Celebrate 20 years of the Unity Engine by doing what you do best; Making games.

Over the last two decades, Unity has strived to create a platform that allows aspiring and seasoned game developers to create the interactive experiences they have always imagined, by putting game development tools in the hands of what makes game development great…

The Community!

So let’s celebrate by making games together.

Jam theme will be announced at the start of the jam on November 7th, 2025 at 5pm UTC.

Please check above to see the jam starting time in your local time.

Join the celebration in the Official Unity 20th Anniversary Discord Channel: Discord invite link

By joining the official Unity Discord and participating in the conversation in the Anniversary Jam "team-hangout" (and following the channel guidelines), you will be eligible to receive the special "Jammer20" role in Discord.

The "Jammer20" Discord role is a limited-edition role that will only be granted to those who participate in the Unity 20th Anniversary Game Jam.

During the 48 hours of this game jam, you’ll have the opportunity to jam through the history of Unity. To celebrate 20 years of enabling innovation, we have provided a suite of assets that represent the history of Unity for you to use in your games.

Unity 20th Anniversary Assets: link to assets

IMPORTANT NOTE: Access to anniversary assets expire shortly after the end of Game Jam.

Each of these provided assets were created, throughout the years, by Unity with the sole purpose of inspiring the creativity of our community who uses the Unity Engine.

You are not required to use these assets throughout your jam, but we would love to see how you might creatively leverage them in new and exciting ways.

For those who do decide to use the Unity 20th Anniversary Assets, It will allow your project to be eligible to be voted on in the “Most Creative Use of  Anniversary Assets” category.

To get more info on this voting category,  please refer to the “Voting Categories” section of this page.

Though this jam will not have official winners, we wanted to give the community the opportunity to vote on its favorite games created throughout the jam.

So we’ve created some categories for you to rate projects you’ve played:

  • Fun Factor
  • Art
  • Sound Design
  • Uniqueness/Creativity
  • Narrative Design

We will also have a special category that will be voted on by our Unity team for the “Most Creative Use of Anniversary Assets”. The Top 3 rated in this category will be featured on the Unity Post-Game Jam Unity Livestream

To be eligible for that category, Unity 20th Anniversary must be featured predominately in some manner in your game project and comply with eligibility requires described in the "Contest eligibility" section below.

Please visit this link for the official rules: view official contest rules

We are inviting all Unity Developer across the world to join and celebrate with us.

All games should be created in the Unity Game Engine.

There is a maximum upload limit of 1GB on Itch. Games can be compressed as ZIP, RAR or 7Zip files. Zip is preferred.

The use of pre-existing code and art assets are allowed but you must have the legal right to use those assets. Please credit external authors of assets in your project description, where possible.

All games should be original games that were not created prior to the event or during other game jams.

Games files SHOULD NOT be updated in any form, either in engine or via servers managing games, after game jam ends and during judging period. Games discovered to have made updates post submission deadline will be removed from voting and ineligible to be played on stream or added to Unity Sizzle reel.

All necessary game files and builds for players to play your game MUST be a part of the game files on your itch page. Users should not be asked to download additional files not packaged with your game build.

The use of Generative AI tools is allowed but we encourage you to create as much code, art, music, etc. yourself.

Please note in your submission if you have used generative AI assets in your finished project.

At the end of the jam, there will be a 5-day community voting period where you will have the opportunity to play and vote on different games.

To ensure that every submitted game has an opportunity to be rated, we will be implementing a 3-game rating queue during the voting period. What that means, is that you will need to rate three randomly selected games before you can rate games freely.

We hope that this gives the community a chance to connect with games they may have missed otherwise throughout the jam.

In order to vote during the voting period, you must join the game jam using the “Join” button on the itch.io game jam page. Note: You do not have to submit a project to participate in the voting process.

During the voting period, you are not allowed to update your game files in any way or form (in Unity Engine or via remote servers). Breaking this rule will result in your game being removed from the voting process and ineligible to be played on stream or added to a Unity post-jam sizzle reel

Your game should only be playable via the itch project page. Any links that gives voters access to game files or builds outside of the itch page will result in disqualification.

You are allowed to update your game’s itch Page design, description, screenshots or anything else that helps players understand your game during the voting period.

Deleting your game project during the voting period will disqualify your project from being voted on during the jam voting period.

There will be a stream to celebrate the event where Unity employees will choose some of their favorite games and play them live.  By submitting to the game jam you are acknowledging that your project may appear on the Unity Livestream.

Please follow Unity’s brand guidelines if you are planning to use Unity’s branding within your project.
