I think you might of tried openong the key door shich gives you the mesaage you need to find a key! If you keep looking its somewhere 😊 Or its glitched 😅🤣 maybe that haha

Thank you for playing and please give it another chance after I do a update patch haha

Really got some Persona 1 (PSP Version) vibes there :D  I wish there was some more in game tutorials for the attacks like others have said and the level is a bit empty! The atmosphere and graphics are nice though and the combat is solid (Once you check the game page haha!)

Anyway really good work :)

Thank you for playing 😊 Yeah divisive is deffinately most people's take away (or flat out hate 🤣).

The game does go past the portrait! Your missing some of the most gross stuff in the game xD Just when clicking through try to go slow, there is a bug I have not been able to hot fix yet when the menus close sometime 😶

Was a good little game! Has a very solid foundation just wish there was a little more to it maybe! Anyway good work :)

Oh really nice work! The movement system was really well done. Someone else said the vertically doesn't add much but I thought it was a really good addition, made the exploring more fun!

I noticed you were trying to give it a little bit of edge or crass to it like I did with my own project but I felt yours was too little (While most think mine was too whole hog).

I think I shared some of the same complaints as other people though;

  • Too many items (It's not cleaning up a mess if I am required to drop items when I run out of inventory space and create more mess xD )
  • Ghost girl "Dirt" hint is not really a good hint at all
  • When going down the well it places you at the rooms other entry not the ladder

Anyway really good game, good work :)

Felt like a old Sierra game with the amount of times I died early on xD I liked the look of the game but seemed really hard to come to grip with how too actually play it. Any progress I made felt like it was by accident rather than me figuring something out!

The visuals were really unique! Correct me if I am wrong but are they pop art inspired? I liked the game and thought the movement was good just the actual rock paper scissors seemed a little broken, was quite sure if it was random or if the top shows what move the enemy is planning to make?

Anyway good work :)

Thank you for playing! 😁 Crass and filth was the name of the game for this one for me so there was no plan for nuance and subtlety beyond making it fit in the SFW criteria. I knew this would be polarising but ive never really made anything this deranged so wanted to give it a shot! Game Jams are a wonderful place to try and experiment with different things haha! Anyway thanks again 😊

Thank you so much for playing, really appreciate the feed back 😊 Im on the same page I like to see jams that try something different (and like to try and do different stuff myself haha) .

I found out this method after the jam ended xD  Gives perfect 90 degree turns! Just make sure on the character Use Controller Rotation Yaw is turned on!  (If you don't set the values before the timeline starts it and the Lerp freak out)

Yes, vile and crass on purpose haha! Wanted to see how far I could take it in the "sfw" limit for fun 🤣

That is a very interesting running joke for your work 🤣 Is there a interestingnstory to how it started? And thank you for playing and the review!

Oh awesome another Unreal Engine game! :D  (There is three of us now! )  First time for me doing a Dungeon Crawler too!

Im guessing the turning not being lerped is because of the weird offset unreal adds to the rotations right?

The art style is really cool and the combat was functional. Good work! :)

Very pretty looking game but I found the movement a bit slow, really noticed it during the back tracking! The elemental dragons were a nice touch but I wish you could carry multiple items so you could switch between swords when needed! (Accidentally overwrite my ice sword which I wish I kept for the level 2 stone dragons).

Really good work :)

Solid foundation, just wish there was more to it! Good work though :)

Your not the only person that did not heed the three warnings 🤣

"Something" is a good way to describe it 🤣

I have never done a turn based/random encounters system before or a level/experience one for that matter and when the deadline loomed I decided just to try and make a simple system 😅

Thank you for playing 😊

Very colourful and pretty game! Just noticed death is not implemented for the player xD I found it a bit hard to navigate back to the potion area though!

