Sometimes in some action games they do like a pause before an important action. Like when to dodge. When you meet the first enemy and maybe show a little cutscene of the buttons you press and the action on the enemy that would be perfect.
It would show the player what exactly to do and then the player can try on a second enemy
I find it halarious you made a gaem featuring by 2 of my top 5 favorite animal, a Malard Duck and a Capybara, it was painful to watch that little duck launch across the screen.
Only joking
Your gamplay is addictive and extremely fun, and it is backed by a soundtrack and sound design and enforces a "keep playing me" mind set. I imagine this game would also be incredible on a phone as well, which I will write a review once I try it on there.
If there is any improvements I would make it would be to maybe have a move intense physics on collisions(I know this is easier said then done) but I when your duck makes contact with a capybara it doesnt feel like there is enough feed back from the collision. I think maybe even a screen shake could help this.
Overall though I am really looking forward to keep looking into this game. I will be review again on phone and I had a blast!
This was a really good game. Your a very good writer when it comes to witty dialoug and I enjoyed progressing through the story.
Honestly I loved that your battles moved pretty quick. I have played some game jam rpgs where it felt like the battles took way too long but honestly I feel you nailed the pacing pretty good. And I was impressed you had so many items avaible. I am really looking forward to seeing this game built more. I will be playing more.
Biggest point of improvement I would say is style. I feel you should look into other fonts and really lock down a solid colour pallet. Right now it seems your colous and style is all over the place and I think your game could be much better if you chose a font and some colours that really match the tone and style of the game your making.
Your art is fantasic and I really enjoyed the game concept. I feel unlike many of the other games in this Jam I played, you kinda build a world with this one and I really enjoyed that part of it too. Your page and background to the game says so much.
If add to the project the stuff on your page can be in the actual game :P. Joys of 7 day jams
I believe someone mentioned this, but you should enable fullscreen scaling, I am assuming you were worried about how your pixel art would scale in a full screen but if you have all art set to nearest, Godot does a good job scaling all the art to the nearest pixel.
Your game itself is very fun. I always enjoy the more frantic style puzzle games!
