Description
Maybe this would fit well in a Fantasy Adventure/RPG game,

The track represents the journey to the mountains and the unknown that lies past them.

I guess this counts as Avant-Garde Metal but Im not sure.

Runtime (mp3): 8:17

I know that 22 sheet pages seems like a lot, but that is just because the structure of the song and because it has all the instruments in one sheet.

The song have 4 parts(5 if we count the introduction which have the same chords as the A part).

The song structure is:
Introduction (A B C B C A B C D) this part between brackets is supposed to be looped to infinity, the mp3 is 2 repetitions long.

Chords:
A

Message from the artist:
I hope you enjoy, this is my first composing jam, but i participated in a game jam before.

Cheers

Theme

a journey to remember.
Picture theme

How does it fit the theme?
I think the first two parts fit the "optimistic journey with friends" kinda vibe, and the other two parts represent the obstacles in the way, and when all of it is put together gives that "We will remember this forever" fell no matter the outcome of the journey itself,

If you take the "A Journey to Remember" picture above, have Roger Dean paint it, and include this song as the opening track, you've got an instant Yes album :) Very proggy, loved it!

Developer(+1)

Haha, Im glad you liked itm but i never heard a Yes album, so please dont kill me in roblox XD

I liked this right from the start!  I think your instrumentation ideas are really cool, and I so appreciate you putting your chord progressions.  Always appreciated, and your taste for unexpected notes really keeps the momentum strong and engaging.  Love it!

Developer

Thanks for the comment ^^ im glad you liked it

I put the chords (in the score and in text) because not everyone is able to read scores(i can, but im suoer slow xD) and, in my opinion, it would make it more accessible for people that play instruments and know the chords(or just people that know music theory but cant read sheets like me xD) and would meke it seem less as a bunch of random crap putted together in one week XD

I really like this one. The harmonic progression is difficult to predict at times, but without it ever feeling directionless. I appreciate you including the score because I could personally benefit from looking at more drum tracks and seeing how other people construct them. I'd like to hear more songs from this game, see what other directions it could go.

Developer(+1)

Im glad you liked it.

About the drums I generaly fill one measure with the next fastest figure of the melody(in this case the melody´s fastest notes were for the most part 16th so i used 32th) to have room to put fills, but thats just my take xD

thanks for the comment ^^

The composition and rhythmic elements are really interesting! I’m definitely getting lots of varied emotions from these shifting chords and unusual scales.

I think your production lets you down here a little – you spent so much time recording real guitars, but it’s hard to hear them clearly over the two louder, more ear-catching synth parts.

I’d love to hear you take another pass at this with fresh ears and see how much you can refine the overall sound – mixing metal is really tough at the best of times, but especially so when you’re on a super tight deadline!

Developer(+1)

Glad you like itm as statdes before, i didnt realize that my line in was like really far away on the voicemeeter 3d panel when i recorded it.

Besides me being like this when adjusting everithing really didnt helped at all xD

thanks for the feedback ^^

Well this is an interesting change of pace from a lot of the other entries. I enjoyed it, and I think it works well as background music for a game, its interesting enough to give some strong vibes, but it changes slowly and repeats enough that it never screams to take your attention away from the game itself.

I'm not sure if it needs more low-end or not. I can't feel any of the impact of the drums and bass like I might like with heavier music, but it sorta works with this chill sound you've got going on. And maybe the melody is panned a little too hard right for too long for listening on headphones, might have been interesting to have it swap sides in stereo or something.

Overall I had a good time listening for the full 8 minutes, and I feel pretty chill which is nice. I see you said in the comments you were gonna do a remaster, I'd be intersted in hearing what you do with that!

Developer(+1)

Im glad you liked it ^^

about the EQ, mixing and panning im like lvl 0 at using my daw, Im going to watch some tutorials to improve my mixing.

Thanks for the comment :D

chillwave prog-rock I guess?

Developer

I don´t know wtf it is, the only thing I know is that i made it xD

I hope you liked it.

very nice. probably wouldn't fit a slow progressing game, but when playing something fast like a car chase or a super intense boss fight it would largely increase the experience.

