How did you incorporate the theme and lore?
When attempting to run an experiment to look into other universes things go wrong.

You must break the system to restore things back to normal.

Also the lore was added at the end as text although I did have plans for more just couldn't get to with time constraints...

Hey! I tried playing this on stream but apparently it was just too heavy to play and stream at the same time. I did play off stream though and really loved the atmosphere you created. It felt like the movie Alien. I have played a couple games very similar in this concept in previous jams and this is definitely on par with gameplay (that's a compliment). I just wish there would have been more! The visuals were great and sound design very well done. You snuck the theme and lore into this game so well done!

"It felt like the movie Alien."... Wow! This is the best compliment I could have received for what I aimed to achieve in this jam. Thank you! I use jams to try something new and to learn; and getting the aesthetic and feel right was what I wanted for this. Thanks for such kind words.

Excellent art and audio! Really did great at setting a retro sci-fi vibe! Story reminded me of the Cloverfield series - loved it. Wish it was a little longer though...wanted to play more

Developer(+1)

Yes, The Cloverfield Paradox! That's definitely an inspiration here. Glad someone noticed!

Atmosphere and art style are gorgeous. Little light on the content department, but definitely left me wanting more!

Well done game and the art style was great!!

I liked the aesthetic and atmosphere! I think the pixelart looked really nice, although I think the character could use a little more frames of animation for the run. With the right arm going forward, to his side, and forward again it looked more like half a run cycle. The hiding mechanic I thought worked well, although once I died to the enemy because I came out of my hiding spot a little too early even though I thought they were fully past me. I'd say generally it's a good idea to make enemy hitboxes a little smaller than the actual sprite to give the player more of a chance. All in all great job, and it'd be cool to see the story of this fleshed out into a completed project!

Really cool atmosphere. I had problems to understand the hide mechanic tho, the W prompt was affected by the lighting that was very dark there, so mostly invisible, so it took me a while to understand I could do that, maybe just making the W prompt brighter would fix the issue.

Cool audio and mood, I really enjoyed the atmosphere of the game.

Developer

Thanks for the feedback. I guess I didn't really think about how clear the prompts were visually in the rush to get something playable. It's good to learn that though so I can look out for it in the future.

Sound and looks are great.

Man I wasn't expecting it to be so short. I'm guessing you ran out of time. Look forward to seeing more. The movement felt very fluid and art style was top notch.

Developer

Yeah, unfortunately I ran out of time. I had planned on doing 4 floors but didn't even get what I wanted added to the first one. Unfortunate but I've learned a lot about managing my time and on what features to focus on that I'll take to the next game jam I do.

The game looks and sounds amazing. It was short but it has a lot of potential!

A note: Inside the browser it was really big, even at fullscreen some parts were cut off in the bottom of the screen.

Looks and sounds great! A little hard to see the 'W' UI to hide in the nook. Overall I can definitely see this game becoming a great adventure if there was more too it

Thanks for making this game! The art and sound in this was incredible for a week long jam. The game is such a tease with how short it was in gameplay as I wanted to play more and enjoy the visuals and audios a little longer. The mechanics were also very basic and when it came to getting hit, I had instances of being frozen or stuck sliding like I own the place lol. Overall Epic visuals, just need a little more gameplay to back this bad boy up.

Very very short, wish it was longer. But the aesthetic was amazing!

Hello! The browser window was very very large, so a note to future players would be to zoom out a few steps if using a smaller screen. :)

I would've appreciated a restart button or some sort of respawn when Alex was killed, as of now, you had to do a page update and restart the game, or at least that's the solution I came up with. :)

I had to restart quite a few times before I noticed the prompt to hide, but I got to the end after a few tries.

It was very short though. ;) But nice job! Did you make the art?
