Great 3-color aesthetic, solid experience overall! Eventually managed to find the exit after getting a bunch of items (love the classic Isaac way of not being told what effects items have). The game feel is very nice for a jam game, awesome job!

Developer

Thank you! I also prefer having the players figure out what effects the items do, but I also acknowledge that it is a bit unfair to players with it being a jam game and will be adding a note in the description to help with that. Very glad that you enjoyed it though!

Really nice retro-feeling game. I don't have much to add that other's haven't written, but I'll place emphasis on the upgrades. I couldn't tell what they did. Cool kill for time mechanic. Nice cohesive look. It's fun.

Developer(+1)

Thank you! I agree with a lot of people in the comments here that I probably should've put some indication as to what the upgrades did and will be putting a note in the description after the jam as I didn't manage to figure out a clean way to implement that into the game itself. Either way, I'm glad you enjoyed it.

Cool game, I love the lighting and particles effects they really add a lot to the simple artstyle. Killing enemies to get more time is a very neat mechanic. My only nitpick is I had no idea what the upgrades I was picking up did but overall good submission, well done!

Developer(+1)

I agree it probably would've been helpful to explain the upgrades in some way, but I couldn't figure out a good way to do so in the game itself. I'll be putting a note about which one does which in the description after the jam is over, which should hopefully clear up some confusion.

Well put together on all fronts. I like how some enemies didn't just have a constant walking speed but would stop and pounce. Main thing I felt was needed was some balancing to the rate you lose time and how close an enemy can spawn to you when you enter a room. Very small gripes on a very well put together entry. Nice work!!

Developer(+1)

Thank you! I agree the enemy spawns can be unfair. To save time for the jam, I more or less just created a number of presets of different enemies and spawn positions instead of fully randomizing it all, which means it's not as easy to fix as just tweaking some numbers. That being said, the version I went with could definitely use some reworking to be more balanced.

Really enjoyed the pixel art and overall vibe—super cool! The gameplay loop is fun, though I wish the time loop mechanic was integrated a bit deeper into the gameplay instead of mostly narrative. Some clarity on upgrades would help too. Looking forward to seeing how it evolves!

Developer(+1)

I'm glad you enjoyed it! Looking back it probably would've fit the theme better to replace the randomly generated map with a larger map that always stays the same, but one of the best ways to learn is to try and see what mistakes you made so I'm not mad about it at the end of the day.

Submitted

Nice top down shooter! I wish the loop concept was integrated a little more. A solid entry with tight shooting.

Developer

Thank you! It probably would've been better to focus a bit more on the loop idea over the randomly generated map, but it ended up as an enjoyable experience so I'm happy enough with that.

Love this little game! Fun idea with a compelling gameplay loop. I was a little mystified by the upgrades, but aside from that everything was pretty clear. Great work! :D

Developer

I'm glad you enjoyed it! I agree that I probably should've added a way to signify what upgrade goes to what, but I couldn't figure out a way to do so in the gameplay itself. I will make sure to add a note in the game description saying what they do after the jam though.

I like when you pick the wand, as a feedback, I would add a description to each upgrade :)

Developer(+1)

Thanks for playing. I will make sure to add a note about the upgrades in the description after the jam.

I have zero idea what i had to do but i did it.

Developer

With the map being randomly generated, I have seen it spawn one room over from the spawn room. Hopefully that wasn't the case for you and you actually got to play the game properly lol.

Submitted

Cool little game, I really like particle effects, it looks great we you pick up the wand.

Developer

Thanks! I probably spent too long on that one thing but at least it turned out good.

Nice little rogue-like game to have some fun with. Great visuals and vibe, gj :D

Developer

Thank you and I'm glad you enjoyed it.

Pretty cool, reminds me of Binding of Isaac.

Developer

Thank you, and Isaac was one of the main inspirations for the idea.

Neat game with isaac like mechanics. However, the time loop concept haven't yet been fully explored, there is potential to integrate it more somehow

Developer

Thank you! I agree I could've worked the time loop concept in better than just a narrative reason, but I just didn't think of a way to do that at the time.

Submitted

Nice easthetic and fun concept for the game. I was hoping the mechanism of the time loop would be used for more then just a narrative explenation. What if it was just one consistent dungeon you slowly learned to make the quickest route to explore? The time constraint allows you to encourage the player to experiment with different things on the same dungeon rather then complicating yourself with random generation.
The sprites definetely had a tight visual language which is always fun to see, and the use of red to signify damage amidst an otherwise monochrome landscape is brilliant. The music felt a bit uninteresting, though it worked well in the mix with the snappy sound effects you put in. So good job on that too.

Developer(+1)

Thanks for playing and for the feedback. I agree that repeating the same dungeon is a much better idea than I came up with but that's how you learn I guess. As for the music, that comes from a lack of experience and knowledge as I almost never try to make anything in that realm. Regardless, I'm glad you enjoyed the game overall.

A nice game with some very cool pixel art and effects! I got stuck between the doors the first time but it worked well after I started the game again and ran through the doors. Nice work!

Developer

Thank you! The door bug is something I missed that sadly a lot of people seem to be finding, but it should be fixed in the post jam update I am working on.

It seems that if you do not release the down button soon enough after entering the first room to the south, you get stuck behind a closed door.

But once you clear that, you get a decent dungeon with Binding of Issac's control scheme! Fighting enemies is fun and the music is appropriately creepy.

I think the biggest credit to this game is the sound design, those are some satisfying sound effects!

Developer

Thank you! The getting stuck behind a door bug can happen anywhere and I sadly missed it before the end of the submission period, but it has been fixed in the post-jam update I am working on. And Binding of Isaac was one of the main inspirations for this game, with the other one being Minit.

Bug: I got stuck between the doors at the very beginning, I guess I wasn't moving fast enough. I was able to refresh and get through it on the second try.

Developer(+1)

I'm sorry to hear that. I discovered that bug just after the submission period of the jam ended so was unable to fix it in time, but it has already been patched in the post jam update I am currently working on.

The time bar being : the timer, your health, and being regenerate when you defeat an enemy or enter a room is clean game design I envy. It's so clever. You also mastered the 8 bit sounds and monochromatic art. The gameplay is a bit simple but it's so short, I didn't have time to get bored : great work !