Really good work though :)

Oh cool another Unreal user for this Jam!  :D I noticed your movement breaks though when rotating at random times (I got really badly offset in the room on the second level you fight the girl!). I had the same issue in my project, whenever you Lerp it to rotate unreal does a weird conversion and adds a offset to the value so can't get perfect 90 degree turns sadly :/ I ended up going doing just instant rotations no lerp to avoid it (But the game I was imitating was that way anyway). Let me know if you all manage to find a fix please!

But back to the game chat xD  I was a bit unsure of how the combat worked but the environment was neat and the voice over was do die for (In a good way haha). God work on being one of the more unique jams :)

Like everyone else is saying... At first the camera angle throws you but then you realise why it's like that and then all good xD I had a issue at first thinking it was broken due to missing icons but then just realised that it needed to be full screen!

My only recommendation would be that for the last spot maybe you should of cleaned up the hero himself xD

Anyway, really good work!  :)

Ah okay cool I'll make the passages less of a pain then haha!

Really well done :D I played it a few times (Died a bunch) but really enjoyed it! It's definitely the better of the card games I have played so far in this jam! Shame the ending is cut so short though :/ Really good effort for your team though and I hope after the jam there is a bit more content/polish added! Would happily play it again!

Issues:

  • Glitch near windows where the couch is I got stuck between the two tiles next to the window and could not move
  • The barrage with the starter pistol seems to be the most useful attack option even after getting the other weapons. Less incentive to use the other items.
  • Enemies can sometimes wipe you out in one go and no checkpoints really hurts with this.
  • Glitch where sometime you have to hold right click to interact with things in the battle mode

Really well done and a very unique idea for a dungeon crawler! I have to wonder if the Louvre gets shitty whenever there is a game based on breaking into it xD I noticed for the Louvre level you tried to match up the real life location for the heist in game too pretty well! Really good effort and was fun but I will give a few critiques!

  • If your going to need nearly all the money in a level to progress maybe make a not on the map for each level like "I think I found everything (Or Not)!".
  • I wasn't sure where to exit in the Louvre level (Thought it might be the blue particle ring things or something) and got game over. This reset the game right to the start! Maybe just make it reset the level because it can be a bit of a pain doing the same stuff you have already accomplished again!

Overall though really good work :)

So originally Darius is a DND character in a group I play with 🤣 He's pure evil and there to spice things up in weird ways haha! I think every game jam ive done my characters are always "good" so just wanted to try and have the polar opposite! I've followed wandering depths advice and started to fix up the camera perspective! (Thankfully it's 3D so not too hard to fix).

Thank you for playing even though it's gross! 🤣

No no not horrible on purpose (I think it sounds rather good) but just short 30 second loops! I didn't ask Evilwizard to help out until a few days before the end and didn't want to kill him in such a short time frame so I asked for just shorter loops! (Prefer not to use ai in general if I can  get a person to do it but I cant do pixel art myself but music I knkw some really good people so csn avoid ai music at least!)

I do understand the 30 second loops can bring back childhood trauma of Haloween Town in Kongdom Hearts 1 though sorry 🤣

Compass i wanted to do more with but time constraints! I wanted to decorate the underground a bit better to help guide the player but Yeppoon..  my bad 😅 There is actually a small lighting hue change though for each pathway. Blue hue to go from graves to exit and green from exit to knife and purple ( I think ..) from exit to sledgehammer.

Thank you so much for playing and I hope you never have to poop so much again 🤣

Im glad you had fun and thank you for playing! 😁 Feel like being successful at being vile is the same at being successful for taking the biggest shit but that was the intention 🤣 I think i said in another comment I wanted more of showing Ich'ael is a prick with like notes and portraits around but time constraints (basically had a new baby born to take care of during this jam haha ). I dont actually know anyone that does pixel art and ai think I might of made them hate me with some of this needed art 🤣 But wish I could of found one! I did try to make the ai stuff a little original though, all the statues and portraits of ich'ael are actually based on photos of my cousin, the ghost is photos of me and the female statues (minis the angel) are generated from pics of one of my friends!

