i think the ui could make it a bit clearer to the player what's going (e.g. displaying a message that says "select a card to upgrade"), but otherwise very nice game!
Thank you! Yes, the feedback if definitely something we could improve :)
absolutely loved the game and its ambience, pretty cards artwork combined to simple yet complex strategy and a smooth music ( i've played it for like a hour and I couldn't pass year 12 :')
Happy to hear that! Yes, the game gets exponentially harder as the bear gets older, because there's no way to run away from death :,)
Super cozy and chill card game with lovely art and a relaxing vibe, but still enough strategy to keep you thinking. The deck and discard system is pretty cool, tho a bit tricky to get at first
and some folks wished for clearer indicators when upgrading cards or discarding.
The writing, specially the ending, was surprisingly moving, and the whole ‘preparing for the last winter’ theme really hits. Could totally see this expanded into something even bigger. Overall, very wholesome and kinda mesmerizing
Thank you so much for your feedback :)
Really enjoyed this game. Chill vibes, nice concept, clean execution and all round polished :)
Absolutely love the artwork, big props to your artist! Really tied the game together.
Thank you so much! :)
Nice card game! My bear got 10 years old!!
I would love your rating to my game!
Thank you!
Sure, I'll check it out :)
It has a lot of depth to it but its also just a cute game about the life cycle of a bear :)
It didn't need to have as much depth as it does, it just needed to be cute, so it's really cool how much there is to it, even if you can kind of just click on the options that give a lot of energy
Thank you for your feedback <3
Nice cosy game. I don’t know how, but the end screen is so well written it almost made me cry (now I have to re-rate all the games and give them lower narative numbers XD). Also the artstyle is amazing.
Thank you :) Props to my talented teammate, who put together this poetic end screen!
very chill and peaceful, it feels like an interesting board game, and love the artstyle used here. Bear is cute <3
Happy to hear you enjoyed it :D
Hello, composer from the game Attic Requiem here! Omg this was such a great game! This game made me feel something towards the end... absolutely beautiful game. I originally clicked on the game because I saw a bear, but I wasn't expecting it to be a card game, so that was a nice surprise. Loved the artwork and music too, very wholesome.
Thank you so much! I'm also super impressed by what our composer produced :)
I liked the art style, it's very good and the game is also polished but when I land on the '?' step the UI doesn't work, is there something I'm missing?
You had reviewed our game, it was actually my first 3d game so I had a lot of issues, hence appreciate the negative feedback😅.
No worries about the quality of the game, you submitted something, that in itself is an achievement, trust me :)!
About the (?) space, there is some inconsistencies on the game, sometimes you just find yourself softlocked, I could not find the origin of the bug sadly...
Managed to make it to year 10!
I loved the artwork and sound. Very serene and relaxing. The gameplay was great, too! Simple, but effective! I think the deck/discard mechanic could be explained a bit better (or visualized somewhere) and maybe give cards that have gotten an upgrade some visual indicator that they are upgraded (like showing a +1 to energy on a card gaining a +1 from some effect, if that makes sense.)
Overall, very good entry!
Your feedback is very valuable, thank you!
We did plan to add some feedback, but due to lack of time we couldn't and some of the mechanics are indeed obscure / poorly explained...
Anyways I think the game might not be so simple for such an event, in which not everyone is aware of what a deck builder / engine builder game is :).
Thank you for the comment, glad you appreciated!
It’s still super impressive for such a short jam!
I’d absolutely love to see a fuller edition with more opportunity to control outcomes. I feel like the years move fairly quickly and each year feels very similar to prior years.. maybe more slots per year and have some years contain events (possibly dividing them into seasons with each season having some effect, then sub-effects on the season). That’s absolutely too complex for a jam, but I guess all I’m saying is that this idea has bones and can absolutely be expanded in fun ways, and I’d 100% play that final result haha!
I made it to year 11. Really a cute game, lovely art work. The mechanics are really smooth and the game plays well. I really wished it had more story - but I appreciate it's made in a jam. really good work!
Thank you so much :) We actually had small cutscenes planned, but the 96 hours passed faster than expected ^^
aha it always does, time flies 😭
This is a wonderful game with a simple but powerful narrative. The ending line—"But there will be no more springs"—stays with me long after playing.
Thank you! :) We're so happy to hear that the story resonated with you.
Thank you, my colleague did find out the idea for the narrative and I was on board with it!
The little flavour text at the end is somewhat dramatic yet poetic, tragic indeed...
Thank you for your insight!
Really interesting card game mechanics. I wish it was a lot more clear when I was about to discard and upgrade as well as the size of the deck, though I generally got the groove as it went on. The vibe is great even for the sparse animation - I do wish I saw the full cards. This is a concept very worth developing and is mesmerizing in its own way. Add some juice and this is very worth expanding.
Yes, we did lack some times to add some QOL and juice to the game :').
Thank you for your comment though, I had the chance to work with a very talented artist!
I passed away on year 10 :'( less than half a grizzly's average life span :'( I love the art on the cards, but it seems like the browser cuts them off? also consider having the key art on the left change with the seasons? Nice jamming!
At least the bear had ten happy years :) Yes, the cards are cut off since we didn't have time to add any animations. And thank you, that's a good suggestion!
What a lovely art direction! As the creative guy of my team, I raeally enjoyed all the illustrations. Really good entry with a charming atmosphere.
Yes, our artist was really talented, props to her!
is it me, or did the game bug out every time i landed on a ? Edit: somehow it went away after i refresh the game. Edit2: Decent concept but it seems like i rather spam the cards without reading what the effects are. Also I can spam click all the cards, and still play even tho i have 0 hearts left.
It is a known bug that occurs randomly, I am still not sure what causes it but it might be asset loading time out...
Oh that is odd...?
maybe set a cooldown timer for cards being played, or double check the collision box
I'll check it out yet :')
This game has a really nice art style. The "game over" text at the end was really well written and moving - did not expect it (unexpected 5 stars for narrative). It took me a couple of rounds of playing to fully understand the gameplay but once I did I got the hang of it. It is a very good and original interpretation of the theme. I know there's some pretty good tutorial text at the beginning but I think something I would recommend for these type of games is a guided "practice" round at the start to ensure the player understands the mechanics before letting them off. But also understand that it's really hard to do that within a short game jam.
Stellar work overall :)
Thank you so much, we put a lot of love on the art and narrative, glad it was appreciated!
Thank you for your comment!
The art was beautiful and the game was pleasant. The music gave it a gentle vibe. This had a bit of a board game feel to it.
Yes I am actually biased towards board games :')
A game with lots of potential — it fits the theme well, with great art and narrative.
Thank you very much for your comment!
