It's a cute little platformer, I just wish that the octopus had a more active role within the levels, it felt a lot more like they were just telling me where to go as opposed to working together, maybe if they could act as a platform for the player and they moved to appropriate spots on the level when close by?

Developer

thanks for the suggestion

Game was quite enjoyable, level 2 had so many cheesable parts lmao

Oh and also I've reached the world border lol

Developer(+1)

that my be a glitch, you usually can’t. godot’s build system is glitchy.

Looks really good, didn't like to go back at the start after i died, wish there were some checkpoints, overall nice game

Developer

the levels are moderately short, so I thought it wouldn’t hurt that much to die, but yes it is annoying. plus in such short time add checkpoints felt unnecessary but could had been done.

Super cool and unique idea concept for a game! Love the art style and the gameplay loop :)

I love this!  Great game!  The octopus is super cute but did he really get to become a human?  Cliffhanger ending much 😅 Also I didn't know you could export for mobile from Godot... Might need to learn it!

Developer (1 edit) (+1)

its simple if you have done some android development before, you just need the android sdk, a key-store which is documented on how to get one on godot’s docs, and you should be done. Full Documentation.

Also I decided not show the transformation as it would take time to animate so left it on a cliffhanger.

Sounds like I'd have a bit too upskill on - I've only made a couple of short games and only ever used Game Maker Studio...  I'm more experienced with the art and music sides.  So thanks for the pointers! ^_^

That's fair though!  Was nice to end how it did anyway.  Kind of sweet that they both just sort of ignored the fact that he was still an octopus XD

nice game :D

I had a good time with this game :)

The gameplay is simple but enjoyable. The fact that the player has an underwater inertia is a good idea: if you run on a vertical slope, the player is pushed upwards and so you have a kind of extra jump. I think this mechanic could have been exploited more.

The puzzles are far too simple but they do not slow down the overall flow of the game.

At first I thought that the octopus would be too talkative and would slow down the flow but it's fine. The narration is simple and effective.I would have liked to see more backstory about the octopus, the world and the shark but I think you lacked time for that. By the way, the final battle is funny^^

About the musics, I saw that you composed 5 musics, good job for that. The musics are very simple but they fit with the overall atmosphere of the game.

On the graphic side, it is a bit poor, more details (little rocks, fishes, seaweed, etc.) would have brought more life. Anyway, you made this game alone within a short period of time and it is still fully enjoyable without this.

Developer

thank you for the feed back. Also I did see the walking up slopes problem but decided, to keep it and is actually used in the climbing wall parts of the level, you can do a run up and get a boost up.

What a cute game! It's totally WOWIE! the story the sound the art! You nailed it man! 100 out of 10 ..X)

Really cute game, got stuck between two blocks and could not move from that

Developer

I knew people will get stuck and didn’t have time to iron out issues so I added a reset level button: ‘Q’ (or ‘select’ on controllers)

I love the octopus: "Obviously I can speak" :D :D

Also the other things he said... like the fish :D

This game was so funny!

And the sounds made everything even better! Great Game!

I added humours if the gameplay was not good enough and also I love story line based games so, I heavily leaned into interesting conversations.

Really cool game, very nice and relaxed. It may be simple, but the amount of details is incredible. Not to mention the music, so many good tracks. To think this was done in 3 days! Nice job!

Submitted

Pretty nice and relaxed game. There's a glitch where when you move the pixels on the character stutter, just a thing to look out for in the future.

Developer

this is a problem with Godot’s web build, it glitches on some device but fine on others, I really can’t do anything. the native game is much cleaner

I like this story type game! Very amazing visuals, it was quite fun!

Developer

I love story line based games, so I did what I love.

Yeah that’s true but I decided to leave it, as it will take to long to refine it.

Also, this it the colour palette if you are interested.

It is impressive for a first game. I would suggest adding some particle effects to make the visuals even better. Good job overall!

Developer(+1)

I was experimenting with it, but decided to ditch it as I still was quite new to godot and couldn’t get it right
