky factor to the game and had me scared from the getgo!

Footstep sounds would have made the experience much more immersive.

When the burglar guy appered I did not even see him, I only heard the scare sound and seeign him would have probably been quite scary !

His colliders seem to be broken, he was just running in my face without killing me which was rather goofy, even as a overscope, would have been way scarier without that glitch (This could have just been a cutscene also)

You should also play and rate my game roughneck, it will change your life and you will get 1 milion dollars in 2 weeks!

Play and rate to affirm 1 milion dollars in 2 weeks! (Refunds not accepted)

Developer

Thanks! Yeah had to rush a lot of things in the end 😂 The killers box it kind of tied to the door I kind of banked on the player running back inside! There is a trigger by both doors and when you enter one or the other you die no matter what.. I ran out of time for a proper ending unfortunately. But Thanks for playing! And thanks for the feed back! Also I think I played your entry already but if not I'll double check and play it! Thanks again 😎

Submitted(+1)

Really spooky, great build up. I love how the fact that there is an option lock the doors adds that much tension. The scare was done tastefully with just the right amount of shock. Unfortunately, I encountered a bug where the game won't progress even though I've locked every door. So I had to think like a dev and guessed that the progression trigger somehow didn't trigger when I locked the last door so I opened it and locked it again and it worked. Really solid entry overall, overscoping is a curse for every game jammers lol. Oh and one more thing, I think you honestly shot yourselves in the foot by using Unreal. Imo it brought no value to this game in particular and only served to blow up the download size. But that's understandable.

Developer

YEAH! that's my fault on overscoping the whole objective tracker system was one of the last things I made with unfortunately means I rushed it and there was some issues like what you encountered. Also I understand what you mean with Unreal it's the first engine I've learned and I'm so comfortable with it, plus I love the node coding its easier for my brain haha. I'm pretty dyslexic and I struggle reading out code I've typed so I'm afraid to switch to another engine and dealing with typing code out again. 😰 It's been so long since I've type out code properly 😅 anyways I'm rambling and thank you very much for playing my game and leaving a comment! Good luck on the judging your game will place very high! It was too good not to! Thanks again!♥

Submitted(+2)

Really atmospheric! I'm still in the middle of playing, but I'm already loving it. Also the photos are super cool, by the way!

Just wanted to mention a small bug: I went straight for the burger in the fridge at the start (don't ask), and after that I couldn't pick up the satellite dish, had to restart the game :D

Developer

Oh! weird okay, You couldn't drop the burger? 🤔 I'll look into it! I kinda overscoped and ran out of time to polish a few things so my bad 😅 thank you for checking it out! The photos are kind of random haha, just people from my life and my cats. thanks again!

Developer

You might have to crouch to reach it 😅 I didn't make the players reach super far.

Submitted(+1)

This Game Captured A Quite Scary Feeling In Such A Short Time! I, Like Others, Had Trouble Finding The Satellite Dish, But Was Able to Locate It After Reading Comments Posted Here. I Also Thought I Had Soft-Locked Myself By Dropping The Phone On The Floor, But Realized There Was A Crouch Button Upon Checking The Controls! Very Well Done, Overall.

Developer

Thanks! I had to rush things in the end 🥲 so somethings missed polishing. Interaction prompts and control prompts kind of got looked over, as well as the objective system. Thank you for checking it out I put a lot of effort into it. I'll check yours out if I haven't already!

Submitted(+1)

Very cool game! You managed to maintain a very good atmosphere of horror throughout. By giving the player option to lock the door from the start made me very paranoid about leaving anything open. Though I think it might have messed with the "go inside and lock up" trigger (since all the doors were locked), but it worked after a moment of opening and closing doors.

Perhaps thanks to the fact that the setting is not typically horror-y and instead something personable it was far more unsettling and scarier to me than most other games I've played.

Big props on being a solo dev as well, it’s a lot of work to make all the assets in time, and even if you over scoped this time, next time I’m sure with better planning and experience you will manage to make a fully fleshed out game ♥

Developer (1 edit) (+1)

Thanks! I put a lot of effort into the game! I always over scope it's my weakness 🥲. I need to limit my self a whole lot more and I think I'd be able to put out better content. The objective system was rushed which is why the door locking part is kind of messy. I'm glad you enjoyed I appreciate the feedback too! I'll check your game out now! I've checked out like 45 games I cant seem to get a lot of people to check mine out, So again I appreciate it! Thank you 💖💖Edit: Wait I'm dumb haha I checked out your game I really liked it 😅 thanks again!!

Submitted(+1)

Really cool game! I love the personal vibe of it, the pictures of you and the detail you put into the house interior :) At first I struggled finding the satellite dish but then I saw the other comments pointing out where it was. But then I wasn’t able to pick up a burger, I think because I had the dish picked up and I wasn’t able to put it down anywhere. If you can hint me how I could continue, I’d totally try again :) Wanna see if there’s a horror part comming up. Atmosphere is already great! Only thing I would recommend to improve - the mousewheel button prompt is kinda irritating at first, when there is not more than one option to select.

Developer

Yeah the interaction takes a second to get used to it is a bit weird 😅So to drop stuff is just Q. I locked the eating behind the objective of the dish so that people wouldn't eat all of them before the objective and get soft locked. But yeah once you grab the satellite the objective to eat gets triggered instantly so you can just throw back on the ground if you  really wanted haha. But yeah I ran out of time and had to rush a bunch of stuff at the end 🥲 thanks for playing!

Submitted (2 edits) (+1)

The atmosphere is great, and it’s really nice to have voice acting! I had a hard time finding the satellite, but it was worth it for that express ending (plus, since I was running the whole time, I was out of breath right at that moment, haha).

I tried to pick up the burgers that were scattered outside and put them back in the fridge to see if it would do anything.

Your object usage mechanics are really cool and full of gameplay potential.

Thanks for the experience and good job!

Developer(+1)

Thanks! A lot of things got rushed in the end (mainly pertaining to the objective system) So a lot of people are getting stuck because of it. I wanted the satellite to have a marker above it but just forgot in the rush of things 🥲and the ending was very abrupt as well because of the rushing. Thank you for checking it out! I appreciate the feedback!  💖

Developer(+1)

Also! I wanted to add silly things like collecting the burgers for a secret but again 🥲 the time crunch was awful especially as a solo dev.

Submitted(+1)

I completely understand, time is precious, but honestly, the experience is still really cool and you can adjust what’s missing to make it complete after the jam. :)

Developer(+1)

Absolutely! Id like to add more to it of course but dang I made it a mess in the editor when i started rushing I'm afraid to try and organize that mess!
