Everything felt spot on and worked very well. The radio was probably the best part.  Did the Setup button serve a purpose?  Anyway, overall a very charming game and experience :)

Not really my type of game but very well executed. Audio and pixel art are really good and its easy to understand. Thumbs up, great job.

Developer

Thanks for playing! Zach, our audio engineer and pixel artist really appreciates that :D

help i can't stop hatching these eggs

it's a fun game!

Haha same! At the beginning we only had 3 different eggimals planned, but we're so glad that we decided to make 3 more to vary the player experience. Hopefully, we can continue to create more that are just as cute :). Thanks for playing!

Beautiful and charming game. You've implemented some lovely touches like the radio and the x-ray ( I think that's what it was). I found myself looking a health bar or something to tell me that the egg was going to hatch soon but I couldn't find one. I had a lot of fun playing this though - really cool game!

Developer(+1)

Thanks! Yeah, everything concerning the radio (code and music) as well as the flashlight are two of the things we're most proud of in the game.

We were actually thinking of creating a progress bar at the beginning, but ultimately decided against it because we didn't want to have another meter on the screen. This is when we thought of the real-world process of "egg candling" and thus the flashlight/ x-ray thingy was born! You're definitely right that we should make it more clear to the player that this is how your progress is measured.  We are probably going to keep releasing updates after the jam ends and hopefully release to the Google Play Store sometime soon!- so any feedback like this is much appreciated. Thanks for playing!

Really amazing job!

One of my favorites in the jam so far :)

You got an impressive amount of work done in only a week.

Loved the artwork and the radio was really cool as well.

Great game!

Developer(+1)

Thanks so much! It was like a 40 hour week to be honest- but it was such a fun process and experience that it really didn't feel like working at all! I think we'll be doing the Wild Jam more often :). Thanks for playing!

Not the sort of thing I would typically go for but I have to say, I was surprised how long I ended up sitting here hatching these eggs. Very cute and addicting game!

Developer

Thanks for giving it a shot! This genre isn't usually my cup of tea either, but, funnily enough, it was a blast to make!

Super cute game!

Thank you <3

This was SO GOOD! Words cannot describe how chilled out and comy this game made me feel.

Defo wanna play with the eggimals in some way afterwards, maybe hats / toys you can collect for beating certain hatch conditions or times, but that would be a bunch a new stuff XD.

Gonna keep an eye on this one!

Developer(+1)

Thanks for the kind words :)! We're working on some playground elements that the eggimals can use (a slide, a teeter-totter, etc. ), so maybe you could unlock more of those by being an expert hatcher! Also, it's been a desire since day one for us to build a 'pokedex' scene where players can see generated information about each one of their hatches and read a bit about the species. Overall, we would love to reward the player more in some way! Thanks again for playing our game!

Always nice to run into a game my kids can play! Extremely cute aesthetic! Music and audio were well suited and I like how I need to pay attention to the radio because the music can change on you.  You have just perfect amount of items for us to play with for the scope of the game.  The Eggimals are adorable and it's a nice touch to see them wander in the yard afterwards.

Overall a very well executed and enjoyable game! Great work. :D

Developer

Thanks for the great feedback! We tried to approach the overall art and game design in a way that makes the player feel like they're a kid hatching their own mystery egg :O. Then, for the "collection yard" we were hoping to create a space for them to play and interact but ultimately decided that was outside of our capabilities for the jam. And as for the radio, that was our favorite thing to create- both the audio and the code behind it! Thanks for playing :)

This is a very cute game and I liked how leisurely and low tech it felt. It was like I was just hatching Pokemon in the backyard. The presentation really added a lot to this. Very cool game.

Also found a bug where if you light up the egg at the very start you can see the fully formed Eggimal.

Developer(+1)

Yes that's exactly the vibe we were going for! Almost like when you get that egg from that npc in Pokemon, and then you spend hours keeping it in your party to see what it might be :D.

And thanks so much for the bug report! We have to reset the eggimal's scale before the egg hops into the scene again. We'll add it to the bugs section for sure. Thanks for playing!

Beautiful game. I love the simplicity, and the funky Eggimals frolicking in the garden makes me go aww.

Developer

Thanks for playing! We were trying hard to integrate most of the UI and meters into the environment to create a simpler interface.  And then  of course we had to let the cuteness flow!

Oh, I love this game! using the flashlight to check the progress part is a genius idea! It really reminds me of when I was young and hatched a chicken myself! The only part I hope to have is, it would be better if the eggimals I hatched can stay in the scene and wandering around when I hatch the next, it will give me more feel of achievement to see all of them! I like the name of the eggimals too, cute pun!

I just noticed there is a farm where all my eggs are there.. but still it would feel better if I can check them while hatch my new egg, or they will come to visit me.

Developer(+1)

That's very helpful feedback! It would definitely be a design struggle to fit a hatched creature into that small space and still be able to click on things, but the idea is still something we'll consider for future implementations. We have had an idea to expand the view, showing more of the scene. Maybe we'll consolidate the two scenes and just split the view in some way or another. Thanks again for playing!

For sure, maybe they just pop their heads in every once in a  while to say hi.

Absolutely precious, I love this game so much. It is a bit boring at times, but seeing my little Corn Dog hatch made all my work worth it.

Happy you enjoyed it overall!
