Celebrate 20 years of the Unity Engine by doing what you do best; Making games.
Over the last two decades, Unity has strived to create a platform that allows aspiring and seasoned game developers to create the interactive experiences they have always imagined, by putting game development tools in the hands of what makes game development great…
The Community!
So let’s celebrate by making games together.

Join the celebration in the Official Unity 20th Anniversary Discord Channel: Discord invite link

By joining the official Unity Discord and participating in the conversation in the Anniversary Jam chat and forums (while following the channel guidelines), you will be eligible to receive the special "Jammer20" role in Discord.
We plan to give everyone who has participated in the anniversary jam chat or forum the badge. It will take a bit of time because we have to do it manually but those those who have chatted in the Anniversary Jam channels will receive it in time. It will be granted gradually over the next week.
The "Jammer20" Discord role is a limited-edition role that will only be granted to those who participate in the Unity 20th Anniversary Game Jam.

During the 48 hours of this game jam, you’ll have the opportunity to jam through the history of Unity. To celebrate 20 years of enabling innovation, we have provided a suite of assets that represent the history of Unity for you to use in your games.

Unity 20th Anniversary Assets: link to assets
IMPORTANT NOTE: Access to anniversary assets expire shortly after the end of Game Jam.
Each of these provided assets were created, throughout the years, by Unity with the sole purpose of inspiring the creativity of our community who uses the Unity Engine.
You are not required to use these assets throughout your jam, but we would love to see how you might creatively leverage them in new and exciting ways.
For those who do decide to use the Unity 20th Anniversary Assets, It may allow your project to be eligible to be voted on in the “Most Creative Use of Anniversary Assets” category.
To get more info on voting categories, please refer to the “Voting Categories” section of this page.

All games should be created in the Unity Game Engine.
There is a maximum upload limit of 1GB on Itch. Games can be compressed as ZIP, RAR or 7Zip files. Zip is preferred.
Submissions can be in WebGL or packaged executable files (an executable file that can be run on Windows, Mac and/or Linux). If you do build to Linux, we ask that you also make a Windows and/or Mac build. And if possible, we encourage teams to include a WebGL build on their itch page (but this is not mandatory); WebGL builds on your itch game page increase accessibility to your game and the likelihood that your game will be played by other jammers!
The use of pre-existing code and art assets are allowed but you must have the legal right to use those assets. Please credit external authors of assets in your project description, where possible.
All games should be original games that were not created prior to the event or during other game jams.
Games files SHOULD NOT be updated in any form, either in engine or via servers managing games, after game jam ends and during judging period. Games discovered to have made updates post submission deadline will be removed from voting.
All necessary game files and builds for players to play your game MUST be a part of the game files on your itch page. Users should not be asked to download additional files not packaged with your game build.
For rules on entry requirements to be eligible for the ““Most Creative Use of Anniversary Assets”, please review the "Contest Eligibility" section below and please refer to the official rules for the full list of additional contest eligibility requirements

The use of Generative AI tools is allowed but we encourage you to create as much code, art, music, etc. yourself.
Please note in your submission if you have used generative AI assets in your finished project.

At the end of the jam, there will be a 5-day community voting period where you will have the opportunity to play and vote on different games.
To ensure that every submitted game has an opportunity to be rated, we will be implementing a 3-game rating queue during the voting period. What that means, is that you will need to rate three randomly selected games before you can rate games freely.
We hope that this gives the community a chance to connect with games they may have missed otherwise throughout the jam.
In order to vote during the voting period, you must join the game jam using the “Join” button on the itch.io game jam page and either be a be a submitter of a project or a contributor of a submitted project. If you did not submit a project in the Game Jam, you are able to leave a comment on the entries game page directly to share your thoughts, if you are logged into itch. (Note: The previous two sentences were updated during the voting period to reflect the correct information. This previously noted that all joiners could vote regardless of if they submitted or not. That was in error and we apologize for any confusion)
During the voting period, you are not allowed to update your game files in any way or form (in Unity Engine or via remote servers). Breaking this rule will result in your game being removed from the voting process.
Your game should only be playable via the itch project page. Any links that gives voters access to game files or builds outside of the itch page will result in disqualification.
You are allowed to update your game’s itch page design, description, screenshots or anything else that helps players understand your game during the voting period.
Deleting your game project during the voting period will disqualify your project from being voted on during the jam voting period.
There will be a stream to celebrate the event where Unity employees will play some games submitted live. By submitting to the game jam you are acknowledging that your project may appear on the Unity Livestream.

Please follow Unity’s brand guidelines if you are planning to use Unity’s branding within your project.

Selected winners of the “Most Creative Use of Unity Anniversary Assets” category will receive.

Important Note: “Most Creative Use of Anniversary Assets” is the ONLY voting category with associated prizes.
