Interesting game!
I think it could become great if there were multiple floors and more kind of tiles.

It is a really nice game with cool premise! A shame to see it at the bottom of rated games, you should've added some screenshots!!

Balance is pretty random but at least it is quick to restart. Also hero returning to the very beginning when facing dead end (if player is too slow to place next room) is a bit annoying. Art is simple but quite nice and easily readable, I like it.

nice game.

Thanks, I appreciate your nice comment!

I liked it, and has a lot of potential. I'm sure you are already thinking on new types of room and events.

Maybe the way the hero finds the right path needs a bit of tunning. It is fun to see him get lost and come back to the first rooms, as he looks stupid, but at some point you want to kill him.

Developer

Thanks for your nice comment., I also feel it has lots of potential ... so keep your eyes peeled for this game ^^

And yes, I have a couple of ideas for other rooms and stuff to encounter in the dungeon. It was my intention to have the hero prioritize the unvisited-rooms, because it was fun that the direction was random - but it got a bit tedious to see him walk the same rooms over and over again ... until in the end he would finally walk the 'new' path towards the exit. So yeah, that is on the plan to get refined and adjusted.

Brilliant idea, loved it!

  • great controls,
  • easy to understand gameplay loop
  • variety with randomness
  • beautiful, minimalistic pixel art

Really nothing bad I can say about it, congrats on the entry! ^_^

Neat idea, great execution. I was missing sound and music a bit.

Thanks for the lovely comment. Glad you enjoyed it.

SFX and music was on the schedule, but fell off due to time. I also miss them :(

I really liked this game! I can see a solid concept with plenty of room to grow. You could either turn this into a puzzle game by making the levels not random, or push it to more of a sim game by keeping it random and adding more systems to interact.

I wasn't sure how the hero was going to react, so some indication of what he's thinking would be nice. Maybe he has moods that means he's looking for certain things. A mood emote could pop up that basically says "Hey, I wanna kill a monster" or "I'm hurt, looking for health!"

Developer

Thanks, really nice to hear people like the concept. I also really enjoyed my time when debugging / testing my game.

I agree that there is a lot room to grow (no pun intended). I dabbled with the puzzle-idea, but I enjoy the idea of random rooms better. But balancing them is a bit harder, for sure.

The hero-intention is now very simple: he choses randomly between the available doors (except the door he just came through) ... and if there are no other options, he will backtrack through the door he just came through. But it's all random now. I wanted to make it that the hero would prefer an unvisited room, but didn't had the time to do so anymore ^^

The thing is that in my mind you (the dungeon master) will have to find the right balance between killing monsters ( more points) and grabbing health or only take the safe-route with coins and treasure.

Great concept! I like the dungeon building to continue, though there're times the map starts without the possibility to place any tile. You can add more to it easily and could be really good.

I recommend that upon reaching the stairs it just starts another "level", maybe changing the start point to show it's underground. You could also start adding boss tiles or awesome item tiles or trap tiles. It all comes down to if you have other options to continue or should risk shooting yourself on the foot hoping for a good tile next.

First off, thanks for your enthusiasm! I had some ideas for other rooms (locked doors, room with a key, different monster-types etc) - but also love your 'continue from the stairs'. Will have to think a bit more about the overall game-design ... but really enjoyed the concept and will continue working on it for sure!

It has a lot of potential, definitely keep going.

Nice game with cute art! I really like the small sprites look of this game.

Developer

Thanks. I was also very pleased with how my minimalisic pixelart-ish look came about ^^
