fishing and ninjas is an interesting concept for a stealth game!
Delivers a really chill asian vibe throughout the campaign (which I honestly didn't manage to finish because fishing games are just not my thing and I don't have the patience). Still wanted to leave you a comment, congratulating you on the artwork and sound, and one awesome looking fishing rod.
I though this game was a ton of fun! I enjoyed the music and assets you chose for this, but California Sensei really takes the cake my dude!
Super fun concept, I loved the mix of stealth and fishing. Great job !! :)
Very cute and fun game concept! Really captures both ninja and fishing games!
Actually had a lot of fun playing this
didn't think that fishing could be that hard
Fishing with ninjas? That's new... but it's fun. The game screen could have been a bit bigger though. On the other hand, the fishing mechanics feel satisfying and the dialog is funny. Good job!
Others already said it, but the rope physics is so well done, great job !
I can't stop messing around with the fishing rod!
Nice rope physics! I was a little confused how to actually catch the fish in the second area, but like that you have Sensei explain it afterwards. I was not expecting the level of challenge, but it was a lot of fun. It did feel brutal to need to catch all the fish without being caught in one run. Maybe you could add an accessibility option that allows you to keep the ones you already turned in?
Given that I was just praising another dev for adding an easy mode in their platformer game (I am HORRIBLE at platformers) I can see no flaws in your suggestion, you're absolutely correct.
Yo that fishing line physics is so cool. i was mesmerized by it.
Your comment makes this programmer very happy, thank you!
Very creative concept! I was not expecting a dialogue like this, California Sensei is truly the best.
Nice idea, and i liked the dialogue. Would've liked a fish indicator and some pitch shift in the step sound because it was way too repetitive. The steps of the onis was an awesome idea too. Great job on the submission!
Thanks for the feedback - and the pitch shifting is a good idea.
In hindsight we probably shouldn't have accepted the integrated UI when we didn't have an artist on our team and were just using assets. We kept struggling with a good way to indicate when you had a full brace of fish. Right before the deadline it occurred to me I could implement having bands of gold appear on the fishing rod with each fish caught, but it was so close to the deadline I wasn't going to risk implementation before the deadline.
Ohhh i see, i thought it was odd it didn't have a fish counter in a hud, that's why
I loved the dialogue - "You slip away like a tech ceo avoids taxes" 😂 The little pitter patter sound while walking around was great. Also the oni indicator was a good touch.
Cool game! I liked the humor 😄 And the music sets a nice relaxing ambiance when fishing!
I also liked that you must be careful to watch if a circle appears when fishing, so you're not just trying to react as soon as you hear a fish getting hooked.
I enjoyed having a small visual indicator when oni are nearby, but I still had trouble keeping track of their position, and I ended up getting spotted by some of them that I couldn't see while sneaking, which could be a bit confusing at times.
And it would be nice to be able to sneak around without having to hold the space bar!
Also, nice rope physics!
As a programmer, you noticing the rope physics made my day. Thank you!
Also, yeah, I realized only too late that the sneaking should be a toggle - we did manage to add CTRL and SHIFT as alternative buttons to the SPACE BAR, but too late to change any of the dialog.
We had planned to have tons of mini-games for the various different fish, but, as ever, ran out of time. We were happy to have fit in at least three different ones (regular, ring, and the rare red-bubbles)
Loved California Sensei. Enjoyable to pitter patter around the map and get those fish
Cool take on the unseen theme! I thought it was going to be a relaxing fishing game, then it got pretty challenging at the second area!
The dialog was amusing. Neat take on a fishing game.
The way you worked in the UI was fantastic. Very fun!
