one of the few tracks submitted that give me true video game vibes

Submitted

Very fitting to the theme(s) you have outlined! I especially loved the woodwinds and the percussion. Whimsical and emotional and the same time. Well done sir :)

Submitted

That you leave hallucinating with your composition.

Besides being beautiful and sounding great, it has a special charm. Worthy of a Hollywood super production.

Some lovely modulation going on in mushroomland! I really really appreciated seeing your Encore video. The gang of pizzicato violins (if that's what it is) that comes in around bar 12 or 13 has *such* an awesome texture. Nice work!

This is a really lovely track. It evolves nicely, but remains very coherant as a single piece of music. I really feel a sense of magic and adventure in this. Strong JRPG vibes in this, it reminds me of the music from the forest areas of FFXIV in a good way. Really well balanced in the orchestration and mix as well.

Enjoyed this theme! Very pleasant orchestration, I like those syncopated rhythms and lively  dynamics.

Very well orchestrated, fun to listen to, balanced mix and full of well composed musical content. It also sounds very professional. I loved it.

Great work!

Very nice bg music, kinda nostalgic - reminds me fantasy games from 90s...
Too bad that 2nd and 3rd track are missing...

Developer(+1)

Sorry for the two other tracks missing. I've made a mistake while uploading on itch.io and Soundcloud : I've focused on the first file as if there was only one, forgetting there was three, doing like for Dyzantheria. And when I've gone back to Itch two day after, I realised the problem but it was too late to change my mistake. So, it's my fault, no problem I assume everything. I just have changed the text on Itch and Soundcloud about the three tracks, but I coul't change the description written for the Jam ... The two other files (Main Menu & Fight) are here, on my desktop ^^"

Submitted(+1)

So... you can upload them after voting period of Jam, right?

Developer

I can upload them now, in a separated file, on my own cloud. But don't use them to make your opinion of the OST for this Jam. I forgot them, my fault, so they really don't have to be considered.
If you listen carrefully, you will can hear some same melodies use here differently, as most are leitmotiv/structural elements for characters and quests.

Thank you, I was just curious and wanna listen ^_^ (and don't worry, I will not change ratings ~_^). But overall... these two sound like fine bgm, good work.

Wow, this fit the theme beautifully!! I  could see this working in a number of different games.  Gives me Terraria nostalgia. :) Really well done!!

Wonderful piece of music, enjoyed every moment of it. Excellent work!

Very Dragon Quest, big fan of the mallets and pizzicato strings.

What a lovely orchestration. This really flows nicely. The chords really give the discovery and epic journey feel. It sometimes reminds me of John Williams in the best way possible.

I also checked Dyzantheria, it’s awesome!

The marimba really adds a whole lot to it- really enjoyed how that instrument was utilized. The chord structure throughout is also really cool- with modulations and some non-typical things happening. Really awesome- totally felt like a great town/area theme!

Cool music! I love the marimba and the flute in it! It's definitely my style :) Good job!

This is a really impressive piece! There's a lot going on, but the main motif is very clear throughout. Love the variety of instruments you've used, really making use of the whole orchestra.

such a good orchestral selection, my favorite so far! Totally accurate to the picture theme!

have a feeling you played way to much Gameboy games :). very nice, and yes, it has a Gameboy vibe for me. reminds me a lot old games I played, probably not your intention, but it is a journey into memory lane for me.

Love love love all these modulations. Great traditional style orchestration with that super lovable vgm twist we all long for. The motivic development here is real. That super catchy motif, with all its subtle placements in ostinatos and when it transforms to minor, ahhh yes *chefs kiss

I say, with every compliment should go a constructive critique. And since I'm not the most knowledgable about orchestrations of this style I'll just say, take some time to really make your scores readable. You could have a really sweet portfolio showcasing with this. I'm a huge fan of score material.

With that said, if you want to improve on score writing, always check your work after you import it to musical notation software. I know there were time constraints and to be fair, its not super important to this submission, but I would have loved to really analyze some of your musical decisions and ideas. And its very difficult to do that when there is no bass cleff haha!

Really inspiring orchestration and thanks for rating my piece, cheers!
