Amazing job on the art and music but the platformer control felt a bit weird to me, not sure if it was intended

Really well animated and neat music, good job!

I don't have much to add, other comments have done a better job at describing the stuff

Very nice work. Didn't expect to see a full roguelike game loop in a jam like this. Look and sound is amazing, trying out all the different parts is very fun too. I think the big thing that needs work here is making the jumping physics feel more natural. The player's weight just feels off, and sometimes you drop to the ground a lot faster than you should. The double jump shoes also don't seem to work 100% of the time.

very fun to assemble the spirit before the run. it was fun to try out different builds! lots of nice little touches, like the background parallax. this could easily be expanded on and be a really fun full game!

This game was amazing! I found it hard to maneuver at times, but overall it was great! The style and pixel art is superb!

I like the hollow knight like art style!

Wow, very nice look and feel. I like it how the music speeds up towards the end of a run!

I think the sounds overall maybe didn't fit the look of the game. Two different moods/atmospheres.

The controls were very good, although some of the platforms were super tiny!

I'm not very good at this type of games, so I didn't get very far, but it feels like there was some depth to it! The assembly part also looked promising, and adding some depth too.

Strong submission! Well done everybody!

Great pixel art!

Lots to like about this entry! Precision platforming could use some tuning but otherwise a lot of fun, good-looking and good-sounding game.

Developer

Thanks

Amazing art, triple parallax background created an awesome effect. I liked the "strong gravity" effect, I think it increases the tension on jumping, as you fall so fast, with many sections of the map you cant see the ground, its a bit scary to jump :P

Developer

Thank you.

Like I said, what I think is missing is a bit of inertia so that you have a bit of a parabola when you fall. It got taken out of the code by accident.

The fear of falling is better now that we have checkpoints and its not an insta death! haha

Really neat game idea, I really enjoyed the art style and the animation of your character coming together. Some of the controls could have been a bit tighter, but overall a really solid entry.

Developer

Thanks!

Very nice graphics and style.

Love the colors and background are awesome.

I felt gravity is bit overloaded for the hero though.

Cool game though!

Developer (1 edit)

We were looking at the gravity also, but I don't think it's the gravity. During refactoring we took away inertia by mistake, which means that when you stop pressing a direction, you immediately stop moving horizontally. This means that you go off a platform and your fall is vertical, not a much of a parabola. I think this gives the idea of gravity being even stronger.

Still, gravity is strong, usually that is what you need not to get a floaty jump. I used a famous GDC talk as reference. The idea is that you don't define gravity, you define how high and how long (in seconds) you want your jump to be. Gravity a Vy0 is computed to achieve those characteristics.

Sorry for the long discourse. We were actually looking at this after the jam to figure it out and these were our conclusions. In a new version, with proper inertia, the air movement feels much nicer.

Thanks for the feedback :)

Thanks for the detailed explanation! Good to know the details.

Will definitely check the updated version!

Wow! So much packed into a week long jam! Really well done team! :D Great job.

Pretty polished game. I liked the graphics and esp. the background was very nice! It was fun to play and also challenging enough. good different mechanics. Good Job!!!

Developer

Thank you! "Polished" is a big word. It has a bit too many little bugs for that I think, but it's a jam :) Still, we did overreached a bit in terms of scope, so I'm happy we got it done.

I wish if there was a difficulty setting other than that nothing is missing perfect in terms of art, controls and replayability, well done

Developer(+1)

Yes, I thought about that, but I think the biggest difficulty is the levels themselves, so I think we would have to divide the levels between easy and hard sections, so we make easier or harder levels, and we just didn't have time. But yeah, the game is a bit unforgiving! Especially this well with spikes on both sides and tiny platforms to go up, especially with spikes at the bottom haha. We had different people doing the different sections of the level and we didn't have time to do proper level balancing at the end.

Thanks for the feedback :)

The art is so pretty, the music was perfect, the controls feel good, the levels were a bit too difficult for me! It is amazing that you created this in just 10 days!

Developer

Thank you. We delivered 15 secs before the (original) deadline, so it was tight. We couldn't integrate all the parts we had. Managing scope is always a challenge.

Developer

thankyou, was in charge of character art and all the tem did amazingly, im glad you liked it!

pretty neat game! idk how to dash though I spam press shift and all, i might just be dumb

Developer (1 edit)

Thanks. You can only dash if you have the dash boots :)

It was very cool to see new levels while playing! It's a great looking and simple platformer and a good effort for the jam. The animations and hitboxes feel very night and unambiguous. It's clear there was a lot of care and thought put into this.

Keep making games!

Wow, amazing art!

Developer

Thank you. And one of our artists isn't even experienced in pixel art, yet she did most of the timeset elements. I was also impressed how many different parts our character artist manage to pump out considering all the animations we needed.

Really great work, love the use of the theme. Artwork is obviously really stunning and I love the idea of random level generation. Movement is a bit jittery, could probably use some friction and a bit of fine tuning. All in all, very well done!

Developer

Thank you. When I refactored I took away the friction by mistake :(
