Wow it's an excellent game. Hey btw when I was playing I think you forgot to turn off your debug tool. If you press numbers you get teletransported to new zones. But, you can fix it. Good game!

Developer(+1)

The number keys are my Easter Eggs, as described on the page. But I am so glad someone has actually used it! Thank you for playing my game!

The game looks promising! I encountered the mouse lock issue and oh gosh the celebratory sound effect spook me haha. The world is quite open, quite a sprint to reach the important places and I can't seem to find all the candles. Still, I see your 20s reference, and your characters are a delight!

Developer

Thank you so much for checking out my game. The candles have a last-minute bug that they stop at some point that I didn't get to fix. But you are free to go anywhere anytime in any order, even the top of the mountain, without any candles, balloons, or cake. The player's accomplishment won't be judged in my game ;D   My Easter Eggs should help teleporting points of interest faster if needed. I didn't say it in the description, but the Unity's Third-person controllers I am using comes with the option that if you hold the Shift key while running, it will run even faster. Thanks again.

it's surprisingly fun to play, I like the foot IK and dialogue system

Developer

Thank you so much for checking out my game. Yes, foot IK is nice. Once I have used it, I can't go without it for my game characters.

I really enjoyed the experience. You've brought the Unity assets to life in a very original way. The concept is charming and full of nostalgic touches, and I appreciate the effort you put into building all those points of interest.

I loved how each location had its own personality, from the Gorilla Wood to the Robot Lab, and how you tied everything together with a lighthearted quest that celebrates Unity's 20th Anniversary. The idea of collecting ballons and a giant cake across such varied environments is both fun and creative.

Congrats on the project and best of luck in the Game Jam!

Developer

Thank you so much for your nice comment and checking out my game!

This was great!  I couldn't get the candles.  It seemed like they stopped spawning after a while.
I got stuck and had to restart with the mouse disappearing while in a menu and wouldn't return.  I can see why you wanted to keep Unity-Chan, very cute :)

Thank you for playing my game.

The candles have a last-minute bug that they stop at some point. But you don't have to gather anything to proceed to do anything or go anywhere. The player's accomplishment won't be judged in my game ;D  You don't have to follow any order to visit any of the points of interest, either.  You are free to go anywhere anytime, even the top of the mountain, without any candles, balloons, or cake.

An open-world exploring game, future 3As. Can't say more about how much I was impressed, really nice work.

I also really enjoyed the flying-spell part, wingardium leviosa!

Developer (1 edit) (+1)

Thank you! So glad you enjoyed the flying-spell part. I did put a lot of work into it. I looked up that segment of Harry Potter on youtube to check out exactly what Hermione said to correct Ron. The gorilla's transformation animation was a fast split-second jump animation from Mixamo but I slowed it down so much that it reminded me of the effect in the movie The Matrix, which made it even funnier.  :D

Nice one although for me sadly i couldnt finish it! i git 7 candles and then it stopped! no more no matter how long i waited nor what i did! smooth animations though and nice dialogues! cudos!

It took like alot of time to load, but once it's loaded it was alot of fun❤️
I would really appreciate it if you could play and rate my game as well 🙏

Developer(+1)

Thank you! I have played and rated your game, too. Love the concept and lighting.

All this made by a single person looks epic and a pretty nice way to use those assets. Nicely done!

Developer

Thank you! It's basically 48 hours of sleeplessness.

Submitted

Well done, you really put a lot of effort in this. 👏

I must say, it took me a very long time for the game to start, I think a downloadable version would be suitable for the size of the game :)

Developer

Thank you! Yes, it takes a surprisingly long time to load (and build in Unity, too). I forgot to put a warning on the game page so people would not think my game just hangs. Thank you for your patience and not thinking my game hung. The first time I ran the game, it took such a long time to load that I panicked because I thought it hung. Then, after I added the title screen and the end game and updated the game only a few hours before the jam closed, I got an error from itch.io saying my data was too big, although my game is well below the limit of 1GB--it's only about 210MB.

I see a lot of efforts on map design, also this game was made by solo dev, so yeah, great job to create this possible in 2 days.

Developer (1 edit) (+1)

Thank you! Yes, it did take some experimentation of the terrain and basically 48 hours of sleeplessness.

Big birthday cake.

Developer(+1)

Yes, a big cake indeed. I want to make it even bigger, to the point maybe the player won't recognize it's a birthday cake.
