Fun little tower defence game, well done! And good use of anniversary assets also!

Must be the best ducking td game. Well done, considering the time frame this was developed at !

Submitted

definitely the best ducking TD game of all time!

Super inventive use of the Flappy Bird as turret-guns and loved that enemy wearing hat🎩, that twist made me smile. Great job! 😊

Developer

Hah! Thank you so much for this compliment! We tried our best between the two of us to play around with the Unity props that were provided :)

I like what you did in modifying the art for the enemies – fun! The music is soothing (but does it fit the theme?). ^^

Developer

Thank you for the compliment! And this is an interesting perspective! What type of music would you expect to hear or if it's possible, would you prefer choices for different beats of music? hah.

Very slow and basically no difficulty, in the end enemies just die instantly

Developer

Thank you for the honest feedback! We are definitely just sitting and taking all of the feedback in currently as we intend to continue to push more on this :). Does it have potential to fit you needs? What are 1 or 2 suggestions would you have for us to put focus into next, given that we are a 2 man team?

My suggestions:

  1. Focus on polishing core game loop aspects, balance and feel, it needs to be challenging and engaging.
  2. Develop consistent art style and change setting, maybe experiment with 3D art (you can check out Unity's Tower Defense Template).
  3. Add VFX that makes it easy to distinguish which towers hit enemies.
  4. Add enemy healthbars.
  5. Add tower stats info when clicking on tower, show tower range, also info about upgrade cost and changes.
  6. Add abilities that go on cooldown (ex: drop a meteor in clicked area).
  7. Add risk-reward mechanics like: investing gold in "mines" that give you more over time, summoning wave ahead of time to get more gold.
  8. Make less cells for towers to balance the player's power spike.
  9. Make levels, start game with small and simple ones, introduce new enemies and mechanics gradually.
  10. Star-scoring at the end of level based on how much HP you've got left.
  11. Add bosses.

Basically - look at all the TD games you like and analyse them thoroughly, see which common things you must have, which unique mechanics you like and what you may experiment with. And don't be ashamed of copying - everything was created before, we remix things, we put old stuff into a new context, thus making it unique and with our own flavor!

Developer

Thank you for the detailed list here! I appreciate the thoughtfulness and care because it means you do like the concept, just clearly wish it was way more developed!

Still playing it in the background!
Loved the overall experience of this game. I'm currently still playing it as I get caught by surprise by some enemies.

Definitely a game worth checking out if you are a fan of TD games!

Developer

Thank you for stopping by and for the feedback! It's a small work in progress (WIP) and that's definitely how we like it! I need to definitely be cooking up more enemies and mobs going forward depending upon how deep we go.

Little Diffucult to understand.. Good Game

Developer(+1)

Thank you for stopping by! Let us know what you didn't understand by the way!!! We don't bite :)

I wish there were 2x speed. It's a fun game :D

Developer(+1)

We definitely were sitting on this and had such limited time. We will plan on looking into this going forward and appreciate the insight!

Developer(+1)

Wait until we add 5x speed... Thank you for playing :))

Submitted(+2)

You've made a good job! But I missed challenge and speeding up time, so  I found the gameplay a little boring

Developer(+2)

We have noted this and I have a feeling this is going to be common feedback! haha. We are definitely going to let ideas simmer and press forward from here!

Great game! I had a lot of fun playing it and probably also because I love TD games, I found that the best strategy is to just stack a bunch of basic ducks at the start and it clears everything in a whim! I played until around like hour 10 btw, overall cool creation!

Developer (1 edit) (+1)

Thank you! It was awesome to see a game come to life in such a short time with just the two of us! We both had tower defense nostalgia too. The audio was homemade as well and we absolutely enjoyed the process. I am quite sure that we plan on continuing to unpack and have some fun diving further into this game.

Submitted(+1)

That's great to hear! Keep on making games in the future, you two are off to a great start! Good luck!

Hi! I've played your game, it's nice core for tower defense game, I know it's not easy to make that haha, but if I can give feedback, 1. Add some kind of juiciness in the game, when enemies taking damage, when they die, when turrets are attacking, that would be making the game so much fun. 2. Maybe in the future you can add some kind of stats when hovering on Turrets, their data, attack speed etc, so player knew what should their upgrade. That';s all, it was a nice game for 2 days, good job!

Developer(+2)

Thank you for taking the time to play and for giving us feedback! We definitely plan on juicing this up a bit here soon as we had a ton of fun building this out. I helped with handling the art assets, production, and plan on responding  to everyone that tries out our game with thoughtful responses. It was such a fun event and looking forward to playing some of the other games on here too and we appreciate you!

Cheers,

Stephen

Yup yup! You're welcome. Good luck!

Developer(+1)

Absolutely, we weren't able to implement SFX or visual effects in time for submitting but they will add such a good feel to the game. I like the stats idea! Thank you for playing :))