Im glad you like it *laughts in Brütal Legend*

Thought I wasn't going to like the track because of its static weird sound combination but I actually got really hooked into the ever-lasting jam. Loved the musicality!

Great work.

Developer (1 edit) (+1)

I realized after uploading it that i had the guitar line in like in a little too "far away" position in the 3D panel of voicemeter potato xD

im planning on re-record the guitar and record an actual bass for the track to improve the quality, also maybe fix the rhytmic patterns on the synth chord section, and maybe even change the synth sound entirely.

Anyways, Im glad you liked it OwO

Nice, liked the way the melody and the bass worked together throughout.

Developer

Im glad you liked it ^-^

It has "Night In The Woods" vibe at the beginning! But at the later part it's something original, not similar to anything I've heard before! Cool mix with metal guitar and synths!

Developer (1 edit)

i just took a look at that ost, never heard it before, sounds prety cool...

Im glad you liked it ^_^

Wow, very unique prog metal vibes here! Really enjoying how prominent and melodic the bass parts are as well. Great work :)

Developer (1 edit)

Idk if pure 4/4 count as prog, but thanks.

about the bass lines, like i metioned in other reply, im a sucker for prog tech death, and the bassist in those bands play really melodic bass lines from time to time.

thanks for the feedback ^_^

Submitted(+1)

I suppose that's fair! You did a lot with 4/4 though.

Developer

the thing with defining prog is that uses wierd time signatures and harmony, and the harmony is wack as hell for sure xD

Submitted(+1)

I really liked the track! It evokes the feeling of being at a strange place, which would be perfect for a videogame level. I would have loved it even more if the instruments were switched up a little from time to time, because even though the melodic and harmonic contents are amazing, it tends to sound a tad bit monotonous due to the same sound design throughout :)

Developer(+1)

Im planing to do a remaster with all the feedback, really apreciate the insigth.

i hope i can do it more justice with the sample choises and sound quality(the guitar sounds like crap, i know)

thanks for the feedback, ill be checking yours soon, have a nice day ^_^

We will have had orchestral, epic, 8bit, contemplative, electro, atmospheric OSTs, ... only "WTF" one was missing to complete the variety of productions. Well I think we found it with "My entry to Lone Rabbit´s", a particularly strange creation due to the fact that it benefits from a relatively standard metal background on which is added a pure thematic delirium freejazz played by an instrument with a very strange timbre ^^ The whole offers an experience to be lived at least once, to be confronted with ... "something else". The presence of the musical score makes it possible not to get too lost in the melodic maze, which is not a luxury. The general structure of the work is also very labyrinthine, and its general plan, again, will be very useful if the listener wants to find his way around the various bends. Very daring on all points (melody, tonal system, altered chords, instrumentation, mixture of musical references, ...), this music leaves you speechless. Maybe after several listenings. Really strange for sure ^ _ ^ "

Im really glad  you liked it, i started with a Lydian melody for the "brightness" (using Melodic minor #4 for a twist) and then i just say "well, i think in a journey you are suposed to move" so in the nexts parts i started mixing all that i know about functional harmony(secondary dominants, tritone substitution) , cubedance(neo riemannian theory) and for the D part a little bit of bartok axis (the Fm7 |A |C |Dmaj7 that is apparently absolutly outside of the G# minor implied by the G#m |A7 |A#m |B at the end), always with the intent of finishing the part on a chord that was "close" to the one coming next.

What con i say about the metal memes? the only thing i can say is that im a big sucker for the actual prog/tech death scene and maybe i didnt incorporate the insane riffing of those bois, but they always use tasty harmonies and sick bass lines.

Cheers

Very progressive! I feel like it needs a break or difference in texture similar to the first 20 seconds somewhere in the middle of the track! Other than that, the track was a heap of motivation!  Awesome work! <3

Developer (1 edit) (+1)

maybe that would work on the C part, but i was too worried checking the drum patters to assure myself that i wasnt repiting  any patterns and forgot the "maybe you need to slowdown the drums",  and only slowed down in the guitar and bass parts

i dont know if doing 4/4 all the time is prog, but the harmony is doing nasty things for sure xD

Thanks for the feedback  ^_^

Developer

It metals and jazzs indeed xD
