Game Description
2D platformer, inspired by the escape sequences in Metroid games.
How does your game tie into the theme?
Pushing the big red button was a bad idea! Escape before it's too late!!

Not the most original interpretation of the theme, but expertly polished! The minimal art style works great, and the soundtrack is a real banger. Controls are fine as well, although I agree with other reviewers here that the jump felt a little floaty and made it quite hard to properly land on some platforms for me. In terms of level design, I would have loved some more shortcuts (maybe only available after you shoot certain wall tiles) to increase the replay value, but well, time was ticking... Curious where you will take this with the post-jam release. :)
thank you! the post-jam update is out, enjoy!
Great visual style and music. Definitely felt the Metroid inspiration throughout. The play button turning into a self-destruct button was a wonderful touch.
The movement feels solid as well but could probably use some minor tweaks. But even without any tweaks, I think this would have been a lot of fun even with just a few types of simple enemies.
Great job!
Race to the finish vibes. Great game.
Air movement wasn't as tight as I was expecting, but not necessarily a bad thing.
I like the aesthetic. Is the main character inspired by the Void Fiend from Risk of Rain 2?
I found the jumping momentum a bit hard to wield. I kept missing platforms.
Good job! The artstyle and the audio are captivating. The gameplay feels very good, but I wished that there were some enemies to shoot at. Also the menu questioning the player with the red buttons was a nice touch. Nice entry, congrats!
The menu asking wasn't espected at all. Nice responsive platformer mechanics. Nice sound, Good music piece and really cohesive art.
Wish for a longer version. It has charisma.
Good work!
thanks. your wish has come true, check out the new update!
Awesome! I love the title and the actual red button push in the start of the game.
I found it just a bit too easy, but maybe that's for the best since it is a jam game that people are gonna play and rate.
Honestly, not finding much to give feedback on here. The artstyle is cool; the vibe is perfect; the game is fun! Excellent work.
I love the game concept! The art was done well and very cohesive. All of the game mechanics were very smooth. Level design was pretty solid.
Would’ve love to see some enemies or something to act as an obstructions.
Appreciate the feedback! Unfortunately we ran out of time with the enemies. Check back after the voting period as we are going to update the game!
Short but sweet. I loved the art style, and the metroidvania style minimap, the nod to Samus. Controls felt nice too. Was really fun! Great entry. :)
This plays sooo smooth, well done! The wall gliding and jump was especially nice. Looking forward to an updated version
thanks! the update is out now!
Nice game, the player animations are really smooth.
Was I supposed to use the gun somewhere?
We have an enemies to shoot at, but unfortunately we ran out of time getting them into the game. Check back after the voting period as we're going to update the game. Thank you for the feedback!
Oh man I love this monochromatic style, really goes along well with the music, which by the way, banger?? is it available anywhere? Nice little Metroid homage :)
The only thing I felt was a bit off was the jump trajectory, it felt a bit weird at times, which made it harder to land on some surfaces.
I can post the music to YouTube if you'd like? :)
yes, do it! we can also upload it to the itch.io page after voting ends, so people can download it directly.
This is a nice and simple game! The music, art, and platforming feel were awesome and had great direction. The music especially is pretty nice, and the wall slide and platforming controller felt great as well. Only critique is that the concept felt a bit generic, but it was also really polished so great job! I also love your title haha
thanks for the kind words, and that’s a fair critique. the title is my favorite part!
A really great visual style! The jumping felt a little bit wonky with the keyboard but I managed to escape with 3 minutes remaining. Smooth and fast gameplay. I’d be curious to see what this looks like with enemies in it.
thanks for the feedback! the game has been updated, let me know what you think about the new jump physics. and there are enemies now!
what a lovely game, i loved the controls and how the movement felt, i had fun playin
Nailed it. My least favourite level in Metroid games, but I won't hold that against you. Clean animations and audio sync. Had a good laugh at "nothing to shoot at, sorry".
Nice one
Jumps felt a little floaty but the art style was on point. The title screen being the start of the game was cool too
Fun quick escape game! Loved the reference to metroid down to the level design (I saw the wall jump opportunity to skip a whole section at the start and I took it :D )
I do notice that there's a gun, but nothing to shoot at? I'm guessing it will be coming up in the next version!
I hope to see the updated version soon!
thank you!
we didn’t have time to add anything to shoot at, but we’ll add that for the post-jam update. it should be out by the end of this week.
the update is out, let me know what you think!
Cool game. I feel baited, where's the ship lol. Also why does it not work for firefox :(
thanks!
the problem with Firefox is related to GDExtensions and Emscripten. there's an open PR that seems to solve it, but we didn't have time to try it for ourselves. at least a solution is on the horizon, let's just hope it gets merged in soon. (the GDExtension we used is godot-rust/gdext, as our other programmer really likes Rust.)
