Thank you :)!

Didn’t like that the mouse cursor is locked and the light can shine only in the direction you’re facing, I think the player should face the direction the mouse. Also didn’t like the pits where I could not see the spikes. In one of them there was no spikes and in the other there were

Great stuff! The camera felt a little hard to control, and I found myself hitting my head on the caves a lot. Other that than I enjoyed playing this, great job on everything you created something really cool!!

Developer

Thank you, your game was very impressive I really enjoyed it!

Cute art and music is nice and calm. Camera could use some more work and i really wish i could use the light to see all around me instead of 45ish degrees in both directions and maybe see a little more since i had really hard time navigating around the caves. With a bit more polish i think it'd be a great game!

Developer(+1)

Thank you! I agree, unlocking the camera + making your arm have more freedom of rotation would have been great improvements!

I had a fun time playing this.  I might have kept going to find the sword if I didn't have to start all over each time.  Thanks.

Thanks for checking it out! Yup we should've made checkpoints -- the game is quite too punishing as is

Nice idea. Using the mouse for the flashlight is pretty neat. But I played on Laptop with Mousepad, so controls where hard. But my laziness to not get my mouse is not your fault xD

Developer

Thanks for the feedback! Adding an alternate set of controls (e.g. arrow keys) is probably a good idea to help people without mice -- we didn't really consider how controls might be awkward with a touchpad.

couldn't make it to work on my machine , is there a download option ?

Developer(+1)

Unfortunately no, we didn't upload other builds :(. It may be a browser specific issue though (e.g. Chrome/Firefox may work if you're not using them).

Submitted(+1)

you're totally right , worked after changing the browser ;)

Loved it !

Developer

Awesome :). Glad you did!

This was a nicely done game. I really liked the battery idea and the music and feel of the game were very well done. I did have a problem with the slanted tiles at times as they would either glitch me inside of them or not let me jump and the camera moving with the mouse only would be a nice addition but as a whole the game is a great experience, well done!

Developer

Thank you! Letting the camera be tied to mouse movement could be an improvement for sure. Maybe allowing it to  "unlock" to let you move it separately with the mouse.

Also yes, definitely a big learning experience regarding using colliders with tilemaps haha. I wish we had more time to really go in and fix those issues before the deadline.

Submitted

Great idea! Plus, yeah, colliders are definitely one of the most annoying things for 2d games haha. Good job though!

Hey, I liked the game, the graphics, the atmosphere and it was kind of scary with the limited field of view very well done!

With that said, I did miss some things like being able to look the other way with you mouse instead of only the keyboard, making it hard to see where everything was and I felt limited by it.
The background music was good but the jumping sound was a bit much after a while.

All in all, well done :D

Developer

Thank you so much for your feedback! Haha yes, I'm not a fan of the jumping sound effect as well. Unfortunately we had to just run with it since it was so late but I hope we can publish a version of the game after the jam with at least that changed.

This was an engaging game. I died a lot, but I would keep trying for quite a while.
What I didn't like was that the flashlight had a limited angle, and that I would have to use my movement switch between looking left and right. The limited angle made it hard for me, as I could often not see, if there were spikes below me, or if there was ceiling above me, causing me to mess up jumps.
Still, all in all a very nice and polished game.

Developer

Thank you for your feedback! Definitely agree on all your points, I wish we explored increasing the angle of the flashlight more + making the direction your facing based off your cursor position instead of movement.

I like the game! The music in the back is pretty nice as well! One thing I have to say though is that the flashlight controls are really weird, and I found it difficult to use because of that. My suggestion would be to have the flashlight follow where the mouse is, that way you dont have to walk in the other direction to shine a light there. If you have the time, I hope you can also play my game!

Developer

Thank you, that's definitely a change I wish we had explored before the deadline!

Really good lightly effects :0 , I'm going to have to use Unity2D's lighting next time. If you have the time I'd appreciate if you checked out my entry :).

Developer

Thank you, glad you liked the lighting! I'll check out anyone's game who comments on ours :)

The game is awesome! Such a smart design. I did find the torch controls a little confusing though.

Developer (2 edits)

Thank you! Would some alternate control scheme for the flashlight (e.g. arrow keys help)?

Submitted

I would like it if the player and torch point towards the mouse possibly, so you don't need to press a key before you can shine the torch behind you.

Developer(+1)

Ah I see, that makes sense. Yeah we probably should have tried that considering that seems to be a pretty common thought from people who have tried. Thank you again for the feedback!

The art is really nice! though it could use some smoother animations and smoother collisions. Other than that i really like the way you handled the light! overall, great job!

It would mean a lot if you could check out my Jam submission if you get the chance. Thanks!

Developer (2 edits)

Thanks for playing and the feedback! I definitely wish we had a bit more time to polish and iron out the animations and collisions.

Great job on your game again! :)
