Wohoo, I beat the game. It was a very good card battler, impressive for such a short time. I liked the tactical choices after each round. I had fun playing it.

Developer

Thanks for playing and nice job beating it!

That was fun! It is rare to see a solid deck-building game on such a small scale, but you have totally nailed it. All the choices felt meaningful, each card had its own uses, upgrades/rewards were enjoyable, etc. Also, very cool visual aesthetic and sound design. Bravo!

Developer(+1)

Thanks so much!

The visuals are promising, but the controls feel awkward and inconsistent, which makes the gameplay frustrating at times. The level design is confusing in spots, and the lack of clear goals can leave players directionless. With some serious polish on the mechanics and pacing, this could be a standout jam entry. If you have a moment, I’d really appreciate it if you checked out and rated my Halloween jam game too: https://itch.io/jam/gamedevtv-halloween-jam-2025/rate/3971977

Wow, I'm impressed that you were able to create a card game using Ren-Py. I didn't realize it was capable of that.

The music & artwork is very good. Selecting/using cards was kind of slow and unresponsive. I was playing the web version. Maybe the downloaded version works better.

Developer(+1)

Thanks! You could use Ren'Py to make RPG and 2D games if you're willing to write some code. The web build is known to be laggy so the downloadable version should run more smoothly.

I really liked the art style — honestly, I’m a big fan of that creepy-pastel kind of look. The gameplay is also enjoyable; the game makes you think while still being entertaining. Excellent work!

Developer

Thanks for the feedback!

- Best card entry I have played so far. It hard because alot of the appeal to me about card games is the monumental amount of content and moves they which can be hard to achieve in a game jam.

- Music and art is great. Very unique

- UI could use a bit of work. Like I have to drop a heal on an enemy which is confusing
- Im into the font too

- How'd you make the art for this game?

Developer

Thanks! I agree that the UI can be improved. I ran out of time to add a tutorial to explain that you can drop the heal onto the player stats bar. The art was made by the talented aespipu!

Nice art, nice chilled vibe, I could've done with some more polished UI and feedback to help me get a better understanding of what was happening to start with as deck builder card games aren't normally my thing. But really nice entry to the game jam , great job

Developer

Thanks for the feedback! I ran out of time to add a tutorial so I'll look into adding it after the jam.

The posterized style really fits the style of this game. Really cool! And as a fan of games like Command of Nature, a deckbuilding game with this style? Awesome! Keep it up and think about picking it up again!

Developer(+1)

Thanks and Command of Nature looks really cool! We could try it out after the jam.

Normally I'm not really into deck building card games, but I've to say KnitBone: Rituals might have changed my mind. Despite the simplistic look, the mechanics are quite deep and the randomized cards + stats keeps me hooked and looking forward to every encounter! also I'm a fan of the artstyle, kudos to the artist! oh scratch that, kudos to the whole team for this gem :D

Thanks so much!

The game is very well done and enjoyable :)

Card battler in RenPy! That's unique.

Developer(+1)

Thanks, I had to tinker with Ren'Py to make it work!

Submitted

I want to try that as well now :)

For a game jam submission this game is really insane. Nice visuals and audio, great gameplay. Only the UI could look a bit better. Very nice work!

Thanks so much!

I enjoyed playing and replaying it.

My main pet peeve is that it's a little weird to have to use your heal cards on enemies.

And my boy Hastur should be in yellow.

Developer

Thanks! Good point about making the heal card more intuitive. I'll see if I can make Hastur yellow in the next release.

Nice card game. I enjoyed it. Not sure why I am having a knife fight in an art gallery though. Only feedback I have is that it feels weird to have to drag heal and draw cards onto the enemy.

Developer

Thanks and good point about the heal mechanic! I'll think about how to make it more intuitive.

Not one for card games but this one really pulled me in, fantastic job! And it's made me rethink trying some more games like this as well so eye-opener! Well done!!

Developer

Thanks, I'm glad you enjoyed it!

Enjoyed this one, but that's mostly because I enjoy card games!
Overall, the game was fun and I was able to beat the game with my patented Candles + Pendant with +2 draw! :V
At times the upgrades were a big gamble, as I didn't know what I was going to get, and I fell for the Stats only giving max HP- not sure if it gave anything else, but that was what it kept giving me.
It kind of reminded me of "Nobody's Home" or "Sorry, We're Open". Similar vibes.

Developer

Thanks for playing! Nice combo you have there. Regarding stats upgrade, there's a small chance that you can also increase "Energy".

Good looking visuals, nice sound and visual effects, fun gameplay once you get used to it.

Some critique and suggestions:

  • As always with such games it took a while how to use cards, it turned out I have to drag and drop them. Consider changing the cursor to grab one, as people have the experience with web applications, it should make it easier for them to understand how to use the element.
  • Again, at least for me as for the one who is not super into card games, the first round of upgrades, choices and configurations I had to do after the first battle was a bit overwhelming. Consider introducing mechanics gradually over time.
  • Buttons effect on mouse over breaks the vibe a bit, everything is flat in the game, but those buttons have depth because of gradient. This is a tiny thing, but I writing it down because probably it may be important:)
  • Music is very good, yet it is very chill…and the character is stabbing dark figures with the knife. Again, a small things, but the games are all about reception.

Thanks for the critique and suggestions!

  • I didn't have time to add a tutorial so I can understand if the UI/UX wasn't clear at first.
  • Good advice on incrementally introducing mechanics over time.
  • Could you clarify what you mean regarding the button effects?
  • Thanks for enjoying the music! Our composer's style was ambient/chill which is why it didn't sound more dark ;)
