This game was really, really, really fun.

I loved the take on dice, and the audio mix was really fun, except the music was very loud during gameplay, for me at least.

The audio dimming during the menu select was chef's kiss for me, but it came back at a volume that was just overpowering.

If you continued with this game I would love to see some audio control beyond a toggle button - but in the span of a game jam settings can end up on the backburner.

Well done! :D

Developer

The audio dimming actually happens whenever you stop moving and not only in the menu screens. Yeah, I also added a last minute mute button as I could see how it might be too overpowering to some, but as you've said more precise controls did end up on the backburner. I do plan on uploading a post-jam version though. Thanks for the feedback!

Nice game! I really liked the 3D neon light art style and the game concept. I do suck at the game though so idk what else to say.

Very cool game. Maybe the player’s health could be more obviously presented. The aesthetic and the sound also match up very well.

Pretty darn cool concept. I might be a bit biased, but the look of it was a lot of fun. I like how it is like a turn based game and real time strategy kind of. You have to think out your next move rather than just rushing in, though that is kind of what I wanted to do at the same time if that makes any sense.

At first my team was talking about doing a top down shooter using dice as the weapon somehow, I feel like you took that sort of concept to a really cool place.

It feels like something is missing, some additional stake or motivation to keep me going in one direction or another, but I'm not sure I have a solid solution for you there.

Would be cool if it wasn't just abilities, but if you could add a like spikes to make melee more viable or something more long ranged, idk.

Overall great ideas here.

Totally get what you mean. A kind of blend between fast-paced gameplay and slowed down turn based movement in sticky situtations was what I was going for. I also agree on all the other suggestions and have some ideas how to implement solutions in a post-jam version. Thanks for the feedback!

Nice submission! I've surprisingly not seen many games that utilize different faces in order to have actions perform unique abilities, and I think you've executed on that well! One thing I wasn't sure about was whether or not our character has health? It seemed like I could mash myself directly into enemies and get through each level no problem.

Our game is maybe something like you mentioned here. It determines what you can do with your player depending on which side of the dice you are on, but its a 3d platformer physics based game. Check it out if you like.

I tried what you mentioned and I managed to die after smashing into enemies enough times!

Developer

There is a actually a health bar on top of the character, but I could see how that might get lost inbetween all the particles. :D

Very fun game and great design, little hard to know what I was about to do. But overall a great well designed game.

Really fun and pretty game, it took me a while to understand why some dices don't die. Good job!
I also struggled with my code to do the things your game does, so I envied the execution being so good.

Levelling up your dice feels really good. Wish the game was a little faster paced, with less space between enemies perhaps? I'm not sure. Really great overall though, well done.

This game has amazing visuals paired with some feel-good gameplay. Great work!

Very good work, I would be curious to know how the die was moved, and how the terrain was created (which I think is really cool by the way)

Developer (1 edit) (+1)

Moving the die was done by calculating the point of rotation at the edge of a cube and then using that point in the RotateAround() method in Unity. The terrain is just randomly spawned cubes with the distance being multiplied by itself from a certain point away from the player, creating that sort of "scrolling effect" at the edges of the screen.

nice concept, wish i see that like a rhythm style game. 5 5 5

This game was super unique and extremely enjoyable. I normally give a game a couple runs just in case of easter eggs, but holy moly I played this for like an hour. Please tell me you’re planning to continue development, and a big well done!

Thanks, glad you liked it! :) Yes I definitely plan on working on this a bit more, as there were a few ideas I wasn't able to implement in the time frame.

Yasss, glad to hear it, take my follow haha

Great visuals, I love how you can destroy all the cubes following you when you have the special ability. Well done!

This is a very unique and creative way to use dice for a game. I had a lot of fun playing it and the atmosphere and music fit perfectly. The upgrade system is fun and changes up the gameplay in a way that invites to try new tactics. All in all you did a great job with this game, I will probably play it again.

nice art style and music

I love the art style and audio it adds a really cool sci-fi atmoshpere to the game, although it would of been better if we had more abilities, as the main strategy is basically just go near cube and upgrade.

Apart from that, great game!

The game have a cool visual style and audio, the way of attack is very unique.

As a turn-based game, it is a little hard to figure out better strategies. I just go to the cubes nearby and roll to them, and upgrade.

Developer

Yeah I agree I would have liked to have some more special attacks for further strategies, maybe in the future. Although, I felt after reaching some higher levels, taking note of the enemies special attack and dodging accordingly gave way to some interesting options in order to advance further.

I love it! Intuitive controls and I was able to start having fun with it instantly.

The UI was impossible to read unless I switched to Fullscreen; otherwise I really enjoyed the concept. Keep up the good work!