Anyway thanks so much again!

I also could not go through the door despite mashing enter, but! I did manage to clip through the level and break the grid movement haha!  xD  Hope you can patch it up a bit!

Thank you I'll take a look!

Oh when the ghost talks to you or a battle ?

Thanks for playing 😊 Yeah ive heard that final encounter is a little glitched...I need to figure out whats happening 😅

Thank you for playing! 😊 by controller you mean a actual game pad or something? I didnt even program that in I think 😅

Please let me know when you release it!

Oh thank you ill sort that bug out later today with the ending triggering by accident!

Thank you for playing it! Hope you enjoyed it 🤣 But yes that content warning is deffinately not a understatement! Basically my goal was to make something vile but "SFW". So yay it grossed you out 🤣

Anyway thanks again!

"That does not mean it has to be mature".  I think this at the start summed up the game pretty well and is a good warning 🤣 And thank you for the nice warm up to start with but I went into this knowing this would be a vile divisive game! 😁 so you dont have to be so nice 😅 For my game jams I always try to do something different or experiment in a different area or to try and learn something. I also never have done a main character that was such a lowly piece of trash so I just really wanted to push that. But also its a bit of a juggling act with what the character does.. if there isnt a juvenile side to it then it can get a little too serious or potentially close to home for some. So keeping it dumb was the plan!

So basically I have a two week newborn and my partner was in the hospital for seizures and coma for a week. That deffinately cut into my jam time but okay so a few points 🤣 (shes out now and recovering thankfully 😊)

  • The menu (i forgot thank you) is a generic one I have. I use Unreal 4 and have a generic build I made for jams that has a few quality of life stuff that I dont want to have to re do every jam (menus, music player, cutscene player etc)
  • Your suggestion for the pee meter is exactly what was planned but.. time
  • I actually was going to move the camera back to behind like you recommended but I didn't have enough time to tweak the graphics filters and such so left it as is!
  • I did actually want a exp system and more stats based combat! I've never done it before though and time (the typical culprit). The RND would of taken me too log and ... not too great with math 😅
  • I wanted to have portraits and scrolls of lore dump around the place to teach more about Ich'ael but.. you can guess what I will say...  But Darius Vol is a friend's character in our DND (yes hes juat as messed up in the dnd campaign)  so he already have his whole background to work with.

Anyway thanks for the big response even though you did not like the game. I really appreciate the feed back and I'll implement some of your suggestions for a post jam uodate 😊 ... the story is staying crass and juvenile though sorry 🤣

I only had the die fail on the final roll xD  I quite liked the game but holy **** that dizzy feature was annoying! Other than that one miserable pain in the ass good work! :D

Look to an old game called Dungeon Keeper for some inspiration :) It's a little similar to your idea!

Really good on the presentation front and amusing! Glad my game is not the only one with awkward penetration being a part of the plot xD The card fight sections controls need a bit of work, even some instructions would be good! Was never quite sure what I was doing. Good work though guys :)

The presentation for this one is really top notch! Loved the little pre 2000 details like clippy! Good nostalgia trip thank you :D

The presentation is insanely good on this jam congrats :D I found finding the objectives was a bit hard though... Even if I went to the area shown on the map it still felt like I was wondering around aimlessly trying to find what would trigger the next event. Some markers on the map would help or better in game visual cues where to go! (Saying reactor a or whatever it was when there is reactor rooms east and west does not help too much xD )

Really good effort :)

There seems to be a bug where the enemies do not appear when you trigger combat (Just see the fight and command buttons but not the characters... When you click on fight the buttons disappear then nothing)! Is there anything I might be missing?

It's a really good idea but feels like it needed some more time in the oven! Really hope you fix it up a bit more :)

I was not sure what to do! It seemed like the grid movement was a bit unreliable too (When I would try to move sometimes it would go really far other times really short). Hope this gets patched a bit!
