An interesting game, I appreciate that you acknowledged the difficulty and made a way for people to still see your end screen.  I know there is totally a market for super hard games like this (even though I am not one of those people who plays those).  I see a lot of people already left some feedback that I agree with so I will just say nice job on finishing a game for the jam!  Keep up the awesome work!

Developer(+1)

Thank you for playing my game!

I'm not planning on expanding on this game because i don't really like the concept itself (but it was good for the jam), so i don't think i will post it anywhere else.

Good luck with the jam!

Quite a solid game - I didn't have any problems with difficulty after I understood the separate running timelines, the "only kill you when you are not looking" enemies and the deathzone forcing you to move. Really, the most frustrating thing were the randomly appering spikes, which should be removed. Those spikes also froze one time, together with an enemy, making it impossible for me to progress. I shouldn't have to reset level 3 every time I die as well.

Developer

Thank you for playing my game!

The appearing spikes are made by the shadow enemies. You don't need to jump over those guys.. they can't hurt you, but their spikes CAN hurt you.

I already know about the frozen-spikes bug, but i just didn't had the time to look into it (checking it later... it would take an entier code rewrite of the shadow enemy) but thanks for reporting it.

And also like my menu design, the third level was really rushed, bc i needed time to figure out how to export a game, and then publish it here!

(also.. i think you are the first one who understands really how to play this game :P ).
I hope you enjoyed playing!

Submitted(+1)

Ah, so my assumption that the shadow enemies kill you only when you are in the different timeline was incorrect and coincided with them spawning spikes incidentally. Still, the spikes did spawn quite suddenly.

Developer

They spawn spikes in every 4-8 seconds, so yeah. It's quite random :P

Submitted(+1)

neat idea! but i can't say that about the execution... at first i was like wow it changes worlds!! but then i got frustrated because i didn't have enough que to be prepared for the change and its so sudden i make an error almost every time!

but at least you finished it! and that's the point! good job and keep it up!

Developer

Yeah ik about all that!

The tutorial i made is a bit bad (i have that clickable "how to play" window in the menu screen), and the game is also too hard.

I had a plan to add different difficulities into my game but i just run out of time before i could finish it :(

Thank you for playing! I hope you enjoyed it even tough you failed the first level (tell me if I'm incorrect)!

Submitted(+1)

don't be sad! every game developer must make bad games to become good! these are all important steps!

just don't get discouraged! and make a lot of small games! every time you fail, make an even smaller game! until you make something that resonate with a few people. then you can little by little increase your scope!

i enjoy seeing everyone is trying their best! including you.

yes, i failed the first level. but i got to experience it and thats a good thing!  i'm not a great developer myself either!

Developer

nah.. don't think I'm sad!

The only reason is why the things in my game is a bit rushed, bc i spent 5 days of the jam for an idea that i coudn't pull off.

So after that, i spent two days and two nights trying to make this game (which is very similar) with all the textures i made in the past 5 days, and some very basic code (ui buttons, character moving, etc...).

Submitted(+1)

I tried playing it a few times but it is indeed to hard for me :D but that's ok.

Interesting idea and good use of the theme, although technicly some bugs arise like the character dissapearing when you switch characters or it wasn't all that clear how the system worked (could be me).

Anyway, nice job :D

Submitted

I have similar game, check mine too, please

Developer

Thank you for playing my game!

Ik about the invisible player bug. It only occours when one character dies.

The reason why you did not really understand how the game works, because it's pretty complicated, and the tutorial i made is really bad (you can find 4 tutorial pictures on the "how to play" window, inside the menu by clicking on it!).

I'll check out your game too :)

Submitted(+1)

Neat idea! I have a few suggestions though. The first would be to make the ui a little bit better. The story at the beginning felt a bit odd, perhaps put the name of the person who was speaking at the moment. The second would be to maybe have only the level you failed at reset if you mess up. It felt a bit demoralizing when I would get to a point but screw up in another level so I had to start everything all over again. Other than that, it's pretty neat! If you have the time, I'd also appreciate it if you played my game!

Developer

The menu, intro, and the outro was the last things i did before the jam ended (i had to count with difficulities that could have occoured trough posting up my game), so i didn't had enough time to make it any better (my original plan was to add more pictures and less text in the intro...).

The checkpoint system was stolen from the first five days that i used for a similar game like this (but it didn't worked out so i had to start again and made this game), so changing that would been a real nighmare (i already spent more than 4 hours trying to get it to work). So the reason i didn't made it better is because i was afraid to even touch it XD
It worked fine, so i just went ahead with my other plans!

Thank you for playing, and i sure will check out your game too!

Submitted(+1)

Nice idea, but a little unclear on what was happening. I got a little confused on some parts as to why I was resetting. But good game!

If you wouldn't mind checking out my game as well that would be great! Thanks!

Developer

Yeah... i didn't quite finished the tutorial, so the only thing i did was a clickable "how-to-play" window in the menu, whichs shows some very basic gameplay.

Thank you for playing my game! (and i already played your game and rated it! It was fun, but the controls were a bit glitchy :P )

Submitted(+1)

That's a really neat idea for a game! I have to admit, I wasn't able to get past the first level. I think this one just didn't quite click for me. The switching mechanic was cool but I think I didn't really understand how it was being implemented. Good luck with the jam!

Developer

Thank you for playing the game.

The reason why one guy had smaller gravity, because the story said the two guys are actually the same but he teleports beteween two locations, meaning it teleports onto an another planet with smaller gravity.

Thank you again for playing!

Submitted(+1)

Nice idea, but way too hard for me to play :/

Developer

Yeah ik.

I needed some gamemodes with different difficulities, but i didn't finished it in time, so then i had to throw that feature out.

Thank you for playing my game! :D
Really hope you enjoyed it, even tough it's way too hard!

Submitted(+1)

Hi! I loved your game idea!!

But as you had put on your page it is really hard to survive rsrsrs

You could make clear here was the "safe spots" for player survival. My only other critic is for the menu design, it was a little confusing where should i click.

Developer(+1)

Thank you for playing my game!

The menu is a thing i made in the last seconds...

I haven't actually tought of making where safe spots are (there are not a lot of them tough...) but its a good idea! Thanks :D

(+1)

It is a good idea. You should have left out some time to fix the bugs. I dont like that the physics remain active in both scenes. I suddenly got killed in another world and respawned

Feel free to check my game

Developer (2 edits)

The reason why my game is buggy and empty of special stuff.. is because i originally made an another game in 5 days, but then i realized its not working with bigger maps... so then i had to make this game 2 days with premade textures (i was able to use the textures i made in 5 days).

I even worked on the game nighttime  and i only slept like 4 and a half hours on the last two days! :P

Thank you for playing!
Sorry but i can't play your game... i don't have windows. I only have linux. :(

Submitted(+1)

I was so confused. I kept switching between characters and dying all the time. Maybe start with a very simple tutorial level (for simple people like me).

Developer

yeah ik! The how to play box is clickable to see more of the gameplay, but i forget to write it down in the game. Sorry about that!

Thank you for playing the game! :D

Submitted(+1)

good idea(i have simular), but sometimes I didn't know what was going on

Developer

Yeah... i forget to tell the players to click on the "how to play" window, to see more of the gameplay :P

Thank you for playing my game!

Really like your idea of the level swapping and the platforming movement feels good. Game is fun albeit a bit hard. Well done! I think with a bit more polish and time you could really expand on this concept.

Developer

Thank you for playing my game!

I really hope you enjoyed the game. I was actually planning in adding more difficulites so you can play it in easy or normal mode (both of them would have been easier than the current setup), but i ran out of time and couldnt finish it.
