Really interesting concept. Just needs a bit more cooking time.
haha yes definitely more cooking time. Thank you for playing :)
I like the game concept. The cutscenes and story was pretty good. I enjoyed the magic combination system.
I do feel like a lot of improvements could be made. But for your first jam, this is amazing work. Great job.
Thank you for playing and the feedback. It goes a long way.
Had a mini heart attack when the first group of guards started chasing me lol. The spell switching adds a nice layer of complexity, and my only critique is that the controls for switching spells felt a little too sensitive so it was hard to get the combination I was looking for. With some more time to expand on the concept and work out the kinks I'm sure you'll be able to come up with some really interesting gameplay. Cover art is off the chain.
hahaha that is hilarious and awesome feedback. Thank you so much for playing :)
Matching your enemies' spells is a pretty original concept! There's definitely potential for a full release here. The story was also quite enjoyable lol. My main concern is about giving the player feedback when damaging enemies or getting damaged by them, I think it would elevate the quality by quite a bit! Nice entry
Thanks so much for playing and the awesome feedback.
controls are a little clunky but it's a cool concept having to match spells to the enemies. Nice entry!
Thank you for playing :) Yeah I saw there are times we it switches too quickly, I could potentially add a small timer on it. Awesome feedback
This was a really fun game! Switching the spells on the fly was fun. Also the betrayal at the end :( Awesome pixel art as well! I enjoyed the music, the boss music had a chill hiphop beat feel to it haha good work!
Thank you for playing. My brother has the craziest beats haha
Had to run this on Linux using wine, but it seemed to work fine.
The spell system was interesting, but definitely took me a minute to understand. I was also confused because it said I couldn’t use any spells but I was able to use the white one. Partially because of that, I don’t know if got started the right way but I sort of just brute forced myself in.
Regardless, once I got into the main part it really came together. I really liked the golem melting animations and the art for the ending was cool (same with the cover image).
Nice job!
Thank you for playing and the awesome feedback. Im glad you got it working. I am still new to the exporting but will figure it all out.
Oh, actually, not to pile on, because this is fairly minor, but I wanted to also call out that the UI for your current spells and health captured clicks and prevented firing the spells, so if there was an enemy below me, I often had to try harder to actually hit them. I would say either putting that in a corner, or just making sure that the clicks still work would have been nice. Just wanted to throw that out there!
That is so cool of you. Thank you for that. I am going to have another round of polish and I will definitely take this in.
I had a great time playing this game. Really loved the idea of having to get the correct color combos to beat the various enemies and bosses. I liked the little story throughout and was blown away by the pixel art end screen. Very nice job!
What a legend, thank you for playing :)
This was fun! I really like the art and music. It took me a moment to realize what I was supposed to do, but once I did, I enjoyed the idea of combining elements to attack enemies. I think it would be fun to maybe utilize the left and right mouse buttons to use the two different spell slots.
The collision with enemies felt a little unforgiving and I found I typically had to run away while shooting to defeat them.
Great work!
Thanks so much for taking the time to play it. I am glad you enjoyed it and appreciate the feedback <3
I really like the idea of switching spells on the fly to damage different enemies. The progressively harder repeated boss fight was cool, too.
I think you could have gotten a little more out of spell switching by placing the player in situations where they need to switch more often (like an arena with several enemies rather than hallways). An extra ranged enemy would have added to this as well, since there would be a reason to prioritise defeating one enemy first.
The intro confused me a little bit. I thought I couldn't damage anything with the white spell and needed to run past the enemies to find the charms first (maybe just clarify that you need to match the colour, so it becomes more obvious).
Overall, I had fun, though, and played through to the end :)
Edit: I just realised how similar the names of our games are!
Thank you for the feedback, some really good ideas. Haha when I saw our names I had a laugh. Great minds <3
