The pixel art and game mechanics are a good match for the project. Really like it. It's small but entertaining. Good job!

Developer(+1)

Thanks a lot! I'm really glad you enjoyed the pixel art and gameplay. I aimed for something simple but engaging. Appreciate the kind words and thanks for playing!

I really like the gameplay and the narrative. The light nodes do reduce the "stress" and can give the player a moment of relief and shelter for however long it's needed until feeling ready to go again--really a valuable feature to enable a non-gamer like me to continue to play. Of course, seasoned gamers could always choose not to stay there for too long. I was not sure if I was making progress in the game or just kept restarting the level, but I saw different cubes with different messages.

Developer

Thank you so much for your comment and feedback. Constructive input like yours really helps improve projects. Due to the limited time of the Jam, I went for a simple mechanic that could work for all kinds of players, experienced or not. I think it turned out quite well, since anyone can jump in and play. I didn't have time to clearly differentiate the levels, which can be confusing, thanks for pointing that out! Just to clarify: the game has 5 levels, and in each one you need to light up the nodes to activate a cube. Each cube reveals a milestone in Unity's 20-year journey.

Again, I really appreciate your thoughts. Now I'm off to try your game :). Best of luck in the Jam!

I really like the visual atmosphere. Personally, I was hoping for a slightly more horror-oriented direction, but I think it fits the story. The BGM might be a bit too loud. Good job!

Developer

Thanks a lot! Glad you liked the visual atmosphere. I aimed for something that supports the story's tone. I get what you mean about the horror direction, and I'll definitely take note of the BGM volume. Appreciate the feedback and thanks for playing!

just got to the end, fantastic

Developer

Thank u so much! I'm really glad the idea caught your attention and that you made it to the end. It means a lot to hear you found it creative (I had a great time exploring this concept during the Jam).

Thanks again for playing and for the kind words!

I was really interested by gameplay and narrative. I like that there is ending, so I wanted to finish end to know the full story.
Also I love mechanics safe areas provided by light

Developer

Thanks a lot! Really happy you enjoyed both the gameplay and the story. It means a lot that you played through to the end. The light-based safe zones were one of my favorite mechanics to design. This Jam was also a great opportunity to experiment with light-based sprites, and honestly, the result turned out better than I expected.

Thanks again for the kind words. They truly motivate me to keep creating.

Love your game. I was missing a visual cue, for when everything was lit up. So after the first couple of seconds did try with audio and there was an audio cue. Awesome cutout shader and good art. The nightmare deamons were also cool and i love how they fade out when come into light. I also love that the lantern had limited lifetime, so that I needed to plan ahead.

So only real feedback: maybe add a visual cue for when everything is lid. And add more levels after the jam. If you decide to work on the game after the jam, please reply so that I can continue playing.

Thanks so much for the detailed feedback. I really appreciate it. It makes me proud to see how much you enjoyed the game. You're totally right about the visual cue, the audio works but can be easy to miss. I’ll definitely improve that.

Messages like yours give me the energy to keep going in game development. If I update the game after the Jam, I’ll let you know for sure!

Nice game, really loving the art style as well! :)

Developer

Thanks! The art came straight from the depths of my mind :). Not my usual style, but the Jam pressure pushed me into this abstract vibe... and I'm really happy with how it turned out! (⓿_⓿)

Nice game! cudos! got lost a few times in the maze! give it a bit more the feeling of pressure and its gonna be lit!

Developer

Thanks a lot! Glad you enjoyed it. Haha, the maze can definitely get confusing. I’ll keep in mind adding more pressure to make it even more intense. Appreciate the feedback!
