I felt so pro till the third/fourth ring and then had come crashing down... literally xD  That is a really unique concept tough :)

What goes up most come down is what they say :D

Thanks for playing!

It was very unintuitive for me, but watching someone else stream it let me know it was very possible. I would love to be able to gracefully fly a bird.

Your mech is amazing, and I never would have expected it.

Developer

It takes a little while to get the hang of it :)

Thanks for playing!

Neat idea, but it feels pretty difficult to play. I felt like I was struggling against the physics, sometimes the wings wouldn't flap when I wanted them to either which didn't feel very good.

However, I do think this could become something if the feel of the game's controls was improved. Good job on releasing!

Developer

Yea, people not getting the hang of the controls fast enough was a worry of mine. They will need some tweaking for sure.

But your wings not flapping issue is probably due to lack of energy (the bar at the bottom of the screen). I added that last minute to force players to also do some gliding instead of spamming Q/E flap s to go fast.

Thanks for the feedback :)

Fun bird simulator with quite unique mechanics.

The concept itself is really interesting and i like how you made most of the control trying to simulate wings flapping to replicate actual bird flight.

The main issue i had was that while the controls are unique and interesting, i had a really hard time to get the hang of it, cause i didn't really get what the 3 different types of flapping did, i was able to flap a bit and glided most of the time cause sometimes when i flapped again the birds mech went nuts and moved unpredictably so i think it's probably cause i didn't used the right flap type in some moments.

While the controls were explained through text, i feel it'd benefit the game a lot to have some sort of tutorial to help understand how the mechanics fully work and what type of flap to use when.

With that said the game feel on the flight itself is pretty cool, and visually i like the frame's design that's around the bird ^^

Interesting to see where you might take this concept, not a lot of mecha bird dogfight sims out there that's for sure :p

Well done :)

I did want to add a tutorial to explain the controls better, as people not getting the hang of it fast enough for a jam game really was a concern. But I would have need more time for that. The controls them self also need some work, the mech going nuts is usually explained by  the releasing there being a small delay between left and right button release. The diagonal backwards (Q/E) flap is more prone to "flipping out"" due to this. I should be able to solve this by creating a small grace time window,  if both keys are released within it, then the wings will flap 100% synced. I might also make some bigger overhaul to how the controls work.

Thanks for your feedback :)

No worries, time is always super short for jams so it's really hard to have all features working as intended in this context, perfectly understandable :)

But oh i see, that explains the random freakouts :o well i'm sure fixed with the synch working as it should this would improve the feel of the controls, regardless i get what the intent was with this and in my book you succeded on that front.

I love its relaxing atmosphere and detailed animations. Very fun to play with. Nice work!

Thank you! :)

Very fun. I really like the bird mech, and the animations are very satisfying.

Developer

Glad you liked it :)

Suuuper original game! Such a great idea too, very difficult until you get the hang of it. The camera shaking a lot can be a bit rough on the motion sickness, but i’m sure that’s something you could work around

Developer

Thanks!

Yea, the camera needs a lot of work. Did try I few different things that did not really work,  but it high on my priority list for further development :)

Very cool! Took me a bit to get the hand of the controls, but once I did it felt awesome to soar around and fly through those rings. Super smooth animations, and with a few tweaks to polish up controls and physics would make this an awesome quirky flight sim! I'm very excited to see the game when there are things to shoot at.

The future of adrenaline filled bird mech dogfights is hopefully not that far away! :D

The best kind of dog fight XD I look forward to it!

luckily... the bird is safe in that thing, cause I managed to crash alot...  .Well atleast in the beginning after i got the hang of it :D Animations are super smooth and it feels great to fly around!

Safety is always my number one concern when designing new mechs :)

I need more of this!

Seriously, played it for an hour it's super fun

My current high score on the full 21 checkpoint course.

This makes me very happy! :) I think my time was around the same iirc. More is likely coming as I think I'll keep working on this :)

Reminds me of a game called "Volo Airsport", when I played that game I wished there were more like it and you've made that dream come true!

Developer

Never heard about that game. Looks cool do, I do like unconventional flight sims :D

Genius game design! It looked beautiful on my curved screen too.

Love the idea, its like the bird is learning how to fly all over again.  It was a healthy amount of difficulty  learning how to maintain control of the flight.  There's also something satisfying about having the flap down mapped to the button release.  My intuition would say it would be typically the opposite, as in the flap down is triggered when the button is pressed down, but actually I like this control setup better.   Great job!  This one was very fun and fluid to play!

Developer

Thanks! I'm glad you liked it :) I was worried people would find it to hard to get the hang of the controls as I did not have time to explain them thoroughly enough. The controls and physics also need quite a few tweaks.
