Oh… Is the best game that I have played this game jam. I like all of it: The way that when you are outside of the flower the art atmosphere and the sounds get more intense, the design of levels, the sprites…I would like see a full version of this metroidvania in a future, please, do it!!

No plans for a full game of this - but I can definitely see it - more plant types, more items, different bosses, and the ability to get higher hp so you can live longer outside of the bubbles.

This is a great game, and the atmosphere is spot on with the music and the camera that shifts only after moving to point X. That said, I really didn’t like having to hold the jump to go higher, and wall climbing honestly just frustrated me, I got really mad at that big wall haha

Thanks for the critique :) If I did it again that hold to jump would probably be scrapped and the wall jump would be fixed.

Excellent mini-metroidvania and a masterclass in sound design!! I think you could have gone even further with the creepiness of the evil air...like maybe a zone that turns more and more red instead of white... and you have to keep going. The it felt SOOO ominous and scary whenever I got close to running out of air. I had a few really close calls. The writing was good and the game has a really satisfying conclusion, which felt rewarding cus some of the precision jumps and the boss fights were tricky. Controls felt good for the most part. Only thing that felt a bit awkward for me was using the Sun Gun, i prefer left hand WASD, right hand spacebar, so I couldn't have my hand also on the mouse while platforming. The color palette swaps were effective as well! Great work!

You went above and beyond with this review by dropping a YouTube video, I totally appreciate it. 🙏 I actually almost put red palette into the game to signify when you were really low hp but it's just one of those ideas that got scrapped due to time constraints.

One of my favorite submissions actually, I love the effects, the animations and mainly the idea. The sounds fit very well also and the difficulty gets very hard, maybe a bit too hard for me haha. Overall though a very very strong submission, job well done!

An overall strong entry! I really appreciate how you've used the static screen areas in an interesting way. Not being able to see ahead of you, and having to quickly scan the new screen area while running out of oxygen to hopefully find a new flower is a compelling way of using what was originally a limitation of the hardware. 

While I quite enjoyed the game overall, there were two points that detracted a touch. As some other comments have mentioned, the wall-jumping feels a bit awkward and the platforming challenge near the end with the floating blocks ended up being frustrating. And secondly, the SFX that plays when one of your bullets hits a wall is way too loud and feels very grating.

Despite those two points, this was definitely a good jam game, great work!

Thanks for the critique! I find the Sound mix and difficulty are two very difficult aspects to get right in a game but will keep in mind for the next jam or a future patch

crazy fun game with great use of the flowers and tense gameplay. Jumpman anyone? so cool. Great design although a couple of blind spots which is fine because you can get back ez unless you do what I did and run into another flower further back. SFX is great and impactful too. I am biased to platformer but is going to be hard to beat for me in the fun department.

A great platformer for a game jam! The wall jump was really challenging, but racing against time to find the next oxygen source was very fun. The dynamics feel solid overall. Congrats!

The skill barrier for mastering those wall jumps is pretty high, but wow is the game atmospheric. Ir reminds me of Metroid Prime 2 Echoes when your in the world. Very tense game which is a nice change from many of the cozy ones on this jam. Very good work!

I really enjoyed this one! The level design is awesome, and the sound design fits perfectly. The core mechanic and the rush of having to reach a flower before time runs out are really well implemented.

I could definitely see this as one of the strong contenders for the win. One thing I think would suit the game well is a hard mode where you don’t respawn and have to restart from the beginning. I’m not a hardcore player myself, but I could see that being very appealing for speedrunners or even streamers.

Thanks for the review! I never considered a hardcore mode but it could be a fun challenge. The bosses can kill you immediately as you walk into the door though so I'd have to iron that bug out if hardcore mode were to be fair

Really cool game. The theme is great, the art is well done, and the sound effects are very satisfying. I liked the variety in flower effects, and the fight sequences were fun. My only complaint is the wall jumps. 2-3 frames of coyote time off the wall may shore it up. Well done!

I loved this game. a wonderful intepretation. but the controls are a bit jarring. especially the wall jump was annoyingly difficult. but I managed to safe the planet! well done.

Wow I really loved this such a unique fun concept! The timing to reach the next bubble was perfect for me! The wall jumping took me a moment to get used to the rhythm but apart from that it was everything was smooth, really great stuff

  • Very good atmosphere
  • Constantly under pressure reaching the next live-giving flower feels exciting, especially when you reach on in the last second
  • I really have a hard time getting used to WASD Controls on Platformers (I can't do precisie jumps - my brain just can't handle it). I know lots of games do it nowadays and it has to be like this because of the Mouse Aiming, but it really makes the game very hard for me ;)

I loved the concept and I thought the gameplay during the action sequences was really fun. Those races for the breathable bubble added a nice tension to the gameplay, too. That said, the wall jumping/climbing mechanics felt like they could use a little more love, but it was a really great experience otherwise.

Great concept, great execution! Very inspired music design flipping between the calming "breathable" track and the literally heart pounding outside track. The wall jump controls were a bit awkward, and the visuals weren't anything special, but those are my only notes! Well done!
