Nice take on the theme. Fun gameloop in its simplicity. Graphics and animations are very fun to watch.

Very fun and addicting, really liked the polish put on the simple loop

Submitted(+1)

Very simple but polished gameplay loop. Somehow smashing their little ore faces was satisfying haha. Well done!

Submitted(+1)

This is absolutely crazy polished, I love it. The graphics are just a pleasure to see, amazing color palette. Gameplay was simple but satisfying, the only critic I can give you is that I couldn't tell when I was actually hitting an enemy or missing them too much. Still incredible job on the game, love all the little effects, it really makes it pop so much more

Developer(+1)

i assumed knockback was enough, but i quickly realized after the jam that a hitflash would've helped alot (i don't know why I didn't tbh, i had one in the game already for the player)

Submitted(+1)

Simple yet well done! I love the art style, the gameplay is simple yet fun, little juicing and polish really carries this a long way. Nice job!

Fantastic jam sandwich, this one.  Love the art, absolutely adorable, and I love how the hammer visuals change to reflect upgrades.  Only complaint is the music, it started to griiiind on me after a few minutes lol.  Great game, one of the better ones I've played so far!

Developer

my headset died at the most inconvenient time, like an hour or so before the jam when i was actually making the music lol, otherwise i wouldve made a more proper song loop

Submitted(+1)

Even in spite of the music not being what it could have been, the rest of the experience was awesome.  Kudos to you!

Submitted(+1)

Really cool graphics and music. Gameplay is really cool and polished, and the gold nuggets are super cute. I wished the game would pause when choosing an upgarde as I felt like loosing time when reading them but great game overall !

Submitted(+1)

YES MICHDEV! This is my favorite game of the jam so far! So simple, so polished, infinite fun. Loved how you personified all the little ores too... i loved to HIT THEM lol. Thanks for the fun!

Submitted(+1)

Love the polish, you did great on this. I ended up basically having to throw my run at one point tho because of the pain in my mouse hand from repeated clicking, would be nice to have a mode where if you hold the button it repeatedly clicks rather that having to press every single time. Audio and visuals are insanely good and you nailed the theme tho!

Developer(+1)

i did give pressing space as an option, but because i forgot to disable godot's focus system it will bug if you press refresh at all

Submitted(+1)

Ah okay! Thanks for the reply. Good luck in the jam! Definitely one of the best games I played, I'm just getting older and my wrists aren't near as good for gaming as they used to be! 💛

Developer

noticed a similar thing when my dad playtested, he avoided alot of the upgrades that let you click faster for the same reason

Nice! Very polished, and I like the retro sounds. It would be nice to have an option to turn down some of the visual effects as they  might give some people motion sickness.

Developer(+1)

oh didn't think about that sorry; will keep that in mind in the future

Developer(+1)

to clarify, i assume this is the camera movement and UI tweening?

(+1)

yup!

Submitted(+1)

super fun! easy to get into and love animations and artstyle! so polished 0^0

Great polish a very complete project and loved art on this project :) I felt sometimes it was unclear if I was hitting the ores or not, maybe a hit effect would be good e.g white flash? Do they have varied amounts of health?

Developer

they gain a small amount of health each time you get a gadget

Submitted(+1)

Ah that makes sense why it felt originally like it was hitting more, thanks for clarifying :)

I loved the animation and art direction this game had and how polished everything felt. The only thing I felt it actually lacked was more unique upgrades instead of different stat bonuses, but I am seriously puzzled how you were able to get this level of polish during the game jam's duration without dying :D

Developer(+1)

alot of crunch at the end, but i also tried to make everything i wrote very reusable, all the enemies are basically the brass but with their own components added on, and its a similar situation with the upgrade resource, technically they can be overridden but i didnt get far enough to make anything like that

Submitted(+2)

Fun game with some nice visual effects, the music gets a bit repetitive.

Submitted(+1)

Incredible polish for a game jam game. Great core concept, good feedback loop.
Love the attention to all the details (especially filtering the music on pause <3) Would love to see more work of you!

Really unique and creative roguelike style game! It was really satisfying smashing the ore, and the introduction of multiple enemy types was surprising and made the game 10x more interesting. I love all of the upgrade types. The only one that seemed to not be very helpful was the knockback one. I'd almost rather it be the opposite, where you start with major knockback and can upgrade to make it more precise so you can rapid-fire an ore without it skittering away from you and making you have to chase it. I could see the knockback being useful for some of the enemies perhaps. The music felt a little repetitive after a while too, but the sound fx were perfect, and I liked the vibe of the music overall just a little bit on the short side for a loop.

Really had a fun time with this! Love all of the visuals, the particle effects were really beautiful. The charge-up for the projectile enemy ember was super cool — a lot of the details were subtle but just designed so well! Amazing work! :)

Developer(+1)

the loop was gonna be longer, but when making it my headset died so i lost an hour to let them charge, do agree though if i could've made it longer i would've

Developer(+1)

also the magnet upgrade will also reduce knockback since you mentioned it, i found one is more useful while another is more fun to watch, so i added both as an option

Submitted(+1)

The parallax effect on the menu is a very nice touch, the game in general feels like a more interactive cookie clicker. I really enjoy this. Maybe allowing clicking on the entire upgrade card to purchase rather than a buy button to speed up the pace/accessibility. Overall wonderful work!

Developer (1 edit)

something along the lines of metal clicker was one idea for the game name i had at one point

Submitted(+1)

Simple to pick up and super polished. Nice job!

The only thing, that wasn't too much of an issue, would be knowing exactly where the hammer is going to hit. But regardless you get a feel for it after a while and perhaps that's better.

Ok but this is an INSANE amount of polish. Great entry !

Edit : I ended up with a score of 17 ! Enemy design is awesome, I love that you made enemies that reacts to being hit so you can't just spam without thinking.

Submitted(+1)

Great implementation of the theme! I can't really fault you on anything :) Not my type of game but I had fun none-the-less. Well done!
